One thing people need to get is that the Bible wasn't written to be read as a whole. That's why a lot of Bibles are distributed with only the new testament, because almost all the old rules were overwritten.

I love reading the WBC forums. I'm not going to get into any debate about their church, but I find them hilarious. Everything they say is funny and you should all read their forums one day. Every topic is a gold mine of awesome.
Regarding your sweet old granny, I wouldn't bother arguing with her. She's believed in that for her WHOLE LIFE. There's no way you're going to change that. You should just respect her opinion, I guess. If you do want to argue/debate with her then try to do it in the nicest way possible. Like consider agreeing with her on some things she says (even if you don't) just to ease the debate a little more. "I know what you mean granny, I think it's wrong too, but look at it this way...etc. etc. etc."

The only reason that I even thought about this is that there's sufficient evidence that my oldest brother is gay.
I'm not sure how my Grandmother will react (If she's going to find out) and I just want to... I don't know, lessen the blow. I guess. (Edited)

If god hates fags, why'd he make them fags in the first place? It's not something you chose to be, so I could not possibly see why god (if there is a god) would have anything against homosexuals. The people who say god hates fags are just dumb assholes.

This church is the same church that protests at soldiers funerals. The PGR "patriot Guard riders" were created after a few incidents with this church in particular. They try to antagonize people just so they can sue them. They will literally short of violence flat out over extend their rights to free speech by bashing poor morning families losses. Hells i'm surprised the leaders of this church has not been assassinated by a veteran by now.

Why would you want to debate with your grandmother? Seriously, the nerve of people knowing jack shit about other religions and cultures from watching a George Carlin routine or Fox News terroristwatch thinking that they have some authority to say that they are right and someone who disagrees is wrong or an idiot. BBC is alright, though I am noticing they have gone a bit biased over the years. If you have friends who are Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Atheist, or whatever...do you try to convert them or prove them wrong? All religions have the same(or similar) fundamental concept of doing good, but they are also seriously different from one another. When I befriend someone of a different faith, I accept that their belief may be radically different from mine, but I look pass that and see them as a human being. Yes. They don't believe in hundreds of years of scientific and psychological study and instead prefer a bad translation of a non-scientific book. Other then that, even if were to assume it were a choice, Christian's who are against homosexuality don't believe people have the right to choose what is best for them. That's up to Jesus and the other god-fearing Christians to decide for you, of course.
