next concept album is up and running.
Also more reviews!
Akayz - Spy Satellites
The strange drums here are cool, and to me, are reminiscent of Idioteque. The sounds really do set up the 'feeling' album, especially the haunting swirling slowed down organ-like passage on the last half. My only gripe is that it is too repetitive and very little development, but that's characteristic of Akayz's stuff anyways.
Caynug - For Earth
A few hours prior to my listening to this entire album, my friends and I drove out to an open field at 2 in the morning to stargaze, which was beautiful by the way. As soon as I heard this song, it brought me back to that grassfield and I saw the wide expanse of the starfield in my mind as I was listening. Thanks, Caynug, this is one of the gems on the album.
Thisispain - Kinetic
This is another gem on the album. Again, I am reminded of Radiohead. A really upbeat track that is fun to listen to. The guitar solo was not overbearing and fit right in. Easily one of my favorites.
Yuriko - The Cold
The introduction of the piano with modulated delay, which is oddly soothing and makes you uncomfortable at the same time, hooked me right in. The EWQL samples sound amazing here. The climactic piano solo towards the end was superb. An overall great song, but I wouldn't expect any less from Yuriko anyways.
Akayz - Music for Space Stations
After coming from The Cold to this track, I was a bit disappointed. More of a mashup of noises than music.
Yuriko - Hello and Goodbye Master
Very synthy and upbeat. Some parts reminded me of MegaMan music. More brilliant work from Yuriko.
Clovis, feat. Yuriko - Voyage Part I: Setting Off
Great guitarwork from Yuriko, which I've always admired. I was a bit disappointed that his play with the delay in the original demo was cut out, but still great. The chord progression was great too, but needs work instrumentation-wise.
Akayz - Voyage Part II: Alien World
Very minimalist, which I like. But again, it's repetitive, and only towards the end of the song is there any sort of development.
Kai "Avant" Gardner - Voyage Part III: Memories
Pandlez paints a beautiful soundscape in your head that flows from one setting to another, all while having some great underlying musical passages that don't overtake the soundscape.
Clovis, feat. Mr._N - Voyage Part III:
What Akayz did at the beginning was strange and doesn't quite sound right when it flows into the second half of the strings progression. It is my honor to close this album.
What really surprised me as I listened to the album was that although the tracks were mostly created independently of one another, there was this pervasive feeling or mood, to me at least, present in all of the tracks, which set it apart from The Ratings LP.
Part of me enjoyed it because this album was just music for music's sake, but another part of me wished that this was made with something more redeeming or substantial in mind and in intent. I hope the future concept albums improve in this aspect.
I was surprised that my song "For Earth" made it on the Spacepunch concept album.
Thank you all for the nice comments on it, I really like to make sad oriented songs.

Yuko - The cold is my favorite track on this album.
