The "SFW" DMT started last June and has done a fairly decent job at staying that way. Although more strict enforcement may be needed.

I dont think the catgirl threads or anything similar were locked because it was assumed they were porn threads, but because they would need to essentially be moderated seperately to ensure they didn't post porn, and that would require too much of the mod's attention. It was more a matter of prevention as opposed to an attacks on facepunch's catgirl aficionado population. At least that what I gathered off of page 4's explanation.

You really can't close one and leave another. In the interest of fairness they should all be locked. I'd be all for a SFW catgirl or dragon thread for the people who like that stuff, more power to them, but there comes the moderation problems again. If the anti-porn laws are to remain effect, making sure SFW discussion threads don't delve into NSFW discussion (which, let's be honest, is more likely to happen in threads like those than in most others) will be difficult in the sense that it pulls moderator's duties away from the rest of the forum. So sadly the easiest method is to close them. Granted I've never been a mod so that could be pulled from the darkest crevice of my ass for all I know. But then again closing one and not another is a bit skewed. Even while I personally think in the interest of the people who frequented those threads, neither should be locked, I can see why it would be done.
