question relating to nsfw content what the fuck happened to the click-to-open image tags [editline]13th July 2014[/editline] they disappeared, like, 2 or 3 years ago for no reason. is it related to fp being held together by gum and tacks

[QUOTE=ROFLBURGER;45382122]so are you saying this is facepunch culture [/QUOTE] Is this dragon-gate or something, it's a stupid thread that's been around since 2008, it was gone for a while but I thought it was so bizarrely out of place and unpredictable in its success that it can't just be forgotten about, especially since there's a little community going on with it. A scenario could be to make it safe for work only but it would be a shame to change something which barely affects FP due to being buried so many pages back. This wasn't even an issue until you brought it up, you're literally going pages and pages and pages back to find a thread to complain about here.
such a shame to only allow safe for work dragon dongs ;(
[QUOTE=Wingz;45382778]such a shame to only allow safe for work dragon dongs ;([/QUOTE] :( Yeah. (it doesn't matter) [editline]14th July 2014[/editline] We better lock the gay thread too because they talk about sex (especially gay sex) in there sometimes. The Jim Jones Kool-Aid Affair.

do they post pictures if not, no problem
[QUOTE=ROFLBURGER;45382794]Are you aware that you can sort by threads with the lastest post in GD right.[/QUOTE] I'm not a power user, if this was an issue then threads would be ordered how they were by default.
[QUOTE=Roll_Program;45382800]I'm not a power user, if this was an issue then threads would be ordered how they were by default.[/QUOTE] I don't think you need to be a power user to understand how to sort threads by latest post. All you need to do is click a button twice for it sort by latest post.
[QUOTE=ROFLBURGER;45382833]I don't think you need to be a power user to understand how to sort threads by latest post. All you need to do is click a button twice for it sort by latest post.[/QUOTE] Wait, you can sort threads by latest post?
[QUOTE=woolio1;45382935]Wait, you can sort threads by latest post?[/QUOTE] Yes. Click on "Last Post By" twice
[QUOTE=Wingz;45382799]do they post pictures if not, no problem[/QUOTE] only sfw picture are posted anything nsfw (which it rarely is, with the exception of the last few pages) is linked [editline]13th July 2014[/editline] what's so dumb about this?? [editline]asd[/editline] wow fuck i should get some more sleep, just realized you're talking about gay chat not dragon thread still applies though
[QUOTE=woolio1;45382935]Wait, you can sort threads by latest post?[/QUOTE] have you never left general discussion or something.
[QUOTE=BeardyDuck;45383097]have you never left general discussion or something.[/QUOTE] I never come here. I've stuck around in the Gaming, Hardware and Software, and Hobbies sections since I joined. Occasionally I end up in Sensationalist Headlines, but that's rare. I used to hang around Fast Anime last year, but I left in January. Like I said, I don't keep up with the meta. I just sort of check my handful of threads, pop over to Reddit for a bit, and do something else for a few hours. I'm becoming increasingly efficient at it.
[QUOTE=Roll_Program;45382060] You don't have to read it, plus it's buried on page fucking 1000 or something.[/QUOTE] but thats like alot of the "porn" threads closed. Not sure why violent lizard sex is getting an exception.
So then what's the consensus on the dragon thread? Personally i think that if the catgirl thread got removed, so should the dragon thread. They're two sides of the same coin. It's more i can't think of an argument to keep it and still nuke the catgirl thread.

If they want to have those threads without posting NSFW content, that should be fine. Just ban the people who post NSFW content, and they should catch on quick. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the rule as it stands, but if that's the way we're doing it, we at least need to standardize the implementation across the board.

All this time I had no idea the dragon thread was a porn thread.
removal of the catgirl thread was a crime keeping the dragon thread was an insult
[QUOTE=woolio1;45381385]People wear band tees that are leagues more offensive than anything I've seen here... Just saying.[/QUOTE] Was it a nickleback shirt?
[QUOTE=Rika-chan;45383393]Was it a nickleback shirt?[/QUOTE] That, and anything from Spencer's.

This is some trynnical Russian-style bullshit
[QUOTE=The Aussie;45383546]To be far, the chance was never given to the catgirl thread to make it SFW, why should the dragon thread be afforded the same chance?[/QUOTE] Well, I'm saying if the people want to remake a SFW version of their thread, and they feel they can keep it SFW, they should be able to remake it. I know you want restitution, but I think fairness is a better bet at this point. If we make the rule "No NSFW content," that's fairly workable. I'm going to assume there's enough SFW catgirl content that you could make it worthwhile. I'm also sure there's enough SFW dragon content to do the same. You both get to remake your threads, and any NSFW material can be shared through PMs or what have you. It's not perfect, but it's the hand we've been dealt. I don't quite think it's fair that some mixed-N/SFW threads got locked when they could have been converted, and I'm honestly kind of ticked off that the Dragon thread is still up despite all of it, but that's the situation as it stands. If we're doing this, I think we should do it to the fullest extent in the interest of fairness. If we're not locking the Dragon thread, then we should unlock every mixed-N/SFW thread and have them adhere to the same rules. Otherwise, we're doing the community as a whole a great injustice by promoting partiality, and that doesn't look good for anyone. In the end, however, it's up to the head mods to decide what happens. If they want to promote an incestuous standard of moderation, and keep threads that are run by other mods, that's their call. It's not exactly fair, but few things are. (I asked these same questions when Reddit clamped down on a lot of their NSFW subreddits last year. I'm no great fan of things like /r/creepshots or our own Hot Girls thread, but I think we need to consider the reaching social implications of our decisions, and see how they might affect the state of the forum as a whole. If we allow partiality, then we expose our true loyalties; impartiality and fairness are in the best interest of the whole, even if we ourselves are upset by it.) [I]I think that might be the smartest-sounding thing I've said all day. [/I]
[QUOTE=woolio1;45383645]it's up to the [modes/garry] to decide what happens. [/QUOTE] ugh and it's taking forEVER
[QUOTE=Craptasket;45383742]ugh and it's taking forEVER[/QUOTE] As it well should! Decisions of censorship, no matter how small, are not to be made lightly. Deliberation is the key to avoiding social unrest, and I applaud the management for taking time to think about things before applying new regulations to the forums. In a forum such as this, where a significant portion of the userbase engages in some activity in one of the now-gray-area threads, these decisions can have a real impact on how people interact with the site, and with each other. Are some of these subgroups seedy? Sure. Would we like to ignore that they exist, or remove them completely? Absolutely. But, without reason, the social contract keeps us from doing those things. Action and stimuli are best kept separate unless it is necessary they entwine. We should all take a moment to step back, and be patient while we wait to hear what our management decides. They're not idiots, they know what they're doing. Surely, what they decide will be best for the community, even if it takes some getting used to. [I finally got some time to write something out. It's a far cry from the comment-based potshotting I've been doing all day, but I think it elaborates my position fairly well.]
