Facepunch Avatar Rules Are Too Lenient (and it's being dealt with- page 4)

When did I step off of Facepunch into Civics 101.
As it well should! Decisions of censorship, no matter how small, are not to be made lightly. Deliberation is the key to avoiding social unrest, and I applaud the management for taking time to think about things before applying new regulations to the forums.
In a forum such as this, where a significant portion of the userbase engages in some activity in one of the now-gray-area threads, these decisions can have a real impact on how people interact with the site, and with each other. Are some of these subgroups seedy? Sure. Would we like to ignore that they exist, or remove them completely? Absolutely. But, without reason, the social contract keeps us from doing those things. Action and stimuli are best kept separate unless it is necessary they entwine.
We should all take a moment to step back, and be patient while we wait to hear what our management decides. They're not idiots, they know what they're doing. Surely, what they decide will be best for the community, even if it takes some getting used to.
[I finally got some time to write something out. It's a far cry from the comment-based potshotting I've been doing all day, but I think it elaborates my position fairly well.]
Did you just find the thesaurus tool on your computer?

No, no... It's far worse, I'm afraid. I'm a journalist.
Do people actually care about mlp/furry avatars?
I thought I accidentally opened up a Kotaku article.

People just need to accept the new avatar rules, I did.

Did you post this in the wrong thread? I can't find a connection
I thought I accidentally opened up a Kotaku article.
I'm not sure what I was going for there, but it certainly wasn't that. I'd like to think I'm just a bit better than Kotaku, considering they're one of the worst media outlets I've seen.

Was meant for last page.

I personally don't give a fuck. Each to their own, etc.

I absolutely hate your writing style. Quit with the verbal fluff and get to the point. Read some Orwell.
I'm being blunt because your writing style is quite bad for you, and I've personally had the same troubles. You should be punctual. Less words are better. Don't go nuts with the detail when it isn't called for. Understand your audience. Remember how your diction reinforce your tone, and how does your tone reinforces your point.
The faster you figure out that less is more, the faster you become a respectable (and comprehensible) writer.
I'd also recommend Hemingway as well for that. Simple, to the point, but still powerful.

Like you wouldn't believe. Apparently it actually infuriates some people here.

Enough that they whine about it affecting them instead of just blocking that shit.
Why are people still trying to get their threads. Just google it and stop whining.

Technical writing is supposed to be very concise as well.
I am curious if this means they might remove titles too? I mean if we want to make the site more younger user friendly and or better for browsing at work it would be nice not to have "im a massive faggot" in huge letters at the side of the screen, Yeah?

I used to be the same.
Don't piss around with words.
Or if you are going to piss around with words, use as few as you can while still achieving the desired effect.
This is the cornerstone of good writing.
Sounding like a 1940s professor in everyday conversation probably shouldn't be your desired effect.

Politics and the English language is really one of his best essays. If you're a writer, Why I Write should be a must read too.
To woolio, your writing is much too flowery. It's over detailed and peppered with words and even sentences that don't need to be there. It can be fun to write like that sometimes, but it's simply bad practice. It's really difficult to get your point across in a piece if the reader becomes bored half way through. Short. Sharp. Concise.
Get Lord Exor here, wauterboi would have a brilliant exchange with him.
Why are people still trying to get their threads. Just google it and stop whining.
Even if Catgirl megathread was just an image dump for you there were people behind those posts. And those people simply want a place to hang around again.
Maybe we should make a thread "Former Catgirl megathread visitors chat - No pictures allowed edition" or what?
We were never told to stop posting NSFW content and there was no problem or rules prohibiting it. Now that they are we could simply create a SFW thread that breaks no rules except for the "remaking removed threads -> permban".
All of you keep saying use google, tumblr, whatever. I don't want a wall of pictures. I want a place with people who have similar interests. In this case catgirls.
I don't really care about NSFW content.
This issue is about losing our little place, not content.
Make a steam group then i don't know. And don't say anything like "Well do you all need threads about games?" That's a bullshit argument.

Well we do, and that's where we (hopefully temporarily) are now. But catgirl megathread wasn't so fast either and steam chats are dead most of the time. Timezones yo. Timezones are not so much of a problem on forums since you don't have to be "Present" to see the conversation. And you can also post images and videos. Is this not why forums exist in the first place?
I'm just gonna wait and see how this all ends for now.
I'm just gonna wait and see how this all ends for now.
Not really sure what any of you expect to come out of waiting and whining. The mods very rarely go back on what they decide, and Rusty is more or less at the head of this. It's just something you have to accept.

I doubt these people will accept it.
I still don't see how this is an issue, if the avatar is NSFW (its pretty fucking obvious if its NSFW) it will get removed, and threads for porn dumping is gone. If you want furry porn go on e621, if you want hot anime action then fucking go on the million of hentai sites. Its not like facepunch is the sole provider of furry smut or anime tentacles.
In short: For the love of god get over it.

no you dont get it, people need to discuss it at the same time.
Alright guys, good news for some of you. Porn dumps of pretty much every kind are allowed once again.
The moderators have been split on the issue for a few days now, but after a final say from garry, pretty much anything drawn has been deemed fine.
Although keep in mind blatant for-real paedophilia will still be a bannable offense.
Posting lolicon in the context of meaning to arouse or being aroused by is against the rules under the same paedophilia rule.
wallow in your own filth
