Facepunch Avatar Rules Are Too Lenient (and it's being dealt with- page 4) - General

I feel the Obscene Avatar option could be abused if they aren't actually reviewed.

Maybe a middle ground could be met where a 18+ Subforum exists? This forum would still have rules mind you, but it'd be the kinda place where you can post "CATGIRL MEGATHREAD" and all that jazz.

We [i]have[/i] attempted to allow things based on rules and regulation. for the extreme example, The weirdest boner thread got deleted, came back later, then deleted again when people kept doing exactly the shit we said would kill the deal. Two(or more?) years later we've got the 'what turns you on' thread, which wasn't even indended to turn into a new WB thread but got overrun (the OP was pretty upset). It devolved fast into exactly the same problem the WB thread had and got closed, then a mod told them they could re-open if they abided by the rules. they didn't, despite me and several other mods showing up to ban offenders after things got reported and reminded people to shape up. It failed. even the hot girls thread is slacking miserably at the few parameters we gave it- no hardcore porn, no massive imagedumps. I know we've had a few mods show up in there to ban people for spam and posting out of line, and it continues.

I don't know what to think about the changes but I wish the forum members were more mature about all of the NWS material so that this wouldn't have to come this far. I think there is enough warnings (with hyperlinks and NWS tags) to visit FP while in public but avatars need regulation because they come without any warning tags. For general porn threads, catgirl threads, anime threads, loli threads, etc.. I'd rather use 4chan if I were that kind of heterofag, doing it in an Off-topic section of a videogame forum doesn't really seem fitting but it could work in a dedicated +18 section. Or you guys could just reopen the furry section as a containment chamber. Itsjustajoke Anyway, my avatar is cropped porn but doesn't show any bits and the pose isn't even about sex, will it be forbidden?

I understand people will be concerned and ask to check if they're going to face bans. The mods will PM you to change it if it's seen as a problem, but anyone who puts up blatant porn/hardcore stuff/gore/etc will get their bans with no warning.

honestly just end all this crap and make a 18+ sub forum (a legit one) and make it only accessable if your birthday is set to a date that shows you are 18+ PROBLEM SOLVED also just make it against the rules to post loli shit. If you are going to put a potentially nsfw avatar then you have to tag it as such and therefore only people with nsfw avatars enabled in settings are able to see it. Either that or make it so you have to click them to make them visible (providing you are 18+.) That's really all there is to it in my eyes. Everything else is pretty much a waste of time and a bloody nuisance. Sure this used to be a "gaming forum" but is it really anymore? I can't really even remember the last time I've actually used this forum as a gaming forum. I've spent most of my time on this site reading the news, fast threads, video thread forums, general discussion and the hardware forum. This isn't a gaming forum anymore, it's a community forum, a forum to go to for almost anything. We've changed a lot over the years and some times the forums are cleaner than others, but at times I think to myself, are we really all that different from sites like reddit and 4chan?

The problem is that with the newish added Rust section, comes waves of kids trying to find out what Facepunch is and how genuinely forums work. A 18+ section seems not to be ideal and shouldn't be added.. as well as Garry is trying to make the forum look more professional (Just see the new changes on the frontpage).

So just how fucked am I when it comes to title and avatars now. :v:
