My mother administers these tests. I'm fairly sure she knows what she's talking about. Companies will generally only pay to have the hair closest to the scalp tested (to test for recent drug use, i.e.- the last 90 days). It would be too expensive to test for anything further back.
Hair testing is quite accurate and can go back 6 months or longer, showing any controlled substances used in a sort of timeline. As hair grows out, any drugs used are encased in the hair shaft, so the longer the hair, the longer back in the individual's drug history the lab can detect. Most legitimate testing facilities, however, only use hair within about 3-5 cm of the scalp, and discard the rest. This limits the detection history to about 90 days, depending upon the rate of growth of the individual's hair. Some people attempt to circumvent this through shaving their heads. In the absence of the required amount of hair on the scalp, body hair can be used as an acceptable substitute. Additionally, for pre-employment hair testing, the inability to obtain a sample may be grounds for not hiring the individual. Your 90 days theory is true if they only test the first 3-5 centimeters, in my case I hadn't gotten a fucking haircut for a year so it was traced back all the way to a year. I guess they tested the entire strand of hair that was plucked.
Yes, I realized my mistake and corrected my post. Why did they test the entire length of hair? That's absolutely ridiculous.
Yes, I realized my mistake and corrected my post. Why did they test the entire length of hair? It's all good, I am getting another interview tomorrow actually but they are only doing mouth swabs which I heard only tracks back 72 hours or so. And one more thing, THC is not the only drug found in fat cells, I took a psychology class about 2 years ago and there were a decent list of drugs that could be found but I cannot remember them.
Apparently benzo's are also stored in fat cells.
Valium definitely stores in fat cells. It has a huge half-life in fat.
Meh I buzzed my hair two days ago, best feeling ever. If I was to get my hair tested, I'd buzz it, shave it and then wax it. They won't be gettin' mah drug history, not that I have one.
When you go through MEPS (The recruitment process in this big ass building), your going to be grilled with questions by an medical examiner. Just keep your mouth shut, and carefully answer their questions. I'd be in the Marines right now if I didn't spout my mouth off about my childhood asthma at MEPS. The Marines were my dream.
That's pretty fucking gay. My recruiter told me straight up, lie, lie, and lie some more. I lied about what school I went to, when I was going to graduate (which ultimately fucked me over) and about all drug use/past health problems (had an inhaler for about 6 months when I was like 12), of course.
your choice, your life, your decisions good luck with anything you wanna do
Ah, the asthma question. I have a condition known as exercise induced asthma. I plan on lying through my teeth about that as well. If by chance I don't make it into the Air Force, I will probably try for Airline piloting. Their background testing is almost as bad as the Military's. Needless to say, drugs do not fit well with aviation careers whatsoever.
Somebody give this man a fucking salute!
Very mature, hopefully soon enough it'l be legal and people won't have to worry about this.
Ddduuurrr, you're not done drugs. You've only moved onto different highs. FEEL THE HIGH YOU GET FROM DRIVING PLANES THROUGH THE SKIES HIGHER THAN YOU'VE EVER BEEN. [editline]12:29AM[/editline]
Somebody give this man a fucking salute!
I salute this man for having enough will power to stop recreational drugs! what, no, this should be a common skill, if you're unable to stop weed, then.... im not gonna bother getting into it. it just means you suck in some aspect leading to no will power
Yeah, stopping smoking is no big thing. Depending on the situation it can be good, but it's really something you should be able to do at any given time.
anyone every watched soul plane? drugs and flying are a good idea! But really man good luck hope it all works out for ya.
