That's more mature than most people I've seen.
It's either, METAL IS JUST PEOPLE SCREAMING AND SHITTING SHIT or HIP HOP IS SOME SHITTY TUNE WITH A BLACK GUY TALKING OVER IT.
i always find anyone who ever uses the phrase "pure shit" when talking about music is generally a fucking obnoxious ignorant cunt who invariably listens to AC/DC

I use that phrase to describe AC/DC :v:
Yes, I was really into Hip-Hop and Rap for as long as I could remember myself, and as of late it has gotten tiresome for me and I feel more inclined towards the Electronic music genre.
this "growing out" of genres, is mostly about how people change from a younger person into a mature adult.

I have never heard of such a change before.
I've actually done this a lot.
When I was younger, I loved rap and Hip-Hop.
Later (about 5th grade) I started listening to a lot of alt-rock (Skillet, Three Days Grace, Etc) and Thrash.
When I was in 8th grade, I discovered Demon Hunter (a kind of thrash-core-esque group). This got me into the Core genres.
My second Core band was Mychildren Mybride. After that, I was hooked.
To this day, I love Core music. However, I've grown out of enjoying the simplistic groups.
I have grown into other genres as well though. Now I can listen to old Country music (Willie), specific kinds of Rap (only the artists that are lyrically poetic and talented), Electronic music of all kinds, and even Adele (gtfo, she's talented).
However, I've never been able to enjoy pop music. Ever.
I guess my point is, it's never good to pigeonhole yourself into one genre. You'll get sick of it. Fast.
Mix it up. Listen to all kinds of stuff and you'll not only be more appreciative of music, but you'll also enjoy it for a longer time.
I used to love rap, of the gangster variety (thank you San Andreas). Had a CD of The Chronic by Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg - must've played that muthafucka 100 times.
I mostly listen to pasty white indie crap now, but I've always got a soft spot for good beats.
I'm currently into Indie/Alternative, but before that I was REALLY into generic classic rock (like AC/DC, Kiss, Poison, etc.), and before that Nu Metal (Slipknot and Disturbed mainly), and even before that I was into Jesse McCartney. :v:
In seventh and eighth grade I only listened to prog metal bands.
I still do, but not as much and I've branched out to pretty much every other genre.
god this thread is like a bad pork pie, it just won't stay down
I remember when I was younger I was into grunge rock. But, now I like 80's, jazz and 50's music.
i used to be a hardcore metal/punk kid
now i'm sitting here listening to U2 and jazz
what the fuck happened to me
I used to be into The Who, Gentle Giant, and King Crimson
Now I'm into Meshuggah, Skream, and Justice. I still love those three bands, though. I just don't listen to them as much as I did when I was 12. :v:
I really went from having no interest in music until about 5th grade. That was when I really got into metal and then to mainstream rap. However, I quickly grew out of that and expanded my horizons with the help from my sister. She introduced me to Modest Mouse, which to this day is my favorite band. From there I started exploring the indie rock scene getting into White Hassle, Ramona Falls, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, and Neutral Milk Hotel. I briefly explored country beginning with Johnny Cash but haven't really looked into anything else. Currently, I'm really digging the Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, and The Pixies. I'm really into anything thats chilled and makes you think. I'm always open to more music so shoot me some suggestions.
So many necro bumps man. Why can't this thread just stay the fuck down? :byodood:
because apparently people need to make sure that everyone knows that they grew out of metal and only listen to sophisticated, mature music like neutral milk hotel
Never saw the appeal in NMH

Death Grips however, I see the appeal in them.

I hardly think a thread with the last post being a day ago counts as a necro bump.
Genres have grown out of me :smug:
