So many members here spergin' about how they are going to keep their lights on for just to spite everyone else hoho
Haha! Maybe If I Turn Everything On I Will FUCKING OWN!! Im Going To Go High Five The Mirror... I OWN!!
I'm not doing this, what does this accomplish? Regardless if the energy is being used or not it's still produced. The only thing you do is strain the electric grid when you turn everything back on again. ITT: Damage the power grid, save the environment for a hour. (Allegedly)
There is no point in turning off the lights, people are already aware, but newsflash: We don't want to renounce to our comforts, even if it means ruining the planet. It's the same thing with obesity, people know the problems very well, but they don't care. I for one don't want "Green Energy" only, I'll take nuclear power over Green Energy at least I can be always sure to have electricity. Yeah sure, when the sun goes down the solar power turns off and it switches to using the hydropower, but so much can go wrong with that (not enough water, blocked stream, cloudy day, are we sure we will always have enough power for everything with "green energy"?).
Solar power does not switch off when the sun goes down, energy is stored throughout the day in the cells.
The Only Way To Do Earth Hour Properly Is To Shut Down Power Plants. Btw I had a Six-Hour Long Blackout Last Year. So I'm not doing earth hour for Six Year.
I'm doing it. It's a nice gesture, a symbol. As long as it doesn't lose its meaning, I think it's a nice thing to do.
Earth Hour finished for me. I turned on most of my lights and set my bass amp to max volume while jamming to random songs. I then took a shower with the heater on. The environment is fine.
yaeh man lets put a massive strain on the power grid when we turn our lighhts back on
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=822993 This guy should try turning everything on when it happens
Did you know that if every one participated in Earth Hour it would save enough energy to power every light on Earth for an hour?
I'll turn 1 light off. That is all.
The irony, here in NZ at the moment the movie 'The day after Tommorow' is on one of the TV channels :v:
Fuck I missed it.
Fuck I missed it.
Way to go, now all the ice caps will melt. Hey every, we're all going to drown because Maloof couldn't do this ONE LITTLE THING!
I already do this for 8 hours every day.
Fuck Earth Hour. Some day I am going to die, and I am going to take the Earth with me.
Hehe, someone died because the street lamps were out and he was hit by a motorbike. Why were the lights out? The town was participating in Earth Hour.
well its happening now... i'm using my laptop with a flashlight... ~meh as well as legit idling
Fuck I missed it.
It was on TV3, where the hell were you? We needed one more watching it to prevent another iceberg floating this way!
Well, everything was going too well, until 7:50 my brother came to me and said "HEY in one hour you have to shut down everything" I got like FFFFFFFF-
I'm going to keep my lights off all night to make up for not turning off my computer
I actually turned the electricity off and played some cards with my parents, it was quite nice.
I put my heater on full, im such an ass.
i watched internet porn to celebrate earth hour
I thought power plants take more than one hour to reduce electric output.
i watched internet porn to celebrate earth hour
I played JC2 to celebrate earth hour
How long will it be, I wonder, before the government starts forcing us to do this?
I actually forgot, and I needed lights to read my history book.
Edison Hour at 8.30pm on March 28 The University of Michigan Students of Objectivism are organising a global rally on Facebook: Edison Hour. "In 2009, at 8.30pm on March 28, we are asking people across the world to turn ON their lights and join together in a celebration of technology and industrialization. For one hour, please use as much power and energy as possible in order to celebrate the advancement of mankind. It's as simple as a flip of the switch."
Fuck yeah.
Fuck yeah.
I celebrate Edison all day every day. I will have my blinds closed just so ive got reason to have my light on
