Denmark isnt using euro's so i can buy games half price ;3
You still have to pay in euro, so no, you don't get half price
What are taxes in AUS?
This is a data from a few years ago but it shows that income has nothing to do with regional pricing.

U.S was higher than Australia even.
Because that's a totally trustworthy method of sending money.
Seriously, I'd advise against it - there are way too many horror stories about them claiming "suspicious" activity and then grabbing your account and all of it's cash.
They don't actually grab your cash, they just have very bad customer support.
Isn't it because the Australian dollar is worth less than the American dollar?
Australian dollar is worth 1. American dollar is worth 1.0391.
So the American dollar is only marginally more valuable and the Australians are indeed getting ripped off.
This is why i use Amazon.

Other way around, Aussie dollar is worth more by a few cents.
You can buy a lot of games from other sites and add the key to add it onto Steam. Might wanna look int that.
Yeah, theres a few sites that offer cheaper pricing, I'm just annoyed that publishers feel the need to charge $40 - $50 higher for no real reason.
What are taxes in AUS?
Theres a 10% GST on everything but essentials, and our income taxes depend on your income.
1000% tax on cigarettes
There is always a way around the prices if you're willing to look around, at least for PC games. I got a Deus Ex Human Revolution key for $30 recently and I've also ordered a bunch of games from places such as Oz Game Shop, only problem with that it waiting for it to ship.
For example. http://www.ozgameshop.com/pc-games/the-elder-scrolls-v-5-skyrim-game-plus-premium-cloth-map-pc
I don't know why the hell anyone would think I'd pay more for a digital copy than the already terrible store prices, ridiculous especially when you consider the caps on our internet plans that some people have to deal with.
Sucks to be australian. :suicide:
g2play is pretty good if you're looking for steam games or mmos
Simple solution: Don't buy from AU sites. They'll soon drop their prices if they get no sales because you're importing games / downloading from another country.
According to Steam: $1 = €1
So, for a €50 game, you pay $71.93500 (at the current rate)
Good work Steam!
It's not just games, we get reamed with anything electronic. I remember when going to a Fry's in America my eyes almost burst out their sockets when I saw an SD card for 1/5th of the price you'd pay in Oz.
Wasn't there a site which gave you gift codes to make up for regional pricing differences in games? I remember hearing about that a lot recently.
Its the same with Europe. We pay €60 too, you pay a single euro more for most games.
They should just get good conversion rates, so it's like USD to Eur, not USD = Eur.
And right now they just converse the Euro to the Australian Dollar.
Europe is also bad, but consider living in Australia. Your possibilities to get a game from another country is limited to online distributors or some delivering service which is expensive as fuck. Because they live on a fucking island.
Although 99.99 for a game is fucking ridiculous. I though that it wasn't that bad as people were making it out to be. Censored and banned games for ridiculous prices.
Its even worse in some parts of Australia, like where I live. Because the area is in development is apparently ok to charge $140 for PS3 games and $110 for PC games.
I haven't bought a retail game from Australia for 4 years.
Call of duty 4 is $99.99 on my local EB lol.
I know that Australia isn't the only one getting ripped off, like Germany having to pay in euro's etc.
uhm what? The Euro is Germany's Currency...
We stopped using the Deutsche Mark in 2002.
this is punishment for being australian.
A quick scan on eBay for independant games shop can net you more reasonable deals. You might even be able to buy from overseas if their price + shipping ends up lower (often does) or if you're lucky enough to find a store with free shipping.
This is why you get a proxy in America and then buy the game, use your imagination.
this is punishment for being australian.
our prices are even worse
I know why digital downloads cost a lot more in Australia - bandwidth is ridiculously expensive. I can get a dedicated server in mainland europe for around £50p/m, US for around £30p/m or Australia for roughly £180p/m.
I love paying an extra $30 or more for every game, it really helps show my support for the developers.

My groups dedicated server was costing us Au$300+ (£190) per month. And home broadband on top of that is about $90 for me, for shitty speed, and 20Gb bandwidth.
