I can sort of deal with Valve pulling off the 1 dollar = 1 euro thing, simply because it's not a ridiculous price, and the Netherlands are actually pretty loose on game wages, taxes or whatever the fuck you'd like to call it.
The Aussie government seriously needs to be less uptight about this shit.
It costs more than twice as much for everyday living here, PLUS the fact that entertainment like games and movies are not included in cost of living. So not only do we have to pay out of the asshole for living expensive (THERES A REASON OUR MINIMUM WAGE IS HIGHER SERIOUSLY USE UR NOODLE), but on top of that we're also paying shitloads for entertainment too. We don't earn ENOUGH more to justify this.
obviously you earn more money because you have a higher cost of living, but it's stupid to assume that you have a lower expendible income than other countries. it's not like everywhere in america is cheap to live in, look at places like new york city. your goods cost more because you make more money.
is it possible to change your steam location to america, the lowered prices
It determines your location from your IP Address, so no.

Just like you we also have areas where it's shit expensive to live in.
I haven't bought a game from any store here in Sydney for many many years, pretty much due to the mark ups. Buying the game online or even just the key can save me well over 50% of Australian retail prices with some games

Games cost so much because of import regulation and other government tariffs. Look it up! The more you know!
Pay me the money for the game and I could gift it to you.
we're desperate for money, and since video games and porn are our only export left, we're going to squeeze you players for every cent until someone can fire the hard industries up again.
I have set myself back in time in a sort of way.
I buy games I want 3 years after they come out so they are the same price as when they are newly released in America.
In a few years im going to buy Battlefield 3 for $60 and fucking enjoy myself.
It's because of our ridiculous wages
It's because of our ridiculous wages
No it isn't, it's because once your money was worth nothing, then came some prosperity and they never changed the prices.
