How many of you here hate classic rock? Or dislike it?
Bands like led zep, AC/DC, Beatles ect
I love classic rock but i extremely dislike the beatles and led zeppelin, and i'm not as big of an ac/dc fan as i used to be.
Classic rock is boring, as are people who swear by it.
well you probably know why I dislike it when I ask if they're a parody band. Why do you like it, I cant imagine why anyone would.
What about is do you dislike?
I have an Extreme hate for core so bite me
The only core band I can bare to listen to is Napalm Death, sorry.
Grindcore is far different from metalcore and deathcore, so don't generalize them and put them in the same category.
You should be able to form a pretty reasonable justification as to why you like a certain song though to be honest. If you're unable to it doesn't look very good for your argument or credibility. Saying "I just like it" is a pretty weak and unconvincing thing to say, especially if you regularly post on a music forum.
Yeah, and showing your dislike for something by asking if it is a "parody band" is totally an intelligent response.

They sounds like try-hards. Everything in it is ridiculous from the lyrics, to the vocals, to the guitar playing itself. Thats why I thought they were a parody band.
i can say this honestly right now
from my experience, anything that ends with -core is shit

I guess you don't listen to a lot of death metal and/or deathcore to think they sound like try-hards. Honestly, "try-hards" sounds like a euphemism for "this band is really intense".
progressive metalcore glam rap

Though a lot of metalcore and deathcore bands are shit, you can't just generalize and judge them based upon genre. I might as well say "all people are evil because a lot of people are evil."
I don't really like Slayer much. I just am not a huge fan of the "shred super fast, and play in strange, dark notes." I don't like the vocals, or lyrics much.
They aren't terrible, just not my favourite.
What I love is coming across a band that I really like coming from a genre I really don't enjoy.
I've reached the point where genres aren't off-putting to me anymore, i.e. I don't avoid a band like the plague just because they fall under the category of viking crunkcore.

I've hard a hard time listening to them because it's so noisy and cluttered sounding. My ability to separate all the pieces gets lost and I really don't like that. I hate any music where the sound is or turns into indistinguishable noise. I find that this happens in a lot during the choruses of songs on the radio, and it could be caused by the station over compressing a song that is already lacking in dynamics, or it may just be the song.
My main reason for not liking a lot of metal with screaming and stuff is that there is a big loss of clarity and the mixers don't do much to combat it. I really enjoy Death though, and although their songs are mixed a lot differently, it makes the music a lot clearer and for me more enjoyable.

Yes, I like it when everything is well articulated.
I think Megadeth's United Abominations was very well mastered.
The video is hilarious with the CGI though.

My problem with Slayer is the vocals. I WANT to like them, but I can't.
Honestly I wish Vader would just do an assload of Slayer covers, that way I can get the songs I want to like with a singer...vocalist...whatever...that I enjoy listening to.

Vader are awesome.
Tom's an alright vocalist but he's often sub par as to what he can do. For instance I think it almost always sounds horribly forced. The only album where it sounds genuinely fluid and real is God Hates Us All where his vocals are a lot more powerful and emotional. That's why it's my favourite album by Slayer.

I suppose I have to take back everything I said earlier, noise is also music.

I cannot understand how anyone can listen to this and genuinely enjoy it.
Thy Art is Murder, they're good.
I've seen them live, my friend is fucking obsessed with them; he can "sing" perfectly every single song of theirs. During the whole performance he was kneeling on the stage in front of the vocalist, he had the microphone half the time.
The music sounds like shit, but live it's fucking intense.
I swear pretty soon music is just going to be slapping your dick on a microphone, passing it through filters, and adding a siren in the background.
I remember watching an interview of Trevor from the Black Dahlia Murder talking about how it'll be farting into the mic because that's pretty much all that death metal hasn't done
We've got snorts, pig squeals, gutturals which sound you're drowning on your own blood (infact you actually have to gurgle on saliva in your mouth to get those sounds :v:)
He's probably right
I'm going to laugh if it sounds alright.
I cannot understand how anyone can listen to this and genuinely enjoy it.
I suppose it's an investigation into what makes music music really. It's the same with film. People will watch reels of slaughterhouse footage and film from death camps to know what it is and understand it. They're hardly going to watch it when they have friends over for a party. Same with noise music, it gives you an understanding into some things which (particularly in the case of a band like Stallagh) is something we might want to stay ignorant of. I'm still hardly gonna fire Merzbow on when I have a keg party
I don't like merzbow but I thought that Stallagh song was really good. Most noise, drone, etc is all about atmosphere anyway. It's not just something you turn on and listen to, it's something you listen to to be absorbed by it
If somebody gave me a ticket to when they came to my town I sure as hell would've gone
Hey they're cliche and unimaginative, but they have some sick guitar

You can hate core, just don't put the hate on unnecessarily.
And you haven't been doing that so chill
Okay new thread topic
How many of you here hate classic rock? Or dislike it?
Bands like led zep, AC/DC, Beatles ect
Anyone? Anyone at all?
Led Zeppelin are awesome, not so fond of the other two though
I cannot understand how anyone can listen to this and genuinely enjoy it.
Well they don't listen to it like they do they same way people listen to pop music. They listen to all the different layers and the atmosphere it can create.
Personally I really can't stand noise by itself, but when it's blended into other genres like in Noise Rock or Shoegaze it can be really cool.

I think Fuck Buttons walks the line between drone and noise and I thought they were pretty cool.
But other than that yeah I don't get it. At some point innovation just becomes painful to the ears...
