I swear pretty soon music is just going to be slapping your dick on a microphone, passing it through filters, and adding a siren in the background.
The greatest avant garde sound scape ever created.
that would be all I'd listen to
Just listened to Negura Bunget's OM for the first time with my Grados. I had to turn all the lights off in my room. My mind has been expanded to the nth degree
Soul :smug: [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] BMFV aren't metal :colbert: But then again, who can refuse a free ticket to a gig? [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] Also SickJits, how is all your bass gear? Before you went into hibernation I remember you saying something about it being destroyed or something
still stolen :(
Arguing about what can be classified as music is an argument that can never be resolved. I find it very similar to how people often try to say Jackson Pollock's works aren't art; its really all about how you look at it. That being said, I can't stand 75% of the stuff named/posted in this thread. But I won't try to argue that it isn't music.
Is funny to me.
In common use, the word noise means any unwanted sound. In both analog and digital electronics, noise is an unwanted perturbation to a wanted signal; it is called noise as a generalisation of the audible noise heard when listening to a weak radio transmission. Signal noise is heard as acoustic noise if played through a loudspeaker; it manifests as 'snow' on a television or video image. Noise can block, distort, change or interfere with the meaning of a message in human, animal and electronic communication.
Your genre is UNWANTED!
Is funny to me. Your genre is UNWANTED!
Noise isn't music. Noise is noise. Noise from the noise genre are musical compositions.
I hate Screamo music, no matter how meaningful it is I can't stand listening to someone scream their ass off for 5 straight minutes.
I like screamo punk because the amount of emotion that comes out if absolutely insane. Some of the moments when it really gets intense I feel the music actually emotionally affect me. There is no better medium of art to release your bottled up emotions than being in a screamo band. That and I just think it sounds really really good
I've liked bands like Hawthorne Heights and Silverstein. I can imagine most people don't like them because they are pretty emo.
Pop-punk and grunge and rap are probably the worst genres ever created.
Pop-punk and grunge and rap are probably the worst genres ever created.
Black metal takes the cake as the absolutely worst genre ever. what the shit it doesn't sound good, I could understand if they were trying to be sound music where it is just endless banging shit. But they try to have something resembling something that could be considered music yet fail.
There was just something missing
Its you that was missing something, not the music. :slick:
Nah man, it was just lacking I wanted something completely different, and classic rock was no longer the place for me So I moved on, and I built a bunch of different tastes are a result, trying to find a kind of genre I could form an obsession with, which was what I had with classic rock I think I ended up in a better place than where I started :smug:

i felt the same. I like the music but it was just not filling my needs musically so I moved onto other music
All Indie-Rock has the same feel and you know it.
i felt the same. I like the music but it was just not filling my needs musically so I moved onto other music
But I can't be down in the dumps about what music I liked back then. I accept I was predominantly that type of person. I could still listen to it all right now and feel the same about it if I wanted to.
Not very respectful :saddowns: Its like "I started with Classic Rock then found Post-Rock, forgot about Classic rock and thought my place now is better than it was then"
Musical taste and preferences can't be determined on respect, it should be enjoyability. And it was a better place because I could look on my music knowledge back then, and compare it to now, because with your guess of post rock, meant that I could go on to listen to new things, and add that to my knowledge.
Pop-punk and grunge and rap are probably the worst genres ever created.
It's just that you've been listening to bad songs in those genres. :smug:
It's just that you've been listening to bad songs in those genres. :smug:
easy to when they account for 95% of those genres
It's just that you've been listening to bad songs in those genres. :smug:
Or he is just ignorant/ a troll. Either way, he will never like those genres because of a personal vendetta. I have the same feeling toward Pop. Shit like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry makes me want to become a recluse. The music sucks AND IT'S EVERYWHERE.

Of course I move on, but nostalgia is good.
I hate when people claim that some generic hardcore metal punk bands are the heaviest and best in the world. Seriously the metal scene is flooded with crap and the real musicians are struggling. Don't get me started on Slipknot. Hail the Wizard
Yeah. It's also a pet peeve of mine when people call posthardcore/metalcore screamo. Fucking annoys me and I don't usually care too much about genres but it's just SO WRONG.
