even I know techno isnt an umbrella term for any electronic music.
Time to let out some hate... Don't get me wrong I like dubstep but 90% of dubstep is shit because the producers and artists don't care about the song they just want to get the "dirtiest" bass in there with some big wobs, and sadly those sort of artists are allowed to thrive because 90% of the dubstep fanbase are idiot lowlife drunken teenagers who think this dirty bass = good music. I swear to god if I asked my friends what their favourite dubstep track was, 9/10 would show me some shitty homemade song with some very "dirty" and distorted bass with big wobs, with a shitty garageband drum loop over the top and some random sound samples from a famous film thrown in to make it "epic". It's no longer about having a well composed and tasteful song, it's just about having the filthiest drop. Here's 2 songs I hate: What is this... a couple of vocal samples, the most typical dubstep drum beat out there, some bass and the occasional use of a low pass filter. A lot of reverb on everything. I do realise that some of my favourite dubstep tracks have pretty much exactly the same recipe, but it's about composition, taste, subtlety and what you do with the ingredients rather than the recipe itself. example 2: THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHAT I'M ON ABOUT. Starts with some old school sample for a bit, then there's a shitty low quality "sweet shop" tagline and then some ghastly bass accompanied by some very annoying sounds, how anyone finds this enjoyable to listen to, I do not know. The worst part is all the parts - the bass, the drums, even the sample quality all have a sort of "my first dubstep track" feel to them. I literally have no idea how this is a popular song, and yet all my friends who think they're the fucking dub lords all jizz themselves everytime they hear it. Now dubstep part 2 - remixes. I swear to the Lord baby Jesus H Christ of Nazareth that every other dubstep remix I hear consists almost exactly of this: part of the song (optional low/high pass filters and added reverb/delay) then some wob wob bass then some more song (perhaps with a drum loop pasted on top) then some more bass. There is basically no mixing, it just song then bass then more song then more bass one after the other. THAT'S NOT A REMIX. I'm afraid I don't have an example of what I mean here, and that pretty much destroys my whole argument. But screw it. Here's probably my favourite dubstep song I know this is a really mainstream one, and that it's painfully similar in it's elements to the first song I hated on, and therefore my whole argument is pretty much invalidated through hypocrisy but fuck it this one pleases my ears and the others don't. Plus I know for a fact this artist takes it seriously and knows his stuff, this isn't his "best" song I just like it. HOLY FUCK THAT WAS A LONG POST On a somewhat related note I rarely listen to dubstep at all. Why am I even writing so in depth about it.
yeah I agree with you 100% there's good dubstep out there it just gets hidden by all the shitty stuff
part of the problem is because its apparently very easy to make and it ends up being really formulaic. Same thing went with hardcore. I don't know though, I sometimes really enjoy the heavy "filthy" dubstep. I can see why people are trying to one up each other. I don't know about you guys but for me its kind of weird to hear the wobbles used sparingly, I'd rather have it go all out, but be good at the same time. But I'm sure most producers are trying to do that and are obviously failing.

Like I said in my post, it is in fact easy to slap together all the components of a dubstep song, but that doesn't make it a good dubstep song. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because kids would be shovelling out amateur dubstep songs and people would be passing them off as shit. But people DON'T pass them off as shit, there's something in their brains which likes the raw home made filthy bass, and thus these untalented "artists" have been labelled by the drooling masses as gods of dubstep. And that's what I'm bashing.
yea to be fair though, nobody really picks up a new type of noise and starts making awesome things right away. I'm sure if it doesn't go the way of hardcore music then there will be some pretty awesome yet heavy dubstep beats. If that ever happens though.
What mikey said, if it weren't for them Metal would have still possibly been in the mainstream *SHUDDERS*, I'd take listening to Beiber's angelic voice over AUGGGGGHHHHHHHHH MAGGOTS MAGGOTS MAGGOTS anyday. Christ I hate try-hard music like metal.
Ignorance is bliss! [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
Agreed a million times over. Fuck dubstep.
Have an agree [editline]26th December 2010[/editline] Oh my god you guys are fucktards Sporkfire is winning, he's getting exactly what he wants lol You've already lost [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
I bet the majority of you guys don't even know what techno is, of course you guys will wiki it and reply to me nonchalantly.
OH MY LAWD YOU DIDN'T GO THERE I know it's shit, that's all I need to know
yea to be fair though, nobody really picks up a new type of noise and starts making awesome things right away. If that ever happens though.
agreed, as with anything like this there are bound to be exceptions and I don't doubt that there is/will be some great "heavy" dubstep songs.
I think we should all stop arguing and accept that Sporkfire is simply better than everyone else [editline]25th December 2010[/editline] I'm serious
Clearly you've never been stoned and listened to music But then again it does get annoying when people place bands like Tool on a giant pedestal and try to convince you have Maynard is a complex god, and how his lyrics touch their souls and ect My best friend is one of them lol, I can't stop him once he starts so I tune out
oh god I love you so much, you summed up how I feel SO WELL. I moved away from Ontario in 2006 and the circle of friends I used to hang out with (at least 7-8 of them) have ALL turned into this, and they have these complex theories about life and shit that are completely ridiculous.
OH MY LAWD YOU DIDN'T GO THERE I know it's shit, that's all I need to know
Techno is shit. Anyways you've shown yourself to be more uninformed than I can ever be just by assuming that techno is an actual umbrella term for electronic music.
okay, the umbrella group for electronic music is shit then Now I've covered everything [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
oh god I love you so much, you summed up how I feel SO WELL. I moved away from Ontario in 2006 and the circle of friends I used to hang out with (at least 7-8 of them) have ALL turned into this, and they have these complex theories about life and shit that are completely ridiculous.
Yeah it's a bit annoying, like I said I just ignore them when they get started it's great to have theories and shit, but when you just want to kick back and relax with a bunch of your friends you don't what to hear all this pseudo-philosophical shit. So I just ignore them when they get started, and since they've realised I don't give a shit they keep it to themselves It is a mood killer though I'll agree, like when I'm out drinking or smoking with my friends and then they delve into a whole essay about life and existence, then relate it to Tool, then they'll try to play me the whole of Undertow to illustrate the point and I'm just like "Bro I don't care, let's just chill out and watch some Scrubs"
okay, the umbrella group for electronic music is shit then Now I've covered everything [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
you do realize that you've admitted that you're actually more ignorant and uninformed than I can ever be? Thats as If I mistaken hard rock music for metal. Thats pretty bad, Not much you can do to redeem yourself at this point, I'm afraid :(
Oh man you are so easy to get to The irony is palpable, I have just done exactly what you've been doing for the last 2 pages, you cannot complain whatsoever and I'm ignorant and uninformed? Read some of your previous posts

Read some of your previous posts
Play it off my, friend. Play it off. But clearly I'm the one thats "easy to get" in this thread :downs:
clearly by reading the last couple of pages
you mean reading the entire thread, and the metal thread before it?
Indeed
The duet version of "A Tout Le Monde" (from United Abominations) is quite possibly the stupidest thing David Mustaine has ever done. I didn't really like his early stuff, but that can be justified as "he was still learning, still figuring out how to write songs", but the original A Tout Le Monde is one of my favorite metal songs, and he fucking ruined it. It's a song about a lonely, sad suicide - making it a duet and speeding it up makes it WORSE, not better. I can't imagine how anyone sane could think that was a good idea. Of course, judging by Endgame, Mr. Mustaine IS crazy, so maybe that's his excuse.
Wow I agree it was great and bad but then again the whole album wasn't very good.
Hey everyone, who thinks the Cello is a beautiful instrument? I think it's incredible :v:, and the sound is unique
Hey everyone, who thinks the Cello is a beautiful instrument? I think it's incredible :v:, and the sound is unique
Flute.
Bassoon, hands down.
Just googled the Basoon, looks kickass Going to watch some videos And for the Flute, it's awesome I listened to an instrumental of fly me to the moon with a flute and it was incredible :v:, I still like the Cello better though I'm going to try to learn how to play it one day
Hey everyone, who thinks the Cello is a beautiful instrument? I think it's incredible :v:, and the sound is unique
I love it too. Check out Apocalyptica if you wanna hear some badass cello metal.
holy fuck that sounds awesome I am going to check that out for sure, thanks man!
No point in trying to make me the bad guy here, I threw in one little rude remark when I've been bombarded by them the entire time. It's not a big deal. I hate techno and obviously not everything is written on FL studio.
One little rude remark? I haven't even read the whole thread yet and all I see from you are extremely ignorant posts about how terrible metal is.
no snarling, no constipated voices, no over the top spandex clothing.
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter - Nach der Ebbe Stratovarius - Hunting High and Low Sonata Arctica - Paid in Full They're all metal bands and they don't contain any of what you said. Though judging by your past behavior you'll probably just ignore this post.
holy fuck that sounds awesome I am going to check that out for sure, thanks man!
You're welcome. They do a lot of cover songs as well as original material
Metal Cello covers? Sweet jesus what could be better
I guess I'll start bashing. I hate dubstep, it is DREADFUL and the listeners are just a bunch of bandwagons twats fooling themselves. PLUR followers / happy hardcore - Overdose on something and die, please. I hate hardstyle, get off the dance floor with your hoppity-skippy, elitist egos and dance style. Deadmau5 is terrible in the sense that his "gimmick" is merely a rip off of Daft Punk and the well, I just dislike his music. The "electro, compressed to fuck" sound is stale. Don't get me started on elitist metal heads. No, I will not find your music appealing, why can you not comprehend that there is no "best type of music"? Everyone has their tastes, stop being stubborn about yours. (This post just got hypocritical. :V) Dear Rap, you were awesome back in the 80's and early 90's. You barely swore. What happened? Insecurity? What I listen to, have at it: Opinions, opinions everywhere!
holy fuck that sounds awesome I am going to check that out for sure, thanks man!
I'm shocked you hadn't heard of Apocalyptica before. I love showing die hard Metallica fans their covers though. Funny watching them rage.
I've heard OF them but I never listened to the stuff before and lol, I don't like original Metallica but I love the Cello stuff :v:
