I'm just joking, I've enjoyed a few country songs :v:
I have never enjoyed a country song - ever.
My dad used to play them during long car journeys during the night. Instead of making me fall asleep, I had to sit there quietly, with my sister and my mother asleep. Annoyed and awake.
It has scared me.

Punk Pop
sounds like Blink 182
pop punk goes against absolutely everything punk ever stood for. It is a plague on punk and needs to be dealt with swiftly :toughguy:
this is also flawed because good music taste is what you think is good music, it's not a general outline
Wrong, music taste is derived from a person's level of understanding of what they're listening to and why they like it. People who can't describe their preferences beyond "it rocks" and "it sucks" have bad taste.
The reason "I like everything but rap and country" is seen as a catchphrase for people with bad taste in music is twofold:
1) Rap and country are relatively accessible genres so to say you like "everything" besides that suggests the speaker simply hasn't heard most music
2) The fact that it's always rap and country (and the speaker a middle-class white teenager) suggests they don't think about music very much and that "their tastes" are largely shaped by the people around them. Contempt for the lower class, and by association their music, is the determining factor
Which isn't to say that having good taste means you will like rap and country. It just means that your own prejudices will play less of a role in your appreciation for music, allowing your more sensitive ACTUAL preferences to develop.
most people who say they listen to everything but rap and country only really listen to Paramore
Or E.S. Posthumus or something equally awful
There are so many different genres of metal that its not a surprise people are fighting.
Just compare Power Metal to Death Metal.
I listen to both and get along with fans of both just fine :colbert:
Seriously though, the biggest arguments seem to be "OMGSCENECORE," "DEATH METAL IS ALL IUFGBUAE:HOWHBIHAEIOHFEHFIOAEW AND CHUGGED GUITARS AND DRUM RAPE," and "Iron Maiden/Black Sabbath is the best metal band ever no exceptions or opinions allowed :smug:"
i dun leik metal bcuz its just angry men yelling and hitting there instruments

Bragging about your unfamiliarity with modern music is totes punk rock
I have no idea who Kid Cudi is
Kid Cudi was the bassist used to be in the 70's Progressive rock group, Devils From Above, then in the 90's he started his own solo career which is more pop-oriented. It still has the complexity of his old prog stuff though, and he's still a great bassist.

Curtis 50 Cent Jackson was a great legendary jazz musician.

He doesn't have a name absurd enough to be in a prog group.
you know what, how about we just get rid of country, keep the rest, and call it a day
:colbert: Not a chance, I will defend bluegrass til my dying breath.
I can't really make judgement on a genre although I allow myself to make a judgement about pop because there is a trend of it being just terrible. Good songs do make it on the top 40, but the majority have terrible lyrics, uninspired music, cliche sound and arrangement, and likely wouldn't sound good without all of the production put into it.
Just to define pop, here is something from wiki.
Which reminds me, I hate it when terrible songs get stuck in my head.
It's not because it's pop, but because it's been incredibly commercialized. Most music associated with "pop" started to become less inspired towards the 90s because of commercialization. The same thing happened to rap as nowadays , its mostly composed of uninspired lyrics that deal with fuckin' bitchs n' hoes and popping niggers. They play what they think the people want to hear.
In my experience some of the most meaningful songs I've heard are in "pop" structure. The genre doesn't play all that much relevance, I think it deals more-so in regards to how commercialized it has become.

meh I disagree, I used to listen to rap and even some country, but I stopped because I couldn't associate with it. I'm a white middle-class American, I don't want to listen to rap that deals with the ghetto and gangster lifestyle because I can't associate with it, neither do I want to. Some rap artists rap about more inspiring lyrics but those are usually race-related social issues, even though I can appreciate them to an extent, I can't associate with them, therefore I'm not very interested in listening to them. Is that wrong? I bet you have the same mentality, people listen to what they can associate to either superficially (in most cases) or by what the lyrics mean to them.
The same is said for Country music.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. One of my favourite songs is a pop ballad like this:
