It'd be easy for someone to say that they are just combining random passages together and creating a lot of dissonance by playing random stuff for a greater release of tension, but this doesn't seem to be true at all if you really listen to it. The main soothing melody really gets me as well. The title track off of The Clown was pretty funny. I think we need a jazz thread if we don't already have one.

Smooth jazz is the essense of it. The more vibrant styles show how powerful it can be.

It's just mind blowing. Check out Mingus Ah Um if you haven't already. It's more constrained in terms of structure, but there's still all the energy and emotion that makes me love the guy.
