That's another thing he was talking about and something I agree with: open-world is boring. I'm a linear man.
From my experience, Fallout is more about exploring. The gunplay is a bit clunky, and sometimes 'difficult combat' is represented with 'here are 10 bullet sponge enemies in an alleyway, you fucked up'. One nice thing is that it's often possible to run away as long as the enemies aren't faster than you. The tone is kind of dark comedy, but Fallout 3 is a bit more serious than New Vegas. It's quite fun to just drop in and explore without looking at a map, just to see what you can find, but like any game it's not going to be for everyone.
Bullet sponge enemies is one of the reasons why I never play vanilla anymore, Project Nevada everyday.

Playing Lord of the Rings: War in the North recently has made me realize that i kinda miss that style of game, a linear progression of a story with different challenges around the world map you can do or taking a moment out of the story after combat is over and exploring the small areas around you, usually they're full of treasure chests and hidden areas. Honestly what i think the gaming industry needs right now is to go back to its roots for a few years.
And he went in depth with the Anita Sarkeesian story: Basically, Anita got worried and got his assistant to come talk to him. He revisited later to talk to her and said, "Hey, what's up, my name's George and I'm known as Maddox." She told him that it's weird to take pictures of others and he said, "Uh, no it's not. You're a public figure. People do that to me and I don't think it's weird. Why alienate them?" He was talking about how he understood her paranoia because regardless of whether or not you agree with her (and please don't talk about your disagreeance no one gives a shit), she has a lot of weird people that try to fuck with her.
Ah that makes so much sense and thanks for posting it here. I wish he made that more clear in the video as well. I mean whether she is right or wrong (again no one gives a fuck) you are absolutely right about how so many people would love to have any chance of fucking with her so it is quite understandable to be paranoid. I don't agree with "it is weird to take pictures of others" but at the same time the shot he had in the video (from a distance, blurry, as if a sneak shot) does seem quite weird. There is a difference between making sure the other person understands they are having their picture taken and a creepy shot you are trying to sneak by.

Maddox's review of Fury Road is beyond amazing and he's totally right. It's the only one you need to read. http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=mad_max_hell_yeah
Just listened to the podcast and this might have been after Maddox's sister killed herself and that's why he looks so grim. :(
HAHAHHAHA holy shit that food price. 12$ for dirt cheap food.
Probably were charging that considering how much it cost them to set up shop at that conference.
