I think that the more I sit on it, I like Hateful Eight just as much as Django Unchained for totally different reasons. I really wouldn't mind if Tarantino did a third western. I just want him to do Kill Bill Volume 3 as his final film, it would fit so perfectly.

Come on Tarantino, you mentioned making it more than a few times, don't let us down. I just hope the Hateful Eight criticism isn't getting to him.
I still wanna see a Tarantino scifi film.

so... aliens? i'm trying to think of the closest example.
Also
Tremors II - It has been over a year since I've seen the first, but from what I remember, the sequel seems to stand up well. Felt pretty fresh and managed to expand on the first film in great ways. Although the CGI at points looked a bit dated, the practical effects were really great and even the CGI has aged pretty well compared to most films from the 90s.

I feel like it would be very cowboy bebop-ish with more adult stuff thrown in there.
you rated it too high, jurassic world is a 4/10 at best, and that's only for the casting.
like the new star wars it rides entirely on nostalgia, and then tries to make up for it with some half-assed new addition to the series.
unlike star wars, jurassic world tries to throw in meta jokes and personify the internet, and it fails horribly.
you're right. i was hyper aware going into the film that it was going to try to ride on the name and it still affected my number rating. amazing...
the biggest difference between jurassic world and star wars is that one was a soulless studio cashin on a known franchise, wheras star wars actually had a lot of heart, talent and care put into it. even though it was disney, you can absolutely tell the people they hired to make it cared a lot about the franchise and wanted to do it justice. jurassic world was just a paycheck for everyone involved.
i'm home with my parents for some of the winter break so I've seen a lot of mainstream stuff with them in the last week. i let them choose movies because i would veto everything in their recommended queue. somehow they both simultaneously understand that they choose basic movies but easily dislike anything more complex. my dad actually likes complex art movies, but seems to never sit down to find one on his own. it's a weird look into the thought process of consumer america.
jurassic pork 4 was the worst in the saga, not even one bit of humour:

That's because Star Wars already made 3 "just a paycheck" movies.
Maybe a group of diehard JP fans will make something that lives up to the original, but I doubt it.
the prequel trilogies were bad granted but i dont know if id say they were just for a paycheck
I liked Jurassic World and it's a really fun movie.
The prequels were planned since The Empire Strikes Back, they weren't a cashgrab afterthought.
It seemed to me like George Lucas is actually passionate about the movies, he's just not a very good director/writer/etc
It seemed to me like George Lucas is actually passionate about the movies, he's just not a very good director/writer/etc
George Lucas is good when other people are around to keep his ideas grounded.
So I had another movie marathon with some friends
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Is it just me, or do all of Shane Black's movies get better the second time around? I remember being kind of lukewarm about this one and unsure about Iron Man 3 the first time seeing them and on repeat viewings they seemed much better. Either way, good movie. Funny shit.
Blue Velvet
Both of my friends went in blind on this one and it was a treat to see their reactions. I need to watch more David Lynch.
Inside Llewyn Davis
I can easily say this is my favorite Coen Brothers drama (ie, not No Country for Old Men or The Big Lebowski). I seriously can't think of a bad thing to say about this movie. Oscar Isaac is top notch in this and its a shame this movie didn't get a whole lot of recognition.
Collateral
We all fell asleep after the club scene. To be fair, it was about 5:00 in the morning.
there's definitely quite a bit of cash-grabby stuff in the prequels
jar jar and big names that were used for nothing (samuel jackson, liam neeson) come to mind
Bridge of Spies - 7/10
Good movie, I enjoyed it, it was just kind of missing something I can't put my finger on.

u obviously havent seen episode 2 recently
He needs more sand in his life, it gets every where
late, but i saw Inside Out like a week ago and ill be honest, i was a little bit dissapointed
from what everyone said i expected an emotional rollercoaster, but i never felt like i was coming anywhere close to tearing up. i loved the casting and performances of each individual emotion, and i thought it portrayed emotions in a really great way for kids to understand, but i thought it would be more impactful than i actually found it to be. still a great movie, just wasn't as good as i expected
7.5-8/10
Got back from seeing the Hateful Eight
7/10
Not Tarintino's best work by a long shot, but still had some pleasurable moments to see.
Like when [sp]Tatum got his head blown off[/sp]
They felt like the Hobbit movies. Only made because they had to be made by popular demand from the same "original genius" that started everything. I don't know which trilogy is worse.
Think about it this way: Lucas was in preproduction for the prequels since 1994, and started filming three years later. Jackson only directed The Hobbit movies after Guillermo del Toro dropped out and basically winged it the whole time.
It's amazing The Hobbit movies were even coherent, and they're no where near as frustrating and bad as the prequels.
i dunno i found the fact that what felt like half of the third movie was centered on fucking ALFRED to be worse than the entirety of jar jar binks
If we're going with which prequels are worse, I said they would go in better to worse as:
Hobbit 1 > Revenge of Sith > Hobbit 2 > Hobbit 3 > Phantom Menace > Attack of Clones
Attack of the Clones was 10/10 guys, truly a masterpiece of art. Lucas managed to create something so ugly and terrible that people cannot even unironically watch it.

every hobbit movie and every star wars prequel is trash, they don't deserve to be ranked

I feel like the only time I was ever happy for a prequel was the Wet Hot American Summer thing on Netflix. Mostly because it was a hilarious gag to have older, fatter actors playing characters even younger than they were in the original movie:

Most prequels just feel completely unnecessary, pre-planned or not. If there really is important information an audience needs to see, then it should have been divulged in the original films. I know loads of nerds probably thought they wanted to see how Anakin fell to the darkside, or how Bilbo got the ring, but they were wrong. At least when it comes to movies. Books/comics/video games can do whatever the crap they want for all I care.
Tremors 3 - Did a good job of maintaining the series. Was fun to see a lot of the actors reprise their roles from the first film and it was a good sequel. Although I was sad about [sp]all of Burt's guns being destroyed. :([/sp]
the hobbit was written before lord of the rings, so that doesn't quite work there.
also, half of the time any prequel thing comes out, it's always after the original work started, because it wasn't thought of at the beginning. george only got the idea for the prequels and sequels when he decided to call empire "episode 5". shit, the wheel of time books didn't get a prequel until like the tenth novel was released.
