9/10
Wow, Jesus Christ. Basically, this film is to Lebanon what Sicario was to Mexico. Now, take away the action and politics and replace them with family tragedy, and you've got one of the best dramas I've seen recently.
Also, I know I've been distributing a lot of 9s recently, but a good film is a good film, and I don't like watching something that may not be worth my time. I choose my films carefully.
I'm still confused as to why the mom [sp]even sent her kids on the worst journey of their lives though. I don't know her motive for wanting to ruin their lives was.[/sp]

Maybe she did it to hold her promise, not for her kids?

Well, hold it as much as possible anyway.
I thought [sp]the first 45 minutes or so before they arrived at the haberdashery[/sp] could have been trimmed a bit
It still, however, really bugs me that [sp]Minnie supposedly hates Mexicans yet says nothing about it when they first show up there[/sp]
[sp]What makes you think she hates Mexicans? The character who lies about everything saying so? He probably just said it to see how he reacts so he can actually know if he did it.[/sp]
Land of the Dead (2005) - 3/100
It was just so fucking awful. Only cool things were the badass truck, the badass gas station zombie, and the big latino swat guy. Other than that it was just such a bad film about random characters getting killed, the rich being the bad guys, and shouting bullshit about humanity.
The Prestige
Only watched it because David Bowie was in it but I ended up quite liking it. Nothing earth shattering or anything but the twists were decent and it was well made, though I wish it explored the whole [sp]teleportation/cloning[/sp] thing a little more than just being an excuse for a twist. Not too hot on the lead performances either.

...y'know, I didn't really put two and two together until you put it that way
Black Mass 6/10
Unmemorable characters, the story lacked suspense and depth, and it came across as an average gangster flick with very little meat on the bone. It seems to borrow from a few movies here and there, and one scene was nicked straight from Goodfellas - no excuses. Many actors such as Benedict Cucumberpatch were wasted and had so little screen time, which was a complete waste. Fairly disappointed in this one.
Watched Chappie, 5/5. I'm biased because Chappie is one cute droid.
cheppy downt do croime
but you did
Transylvania 2. Wife wanted to see it. Fucking awful. I usually give scores but this was so boring I didn't even smile or laugh once.
Point Break (2015) 4/10
I only saw this because I tried to go see The Revenant, but the theater was busier than expected and had sold out already. This movie had some decent concepts to it I guess, with the whole "8 impossible feats" or whatever, just poorly executed. Over all it was a pretty boring sports-action flick. I haven't seen the original Point Break, but I'm interested in seeing it now to see the comparison.

The original is pretty good if you like fun and cheesy action movies. The remake looks like absolute bollocks.
4th time watching TFA.

Westworld (Michael Crichton, 1973)
6.5/10
There are films that need a remake, a second chance at being as good as it should have been; and this one is one of them.
First, drop the humour; second, accentuate the thriller and horror side. Third, add depth to the scenario by adding more reflection on the themes of AI and its relationship as entertainment slaves to humans, and advertising authenticity and historical accuracy when everything is fake and stereotypical, among other things. Fourth, on the side have the spectator question himself about the value of entertainment and roleplay in modern society and oppose the resort to virtual reality and video games.
And that's how you get everything the film should have been and more.
It wasn't too bad though.

there's a Westworld series coming this year, with Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins.
Really looking forward to it since I liked the movie, it's not amazing but the premise has true potential.
So you want a different movie?
A better movie with the same concept, yes. Your review was the one that made me watch it in the first place.
Is it wrong for me to point out this film's flaws and wish for a perfected version of it?

Agreed, I'll check that series out; thanks for the tip.
Colonia Dignidad
Movie about a guy being thrown into a pseudo-sect camp that used to be Chiles torture center number one and his girlfriend following him into it.
3/10
I don't know what makes me more angry about this movie.
The shit script which culminates in them randomly finding a hidden tunnel to the outside under straw when they were having the first real conversation about anything, effectively ending it.
The highly highly manipulative "look how awfull everything is and it used to be REAL" bullshit at the end. Basically guilt-tripping the viewers after an awful awful movie.
That being used to pretend that the movie somehow pays respect to the dead and the freedom fighters all the while making the whole "plot" about the couple.
Emma Watsons either flat or totally overacted acting with the 5 faces she's able to make.
The hundreds of cliches they used throughout the whole movie.
The throwaway characters that were never given any chance to get any depth.
The awful awful cinematography that goes against every tone the movie supposedly wants to set.
Aaaaahh.
Was in a sneak preview and people actually liked that shit in the cinema.
But then again this was the same people that disliked Anomalisa and walked out of the cinema when the sex scene came.
Srsly I am still mad about how bad and manipulative this movie was.
I'm reading the wiki on the sect and it REALLY doesn't deserve some stupid Hollywood production with nothing but cliches and one sided pictures as a backdrop for a even more cliched love schmalz "we can make it through" bs.
They should've made a dry, steady-cam driven drama that juxtaposes the shock about the horrible things going on there with a view of how people in it tic and are still humans, not this bullcrap.
Or maybe just making Emma Watson look like she's actually suffering along with the others in there would've been enough.
Maybe not making her look like the beautifull young atractive woman that has a perfect hairdo even after falling down from "exhaustion" in the fields woul''ve made it more believable.
But nope.
But it's an interesting read about the sect. A horrible read.

when she came here to chile to check stuff, the entire media spectrum here in chile spent days sperging about her "being here", even though she didn't gave a single interview or a single fuck.
Perfect Blue (again)
9/10
Haven't seen it in years, still holds up. Some of the directorial choices still leave me in awe.
The Hateful Eight
8/8
Lots of fun, would make a good play. Pretty top-notch all round. Walton Goggins in particular got a lot of laughs.

Fuuuuuuuck yes, 10/10 film and definitely top 5 material
Even if you don't like anime you should watch Perfect Blue, it's like an animated Hitchcock movie that deals with ideas and themes still relevant almost 20 years later
emma watson was never a good actor
I feel like she has potential to be one but Harry Potter made everyone who's ever hired her to play the same type of character over and over and over again
I just finished Blue Ruin, and oh my was that good. If you're in the market for a quick, simple thriller, look no further.
What's the last movie that really blew you guys away? I've watched a bunch of really disappointing ones lately and I miss the feeling of being really impressed by a movie

I was curious about this one, actually, glad to see a glowing review
If you're interested in seeing something else with Brie Larson you should check out Short Term 12, great film that came out a few years ago that not a whole lot of people saw
[editline]14th January 2016[/editline]
also Jagten didn't make me sad so much as terrified to have a penis

If we're talking cinematic experiences then Gravity in IMAX 3D was incredible.
