i mean i don't want to live in it, life sucked for fur trappers
im saying its just really damn rewatchable. so simple and effective
Have you heard about that film from Sundance where Daniel Radcliffe plays farting corpse and Paul Dano drifts on said corpse towards the dry land? I mean, it has Paul Dano, it has to be good.
i dont know, i think this sounds good and interesting. id watch it
man i have to admit the revenant is the first movie that's had me thinking about in the back of my mind for so long after, and i already plan on watching it again today. someone said before that you literally wanna live in it and i totally get that now lol
after having been in a blizzard for the last 30ish hours, i can tell you that nobody in their right mind would want to live in that. also goes for hateful eight.
Anomalisa - Great Charlie Kaufman film. Explores a lot of similar themes as previous films of his. The stop-motion animation was brilliantly done and the film was self aware of this fact. Would reccomend Got to see it in a rather small sized theater that recently got new recliner seats. Was one of two people in the entire theater which was nice.
after having been in a blizzard for the last 30ish hours, i can tell you that nobody in their right mind would want to live in that. also goes for hateful eight.
i walked through it friday night with a tshirt/sweatpants, it was a good time. then i saw a guy walking through it barefoot completely stone faced and my attitude changed, bloody hobbits cant reiterate enough how good it was though. i really really hope he gets the oscar
Watched some movies with exo-suits, for whatever reason. Edge of Tomorrow I really like this one. There's good action sequences, good comedy, Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise's character has a bit of an arc. He's generic, but I like how he's a bit of a weasel at the beginning and he had to hone his skills as a soldier. If you haven't seen it (which I think most of you have, but anyway) give it a try. Elysium Not as good. Pretty average, actually. I like this movie despite it's averageness. I've said this just about every time I've watched it, but damn, it needs more action. If the last act was nothing but Matt Damon tearing through droids and/or mercs, then it would have been a hoot. Maybe if it wasn't so preachy, either. That's all it would take: less class struggle, and fighting more than three assholes who don't fold like tissue paper.
elysium couldve been so sweet wasnt sweet airburst ak was pretty sweet though it is pretty amazing how much of a carbon copy of District 9 it is though. has the exact same sequence where [sp]main dood runs in to baddy HQ at the end with big lazor gun and kills everyone[/sp]
While We Were Here I lost track of time in this movie. I mean not even in a good or bad way. I think this was intentional; it lacked as much pace and purpose as real life. So for the same reason I feel like I can't really get much our of the film. The beginning was slow and the ending was as distressingly confusing and lost as my own life. I don't know what it wanted to say about relationships, and I don't understand what it wanted to say about time or purpose. It's an emotional film, but which emotions??? I don't know how to feel, except that I liked it. 7/10
The 5th wave. Jesus christ, i still can't believe i wasted my money on that piece of cake. Plotwise it just reminds me of that story about an artist with developing alzheimer's who had been painting self-portraits up until the point of his death, you just need to replace the artist with the film's scriptwriters and the paintings with the script respectively. It's relatively ok in the beginning, but it gets more and more horrible as the storyline develops, with the final chord of dumbness in the ending. The film is full of cliches and has almost no logic behind pretty much everything in it's plot, not to mention that it probably got the dumbest aliens since Battleship. There are also no nice special effects or something, though i'm pretty sure they saved a lot of money by throwing in that idea of the aliens being able to occupy people's bodies and replacing them with regular actors. Oh, did i mention that the acting was also just hilarious? But my favorite part of the film is it's dialogues. Just want to more or less precisely paraphrase one of them for you: - You're lucky your parents named you after a star, cause i was named after my father's favorite ice cream. - But i'm sure he loved you more than that ice cream. - Yeah, probably. And it's full of shit like that.
Gonna go see this tonight as a break from good movies.
Beasts of No Nation, watched it last night, I give it a 5/5 on the scale of I want to curl up on the floor and cry scale.
The Scorpion King. This movie is fucking amazing and I will fight anyone who disagrees.
you'll be fighting a lot of people then
you'll be fighting a lot of people then
On a slightly more serious note, 6/10 It's cheesy as fuck, it's (probably) littered with historical inaccuracies and the story is so thin, it makes paper look curvy. On the flipside, the action scenes are pretty cool (if not absolutely ludicrous at times) and the whole thing just seems kind of self-aware of just how silly it is. I find it really hard to dislike this.
The 5th Wave It was very disappointing. Not because I hoped it would be good, but because I hoped it would be terrible. Instead of being a laugh it was instead a snooze; extremely safe and boring with possibly the most predictable plot I've ever seen and zero originality. Don't waste your time or money on it, not that I was expecting many of you to.

I can never hear about the Scorpion King without thinking of this: http://dontevenreply.com/view.php?post=105
Are you talking about Fantasia? I know, I thought it was a Vietnam war movie too. I assure you it has nothing to do with Asia and is completely appropriate for children. The only other title I think you are referring to as inappropriate is The Lion King, but I think you are confusing that with "The Scorpion King," the violent movie starring Dwayne Johnson. While the Lion King does have adult themes, it is nothing like The Scorpion King.
Hanna Felt it was kinda hollow or something? Like they could've done a lot more with the story or the characters. I liked Hanna as a character but couldn't care less about the others. Has some nice cinematography and audio with a story that's good enough for what it is. Pretty fun movie 7/10 Dredd Second time I've watched it. Okay movie. Some pretty cool special effects but the story is as bland as the setting itself. For me just a very forgettable action movie. 6/10 And last, Cabin in the woods Also second time watching it. The plot itself is pretty cool I guess, though somewhere a bit familiar? It's mostly just your standard "a group of friends go out camping and bad stuff happens" movie until you get more info about the plot. Acting is pretty poor and it has a slow start but the second half of the movie kinda redeems it. Still not that great so 6/10

Dredd is a fantastic movie, and it's not a bandwagon. Does it have its faults? Yeah, but they're so minimal. The movie is raw to the core, it doesn't pull punches, and it fits the universe far better than the Stallone film. What sets it apart is that it is not only grim, dark, gory and vicious, it has moments of dark humor and fun sprinkled in. It's a breath of fresh air from the menagerie of bad movies the 2000s/2010s have been producing in huge quantities. Honestly Dredd is a must-watch for anyone who's an action fan, and is a solid 8/10 for me, possibly a 9.
ugh, cabin in the woods felt anything but standard to me. me and my roommate were glued to the screen the whole movie and by the time that part of the movie started up we were both yelling lol
Any good apocalypse movies out there? I'm not talking post-apocalypse, I'm talking about impending doom and how the world deals with it.
children of men, mad max 12 monkeys maybe also i remember i watched Knowing back in like middle school expecting it to suck and it still pretty much did but man i was surprised at brutal a few scenes were roger ebert gave it 4/4 though so take that as you will :P
Any good apocalypse movies out there? I'm not talking post-apocalypse, I'm talking about impending doom and how the world deals with it.
Dr Strangelove?
Dr Strangelove?
shh, you'll wake him it wasn't totally my thing, i think its praise is a little overblown
roger ebert gave it 4/4 though so take that as you will :P
I either completely and totally agree with Roger Ebert or don't agree with him at all
From Dusk Till Dawn - Really not many films can pull off the major genre shift in the middle like this film does. Great cult classic film and a must watch for any Tarantino or Rodriguez fans.
i do remember him rating Hitman 3/4 stars and i was a little perplexed by that to be fair it probably wasn't nearly as bad as the new one though [editline]d[/editline] for reference: http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/hitman-2007
i do remember him rating Hitman 3/4 stars and i was a little perplexed by that to be fair it probably wasn't nearly as bad as the new one though
I don't like it very much but I find that those who do like it haven't played any of the games, and Ebert was never really an avid gamer so that's something to take into consideration as well
It wasn't a review by Ebert himself but I'm still appalled there's a 4/4 rating of After Earth on his website His "Great Movies" list is pretty all-around awesome, though, pretty much everything on it is worth watching
yo dude, I think you watched the Stallone movie by mistake
once i watch a docudrama on the osama bin laden raid and thought it was zero dark thirty for about 2 months
