why not, what should i start with
I'd say Solyaris or Offret, the other one, then Stalker, then Andrey Rublyov and Zerkalo, then maybe a few others
why not, what should i start with
I still haven't seen Nostalghia but I watched his stuff in chronological order and that was fine Ivan's Childhood is his most accessible I think
I'd say Solyaris or Offret, the other one, then Stalker, then Andrey Rublyov and Zerkalo, then maybe a few others
oh yeah i had a brain prolapse i forgot Solaris was andrei, which i have seen and loved
ur all dumb i saw jaws on vhs and it was best
Spirited Away This wasn't at all what I was expecting but I thoroughly enjoyed it. All of the Studio Ghibli movies I've seen have been fairly/completely grounded in reality but this was totally off the wall insane in pretty much every aspect: the character designs, setting and plot to be specific. I wasn't sure about it at first but the more it went on the more I was engrossed and by the end I was sold. Really imaginative and definitely the best animation I've seen from them so far. Gonna watch Only Yesterday next for contrast.
that has a release date now though http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Stalker-Blu-ray/147671/
Nice, and it doesn't rip off art I made like the Japanese Stalker blu ray did.
Nice, and it doesn't rip off art I made like the Japanese Stalker blu ray did.
lemme see this please
Aw yeah, I really love Star Wars OT on bluray. Every image has something going on.
too bad the blurays are a fucking george lucas'd tragedy even the despecialized editions arent as sharp as I'd like them, even though they're a million times better than the gl'd shit
The Usual Suspects hoooooooooooollyyyyyy shiit I got an insane amount of chills during the last ~5 minutes, that was fuckin awesome [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] like i suspected something was up when i saw [sp]how many times verbal was seperated from the rest of the group, either by lighting or by framing but i didn't completely see that coming[/sp]
Macbeth Here's to the people who say that you can't squeeze anything new from Shakespeare. It was simply stunning from the visual POV - the lighting, the cinematography it all just looked stunning (a shame that it came out the same year as many other stylistic films so it couldn't get any recognition). I simply have not seen anything Shakespearean done like this. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19339593/Zrzut%20ekranu%202016-02-01%2010.55.41.png[/t] Fass was the bomb, with every film he proves that he's just the best actor out there right now. The rest was okay. It's still Shakespeare's though, in its traditional form so if Ol' English drama is not your taste, you will most definitely won't enjoy this film.
i've been meaning to watch this and now i have a real reason, besides the trailers and casting. [editline]1st February 2016[/editline]
ur all dumb i saw jaws on vhs and it was best
i actually bought this on bluray a few months back, but i haven't gotten around to watching it so i can't tell you how good the quality is. protip: it's probably fuckin' excellent. [editline]1st February 2016[/editline]
is Stalker anything like the videogame? just curious i'm guessing it shares the basic stuff like anomalies etc.
the games take from the movie and the book, roadside picnic. don't think of the games when watching the movie, it was made back in the 70s. [editline]1st February 2016[/editline]
that has a release date now though http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Stalker-Blu-ray/147671/
fuuuuuuuuuuck yes also, pretty sure iron giant signature edition has been available digitally for some time now.
its funny because my pic sucks, and they could have used the original picture which looks 100 times better.
I think I actually used that image as my wallpaper for a while :v:
is Stalker anything like the videogame? just curious i'm guessing it shares the basic stuff like anomalies etc.
the movie, game, and the book all share stuff like the zone, stalkers (people who trespass into the zone), and anomalies (but they're nothing alike). and all of the stories deal with a wish granter being inside the centre of the zone. that's when the similarities pretty much end.
The Place Beyond the Pines - 8/10 not quite 10/10 its perfect movie i remember being but its still really good. loses a bit of steam but finishes strong imo the emotions running in this scene ARE TOO DAMN HIGH http://video.anyclip.com/movies/the-place-beyond-the-pines-2/jasons-baptism/ gosling was apparently really attached to the baby actor and this wasnt even planned
Blazing Saddles - 9/10 Maybe the ballsiest comedy ever made? definitely one of the funniest, though. So many hilarious lines, scenes, and performances; it keeps the gags coming and the pace building even when it goes (intentionally) off the rails in the finale.
Paint Your Wagon 9/10 Was expecting a western akin to The good the bad and the Ugly ,got a musical comedy about the gold rush and polygamy. It was starring Clint Eastwood so you can see where those expectations came from.

Hyped for his new movie coming out somewhat soon.
On that note, Disney should really release the original cut on blu-ray, but I assume Lucas destroyed every last copy.
And doesn't Fox still have the distribution rights? I remember hearing something like that for why the originals haven't been re-released.
or bttf trilogy because of how stupid some of the restoration work was
What's all this, then? I've seen some bad restorations (Sword in the Stone, Predator) but I haven't heard anything about BTTF.
On that note, Disney should really release the original cut on blu-ray, but I assume Lucas destroyed every last copy.
you guys saw my post about the 35mm fan restored copy? NOT harmy's despecialized edition?
The Revenant A beautiful example of flawlessly directed but nonetheless mediocre film. Lubezki objectively outdid himself this time with every shot making me go "Woah", the rest was incomparably weaker than this. Leonardo was okay I guess, he deserves the Oscar this year but I'd say that Hardy outshined him in almost every single scene he was in. The rest of the film was meh and I'll say disappointing. I'm not blaming Inarritu, as a director with a vision he developed it entirely and has finished the film in the impossible conditions. I just don't agree that the vision was good from the start. I'd give it 5/10 but the attack scene at the beginning and ending fight were the best parts of the films, so it elevates to 6/10.

Groundhog Day 8/10: I always enjoyed time reset concepts and it does explore what the average person would think of. Recommend it.
And doesn't Fox still have the distribution rights? I remember hearing something like that for why the originals haven't been re-released.
Yeah but they can make a deal. They'd have no reason not to, because that's easy money for both of them.
BOO! Get off the stage!
I know, but see in a few years how The Revenant will be remembered, if only, by its Malickish cinematography, nothing else.
im not trolling. dvds are ancient, backwards technology that have always been an awful standard even when they were new yeah lets use .vob files. and lets put them in VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS but literally never put anything in AUDIO_TS. yea lets split the video files up into 1gb segments. yea lets use mpeg2 to encode it. yea lets fit an entire film on a 4gb disc. lets dnr and edge enhance the master to make it scale down as well as we can and make it look totally fucked never buy a dvd [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] blurays are mostly $10 nowadays if u actually buy a dvd you are insane [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] im not condoning piracy, but you can literally pirate a terrible COMPACT DISC sized rip of a bluray and its still far better quality than the dvd
I know I'm a bit late here, but for some stuff there is just no point putting it on Blu-ray. For example material from the BBC Archive that was shot on videotape. I agree DVD is ancient but its age also means its copy protection is also a joke and can be played in essentially anything. Yes I would like to own everything on Blu-ray but that is simply not going to happen and DVD is the best we are going to get.
On that note, Disney should really release the original cut on blu-ray, but I assume Lucas destroyed every last copy.
you have to remember 1 - fox still owns the rights for empire and jedi, those don't transfer to disney until next year 2 - fox owns episode 4 for all eternity 3 - really, they just need to remaster that dvd release from ten years ago
you guys saw my post about the 35mm fan restored copy? NOT harmy's despecialized edition?
no i didn't, what post?
I bet Disney is asking Fox for those rights and Fox is probably asking for a lot of money to release it.
When a product gets bought for $4 billion and you own part of it, you'd also want a pretty penny to sell your share.
