Jurassic world 9.5/10 I enjoyed it but I felt like something was missing
This is the kind of review that makes /10 ratings seem like a bad idea. [editline]28th August 2015[/editline] 9.5/10 doesn't mean you enjoyed it. It means you fucking loved it.

9.9/10 it was ok but felt like it was missing something
Jurassic world 9.5/10 I enjoyed it but I felt like something was missing
That description makes me think its a 6/10 at best.
Jurassic world 9.5/10 I enjoyed it but I felt like something was missing
Dude your review was 7/10 I fucking hated it.
Shower 7/10 Also, I never gave Jurrasic World a rating so here it is. 2/10
A Brief Recap of Best and Worst of the Films I Saw This Summer Best 1. Shaun the Sheep - This is about as good as it can get in animation for children. The visuals are stunning and immaculately crafted, the visual gags and jokes in it are funny, and the story is top notch with endearing characters and moments that know how to make you feel sad, all without a single word being spoken. In a way, there's something to be said that this silent, stop-motion animated film is funnier, better written, better animated, and far more memorable than some of the big budget, big name voice acted, CGI films to come out in recent years. 2. Mad Max: Fury Road - This is probably one of the most memorable films to come out in recent years, and quite possibly the greatest post-apocalyptic set work to come out on film, if not any medium. Part of the reason is that it doesn't play by the usual rules of the genre and instead creates a post-apocalypse that is bright, colorful, full of energy, and filled with some of the most amazing villains to ever grace the silver screen. That being said, the reason why this is at number two when earlier I had placed it at number one is that in comparison to the energetic, crazed villains, I didn't really care for the protagonists. They weren't bad, and in any other movie they would have been great action heroes, but in this film their scenes were by far the least memorable. 3. The Gift - This is without a doubt, one of the best suspense thriller films to come out in recent memory. Has some great characters and even better revelations about those characters, some great cinematography, and some very good performances. I especially like the way that the casting of Jason Bateman, an actor usually cast in more comic roles, sets up expectations about the character that then get played with as the film rolls on. 4. Inside Out - It's been a while, but it's a good sign after some movies ranging from bad to mediocre to pretty good that Pixar still knows how to make excellent films. It looks great and was wonderfully written, with characters that were both funny and at times relatable. Of course the reason that I ranked this below Shaun the Sheep was that as noted, Shaun the Sheep was able to make characters that were able to make me both laugh and want to cry a little. Inside Out made me laugh alright, but it didn't make me feel sad, probably because I didn't feel attached to the characters that were supposed to make me feel sad. In any event, this movie brings hope that "Vintage Pixar" is back, but in all honesty I don't feel so great about The Good Dinosaur. 5. The Man From Uncle - Had the right mix of action and comedy and some great visual design. There were parts of it that could have used more work such as the dialogue in some points but I thought this was made up for by the fact that the actors had some pretty good performances and some great chemistry together. Worst 5. Southpaw - Southpaw and the number four worst movie are not objectively bad by any sense and it's probably a sign of the luck I've had with the movies this summer that these two are on my worst list but still rank among the summer's worst for me due to the fact that they are by no means good movies and I cannot recommend them in any event. They are both stunningly mediocre but with some work could probably be made into good movies. For example, with some better work on the dialogue and some of the supporting actors, Southpaw could probably have been made into an alright boxing movie. Maybe some better chemistry between the father and daughter and a few changes to some scenes and I would probably have recommended it. 4. American Ultra - This is another one of those films that isn't really bad and upon further reflection there were elements and performances in it I liked and thought were alright, but still suffers from problems that if mended could have made a really memorable film but instead create a bland, forgettable, violent mess of a film. The violence is probably supposed to be its most memorable feature but as noted in my earlier brief review is probably its biggest flaw. Characters get brutally slaughtered in this film in violent ways so at a point it becomes clear that there's no point to wondering what happens to them as much as if the funeral will be open casket. Toss in some missed attempts at humor and you've got a pretty forgettable film. 3. Hitman: Agent 47 - This movie is a trainwreck on nearly every conceivable level. Fortunately the reason that it's only at number three is that it's one of those entertaining trainwrecks that people used to want to go see. Whether it be the dialogue, the acting, the pacing, or the plot twists this film is quite often laughably bad. Combine all those with the fact that at a point the plot literally turns into the plot of Terminator and you've got one of the most riffable movies in recent memory. In a way, I can almost recommend it just because of how terrible it is. I wouldn't say that I liked the film, but I did exit the theater with a smile on my face and laughing, which is more than I can say for any of the other films on this bottom list, just not for the reasons that the filmmakers intended. 2. Tomorrowland - Tomorrowland is one of those films where I didn't think too highly of it on the way out of the theater, but the more I thought about it the more things I could remember that I hated about this film. I hated the protagonist girl who is supposed to come off as a wide eyed idealist but instead comes off as a naive and annoying, even going so far as to ask a high school literature teacher what can be done to change the future. I hated almost the entirety of the casting and acting save for the excellent performance of Raffey Cassidy, as the rest of the performances and casting decisions ranged from just phoning it in (Hugh Laurie) to "what the f*** is he doing in this movie?" (Country singer Tim McGraw as a NASA scientist?!). I hated the script and dialogue which at no point makes the characters or setting seem believable or likable. I hated the fact that the movie becomes almost unbearably preachy and sanctimonious. I hated the pacing and the fact that set pieces and plot devices that could have gone to much better use in other films are just thrown away and forgotten about in this film. One of these forgotten things is the central conflict of the film, which thanks to the ineptness of the script is presented more than an hour into the film. It is an amazing accomplishment that this film can have the protagonists blast off from a rocket ship in a secret lab underneath the Eiffel Tower and have the audience looking at their watches wondering how long the film has left. 1. Fantastic 4 - 90 fucking minutes and nothing happens. IN A SUPERHERO ACTION FILM. Tie into the fact that the characters are written terribly, the teammates not only spend the majority of the movie apart but have no chemistry together, and the fact the visuals and special effects are just plain terrible all adds up to one really bad film. Apparently the studio edited this film to a version that director Josh Trank was not happy with, including the cutting of nearly the entire second act. Despite that fact, I think it's most telling that this edited down version still didn't have enough usable good ideas to make this film work, and it still doesn't despite the addition of the reshoot footage.
oh god you paid to see fant4stic i can never watch movies with you
Inside Out made me laugh alright, but it didn't make me feel sad, probably because I didn't feel attached to the characters that were supposed to make me feel sad.
U wot Inside Out was the only movie to make me cry since Toy Story 3
A World Without Thieves 8/10 Reminded me a bit of Kung Fu Hustle, has the same kind of over the top action although a lot more tame.
attack on titan movie fucking bizarre
Warriors of the Rainbow 8.5/10 Incredible story but also weird since it tries to make you feel empathy toward incredibly violent headhunters who slaughter innocents.
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising 8/10 Surprisingly entertaining
The Boy and the Beast (バケモノの子) - 9/10 I think this has got to be one of the best movies I've seen all year. Both the story and the art style really gives me some Studio Ghibli vibes. Everything from the illustration and soundtrack to the camerawork was perfect. Most of the story was rather unpredictable, making me really hold onto my seat in the movie theater, which actually was nearly full despite being about 6 weeks since its first theatrical release. When it comes out in other countries (it will next year from what I'm hearing) I highly recommend you guys to watch it. I actually was nearly late to the movie because of the bus and train, but I think it was worth the hurry.

Summer wars, The girl who leapt through time and Wolf children
no escape: 5/10 I like the idea of it. But it's pretty much just a super boring action flick and not a whole else. Owen Wilson's a pretty good actor though
Mad Max Fury Road - 9/10 Yeah, still awesome, even the third time through. I took one point away for the grand finale because the shot would have been perfect without the guitar and the steering wheel obstructing it. It's even more flagrant now that we have access to the original slow motion footage of the crash without any editing done to it. Oh and the transition between the first and second half of the film is a bit lengthy. It's perfectly excusable considering the amount of stuff that happens on either half though, so I didn't really mind.
Straight Out of Compton Now, I know absolutely nothing about the group other than some of the movies Ice Cube has been in and I don't listen to rap at all, to the point where I had never heard of most of the songs played in the movie. That being said, I enjoyed it quite a lot though I felt the movie couldn't decided whether it was about [sp]them making music to reflect their neighborhood conditions or about fighting over money.[/sp] I would watch it again. 8/10 :conspiratard:
U wot Inside Out was the only movie to make me cry since Toy Story 3
[sp]I just never really got that attached to Bing Bong. I mean there were certain things that he did that I laughed at and Richard Kind gave a great performance as him but watching it after his rocket gets destroyed there was in the back of my mind was this nagging notion that he was kind of distracting from the better and more important narrative of Joy and Sadness.[/sp] Perhaps saying that I didn't feel sad isn't the best way of putting it. I felt sorry when what happened happened and felt a little sad but I wasn't crying.
U wot Inside Out was the only movie to make me cry since Toy Story 3
I suppose it speaks about my media preferences when I say a movie has never made my eyes even slightly damp but Mass Effect, the Witcher 3 and (the book) TFIOS have.
Man on Fire (Tony Scott, 2004) 9/10 I went in expecting a film like Max Payne 3. Oh boy, I was not disappointed. Great actors, very dynamic direction, marvelously tense. Some might see the strong differences in tone during the film as a weakness (very dark introduction, then the film brightens up more and more until everything goes to shit and then it's a spiral of hell) but I think it makes the film that much more shocking, more destabilizing. The scenario was also great and I have to admit I almost cried a few times. Fantastic soundtrack; the original score by Harry Gregson-Williams was perfect, right on spot, and the songs were great to listen to. All in all, a very striking and modern thriller.
Spy Didn't people say this was great? It was terrible.
Straight Out of Compton Really good and would recommend it to everyone, even if you don't know anything about NWA.
Saw Hitman and American Ultra today. Hitman/47 was alright. More of a popcorn action movie than anything else. A bit better than the previous film in many regards but its overall plot felt weaker. They didn't do too much CGI in the film but when it did it kind of sucked balls. The action was pretty good. 6/10 American Ultra was funny in a lot of ways, but also extremely predictable and full of cliches. It also felt like it ended too abruptly. "Wait, that's it? It's over just like that?" The climax was a bit disappointing action wise. 5/10
jurassic world spent too much time trying to be quirky/funny and "wow look at all these references of the past films!!!" instead of developing a unique story probably the worst film i've seen all summer
The man from UNCLE - 8/10 Got dragged to this movie by some one else and didn't know what to expect, I didn't know this was a comedy. Great humor, great action, and the plot twists were filmed in a very unique way that I have never seen done in a movie before.
I'm so glad more people are jumping on the Jurassic World hate train I'm sick and tired of seeing one of the best sci-fi films ever getting bastardized by its dreadful sequels
Interstellar - 6/10 It was pretty good performance wise but the plot was kind of lame, even if you ignore the [sp]love is a physical force that we just can't comprehend[/sp] bullshit. The ending felt pretty weak and [sp]the two side characters who were obviously going to die were kind of pointless other than to add some drama with their inevitable deaths, especially the white guy, why didn't he just get back in the ship while the robot was fetching the woman?[/sp] It really says something about your film when the best non-central character is a black rectangle. Also did it bug anyone else that they were able to [sp]get in and out of orbit, several times, in those dinky little shuttles? Even on the wave planet with something like 1.5x earth's gravity. Was that explained and I missed it or is that just a case of flaccid sci-fi?[/sp] I enjoyed it quite a lot when I was watching it which is something I guess but the more I think of it the more problems I remember, if your going for hard sci-fi don't make [sp]love the answer[/sp] or [sp]turn the main character into a time travelling fifth dimensional space ghost who can poke gravity into the past for five minutes.[/sp]
I suppose it speaks about my media preferences when I say a movie has never made my eyes even slightly damp but Mass Effect, the Witcher 3 and (the book) TFIOS have.
Well games have a time investment, giving a larger impact on dramatic events. If movies were 10 hours long you might have more investment in a character.
