you guys saw my post about the 35mm fan restored copy? NOT harmy's despecialized edition?
lol all that effort wasted by harmy
I know I'm a bit late here, but for some stuff there is just no point putting it on Blu-ray. For example material from the BBC Archive that was shot on videotape. I agree DVD is ancient but its age also means its copy protection is also a joke and can be played in essentially anything. Yes I would like to own everything on Blu-ray but that is simply not going to happen and DVD is the best we are going to get.
that's not accurate tape is analog and technically can be restored to a higher resolution than a DVD would allow and also, blu-rays have much better video codecs which means they would be less compressed and they also have far, far better sound quality. so even something like 28 days later, which was shot in digital SD, has infinitely better sound quality on bluray, as well as less compression. dvd is never the best anything will ever get. [editline]3rd February 2016[/editline]
no i didn't, what post?
check out this channel for a few more comparisons i found a copy and it looks fantastic. not pristine quality but it's still a far better watch than the specialized versions, and it has a film print charm to it.
The Revenant This was my second watch and it was still amazing. It felt a lot faster now but I was still in awe the entire time and sitting on the edge of my seat. It's just absolutely marvelous to witness such an amazing movie on a cinema screen. Probably going to rewatch it with some other friends soon. The only thing I dislike was some of the cgi that looked quite bad in my opinion. The bison/wolf scene comes to mind and some of the elks. The bear was pretty decent though. Spoilers [sp]This movie has one of the most satisfying ending for me, somehow the entire last act where Glass and the Captain ride out to hunt Fitzgerald is absolutely intense. It's so well shot and tense, especially when Glass tricks Fitz and they chase each other. The soundtrack just adds so much to the entire last chase sequence. Perhaps the best scene that I ever saw.[/sp]
One of the elements of The Revenant that I thought was very overlooked was the soundtrack, Ryuichi Sakamoto is one of my favorite modern composers and I thought that the music really added to the context and atmosphere of it all - very glacial, felt as though it almost was a guiding force for Leo's character

Or maybe there was no any. But then when it was it was too loud when compared to the dialogue, but that's just bad sound mixing, not score's fault by any means.

Bone Tomahawk (2015) It was a lot tamer than what I had exptected. In my opinion, it drags too much in the beginning. I was lured in with promises of gratuitous violence and gore, but, sadly, there wasn't enough of it to balance the two hours of a shit western movie preceding it. Maybe westerns just aren't my thing. s/o to my man hanzee the indian

Oscar nominated documentary "THE LOOK OF SILENCE" has been legally uploaded to YouTube Go ahead, because it was great, it also has the greatest chance to win.

The Departed (2006) [sp]Jesus christ, I thought Goodfellas had a lot of characters die. Basically all but three big characters are killed. Were all the X's foreshadowing of people dying? I noticed them a lot on multiple sets.[/sp] That was a good ass movie, one of my new favorite Scorsese films. Now I just need to watch Taxi Driver. I feel like Leo deserved an oscar for this movie more than any other, even The Revenant. He played a character that I've never seen him play before, he got me to care about that character immensely while conveying emotion beautifully. As I've come to expect from a Scorsese movie, all of the performances were excellent.
The Departed (2006) [sp]Were all the X's foreshadowing of people dying? I noticed them a lot on multiple sets.[/sp] .
Yes. Although I think Leo's best performance was Howard Hughes in The Aviator.
Groundhog Day 8/10: I always enjoyed time reset concepts and it does explore what the average person would think of. Recommend it.

Phil? Phil Connors?
I love Groundhog Day mostly because theres never a bad time to watch it. I'll always watch it if its on TV, and its a great option when you don't know what to watch. [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] It's like National Treasure in that respect except its a really good movie.

Bill Murry has some great quotable movies. I love Groundhog Day and What about Bob and I'll even throw Ghostbusters in there even though he's not the singular star, but The Man Who Knew Too Little is by far the best.
i love the man who knew too little, i'm surprised i don't see it mentioned more often. only watched it as a kid though so it might just not be that great after all
stalker is fantastic so far, unlike any other movie i've seen really stopped right at the end of the [sp]dream sequence[/sp] well worth the patience
