china had it right [editline]d[/editline] questionable page king [editline]d[/editline] anyone see hail caesar
Probably doing it tomorrow, depends on what friends are doing.
The Infinite Man - Pretty good low budget scifi comedy. I wish though Terry would have had more comedic scenes.

Besides I wrote this when I was kinda out of it so I need to change a few of the ratings. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 8/10 Good romance film with some interested science fiction elements. Was honestly better than I was expecting and I recommend giving it a watch even if you aren't a big fan of romance films. Donnie Darko - 8/10 I watched the Director's Cut. I loved the ending, I didn't see it coming like you do with a lot of films. Dark Star - 7/10 The narrative was kind of weak and the film has some issues. I can see a lot of people not liking it or finding it humorous. However, I really enjoyed it as I do with a lot of John Carpenter's films. Nightcrawler - 9/10 I really liked this film. I loved the story and the characters were quite good. The further the film progressed, the more and more disdain I felt towards the main character. Usually with anti-heroes you empathise with them, but this guy was a complete dick. And to top it off [sp]he gets a happy ending[/sp]. Full Metal Jacket - 8/10 Someone asked why I gave it a 7/10. I've actually changed it to an 8 now. I'll tell you what I think the movie does great and not so great. I'm a big fan of Kubrick's work, and I loved the first half of the film. If it had maintained what it had done into the second half I would have given it a 9 or 10. However I felt that the Vietnam part of the film, while still good, was considerably weaker than the first half of the film so that's why I felt it only really deserved a 8/10. Upstream Color - 6/10 It is a very ehh... interesting film. I loved Primer but this film was pretty hit and miss for me. Maybe I need to see it a few more times though, but upon first viewing I feel it only really deserves a 6.
I've scheduled a moviescreen+food+weed weekend starting this friday and I'd like some suggestions, if y'all care to help. Themes include cosmic horror, orientalism (representations or straight out kurosawa) and/or cultural invasions, magic realism, watchable cliche action flick or any movie with a Nicolas Cage's screaming monologue.

Take some LSD and watch David Lynch movies
Take some LSD and watch David Lynch movies
on a real note if you're gonna do psychedelics and watch a movie make it Koyaanisqatsi
Zodiac- 8.5/10 Fucking see this movie. Gonna watch it again here in a few days with my brother, but it's best to watch without knowing anything going in. Just pay attention.
best Fincher movie im gay for gylenhall
Redirected 4/5 Was fun.
Room - 8/10 Man, I was NOT ready for those feels The second half is a tad slow and cliche, but the climax is so tense and well executed and emotionally affecting it completely won me over, and yeah I cried really hard when [sp]the boy's mom escaped Room and hugged him.[/sp] Highly recommended, very glad this was nominated for Best Picture because I doubt I'd have seen it otherwise
Rambo 2 - Lost most of the rather serious themes and concepts of the first movie, but it is still a fun 80s action film.
just rewatched DEATH PROOF yep, still good. fuck y'all who don't like it
I'd rather slam my nuts in a car door than watch Death Proof again and I like Tarantino
Death Proof is definitely Tarantino's weakest film.
American Beauty - Why didn't I watch this earlier? Very different than I expected, but in a good way.
I will never understand why people don't like Death Proof it owns
I will never understand why people don't like Death Proof it owns
because the 2-3 good sequences are lost among some hideously uninteresting dialogues and too much of an attempt to shout in our face that it's a grindhouse tribute film. Plus, the story as a whole is pretty dumb imo. The only parts I really liked are the one at the bar with kurt russel and the final chase, the rest I hardly remember. It's not terrible, it's just not that great and pales in comparison with any of his other movies.
Kingdom of Heaven 9.5/10, still my all time favorite movie. My only complaint for it is that it's a tad bit too fast paced but it's understandable given the length of the whole story they show.
American Beauty - Why didn't I watch this earlier? Very different than I expected, but in a good way.
If you like American Beauty, watch Ang Lee's The Ice Storm

Finally got Ex Machina on BluRay and it was even more gorgeous than I remembered. Can anyone recommend movies to me that look and feel as sleek and crisp as this?
Just finished watching the first Starship Troopers film, 8/10 not so keen on watching the sequels as I hear they were terrible
i need to watch ex machina again. such a great sci fi
i need to watch ex machina again. such a great sci fi
it annoys me when people say that the ending was bad its like they missed the entire point of the movie (like i missed the point in No Country For Old Men)
those dudes should be shot
Death Proof is definitely Tarantino's weakest film.
why? there's nothing really wrong with it and it's a fun movie
However I felt that the Vietnam part of the film, while still good, was considerably weaker than the first half of the film so that's why I felt it only really deserved a 8/10..
People always say this and I don't get it. Did a terrific job of showing how pointless and unforgiving war can be, what always stuck out to me is that [sp]officer you meet who seems like a great guy and a great leader, then within like 10 minutes he just dies from random artillery. And then it just keeps going down the command chain till it's just the "grunts."[/sp]
