I dont know man, somebody has to like it. right?
i liked night at the museum because robin williams was teddy roosevelt that's about it anyways, saw deadpool last night, solid 8/10. pretty damn funny and very much what i wanted a deadpool movie to be.
I dont man, somebody has to like it. right?
Stop the fucking press, grown adults surprised they didn't liked the film that wasn't targeted to them.
Stop the fucking press, grown adults surprised they didn't liked the film that wasn't targeted to them.
I first saw it in theaters when I was like 13 or 14. Don't like it now, didnt like it then. But hey, let's complain about people not liking a movie in a thread about peoples opinions on movies. :goodjob:
i actually like tropic thunder but i didnt find the fake movie trailers at the start to be as funny as everyone else seems to tom cruise and RDJ were the funniest parts
I didn't love Tropic Thunder but I enjoyed it as someone who's very picky about comedy movies
This is completely off-topic, but what are your guys opinions on The Tree of Life? From what I can gather, it seems like a pretty pretentious, but gorgeous movie. Thinking about giving it a shot out of pure curiosity.

I like Ben Stiller and Tropic Thunder and Zoolander and whatever.
About a year ago, Pops provided me with a fan cut made by a friend of his of Judge Dredd (1995), called the Brutal Beta Cut. I have not yet seen the original, but this edit was pretty fun. A lot of things of course couldn't be altered or cut without ruining the movie, so there's still a lot of cheesy dialogue and stupid plot points (Chief Justice Griffith doesn't seem to have any motivation other than 'more order, through mass murder,' the other justices are incredibly short-sighted, the other judges seem perfectly fine with blowing up half the city trying to shoot down Dredd, Rico was created because apparently there was a binary toggle between 'PERFECT JUDGE' and 'PERFECT CRIMINAL' that accidentally got switched, the clone army gets to look menacing for about 30 seconds before exploding, the Council is still left empty, nobody seems to have a plan for replacing 108 dead Judges, etc.), but it was watchable. And unfortunately, of course, Rob Schneider couldn't be edited out of it entirely, but hey. (His character traits, i.e. hacker and sidekick, could have easily been incorporated into Judge Hershel's character, which would improve her role and the rest of the film easily) Really makes me want to go rewatch the 2012 Karl Urban Dredd. god i wish a sequel could come out of that. [editline]18th February 2016[/editline] oh yeah, and i forgot to mention: remember how this 1995 movie featured A Song of Ice and Fire's 'Others,' 16 years before the HBO's Game of Thrones?
So I discovered World of Tomorrow and It's Such A Beautiful Day on Netflix this past week. Holy shit was that the most amazing confusing and traumatizing experience. They are amazing and everyone needs to go watch them right now.
you guys want to read some funny shit some fuckface over on 8chan /tv/ tried to argue what makes a trilogy https://archive.is/OZmyP
And now I just finished Dredd (2012). so damn good. Unlike its 1995 predecessor, this one manages to both have stylish and excessive violence, for the action movie junky, as well as make you consider the weight of all the killing. I just now realized that I've loved everything I've seen that Alex Garland has written/helped write. 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Dredd, Ex Machina. Quite a track record
What about The Beach?
Hail, Caesar! - 5/10 I couldn't help but feel like this was just one big inside joke that I wasn't in on, can't say I was ever bored but I never really cared about anyone. Josh Brolin's character was very dull and a lot of big A-list names were wasted on small bit roles, and there were simply way too many subplots that were never explored in depth. It kind of felt like they made a 90 minute frosting for a two hour cake BUT, I couldn't help but enjoy Channing Tatum's honestly pretty damn good dance number and the cowboy stole the show [sp](and my heart)[/sp] in some funny moments
This is completely off-topic, but what are your guys opinions on The Tree of Life? Use a good screen and sound system and blast dat goodness and whaft in the gr8 feeling. ;) [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] but tbh all malick movies are feelings of godlike proportions, Days of Heaven is excellent and it has some of the greatest camera work i've ever seen.
and as far as plot goes, Alien 3 ruins everything. I haven't seen Alien: Resurrection yet, but I'm sure it doesn't matter.

Alien 3 is bad but at least it's not Alien: Resurrection. Just remember that
I actually like Alien 3 a lot. I'm conflicted about Aliens because in my opinion it's a great movie and a good sequel but the genre switch really bothers me (because I liked exactly how it was in Alien; perfect mix between horror and science-fiction). Alien 3 tried to emulate the first film more, and brings interesting themas and dilemnas to the table regarding prisons, and also of course isolation (as any good Alien film should). I genuinely liked the characters and the music, and also the finale (the version where it doesn't burst at least). Anyway, we can all agree that Resurrection is terrible. The only good thing about it is its art direction, but that's all. I had to look very hard to find that one good thing.

Some people have a "Malick gene" and others don't
i completely disagree, malick films can be enjoyed by all if one can flex into the great void of goodness.
I sense Rusty incoming....
I sense Rusty incoming....
how dare you undestanding shit i don't like malick is a snoozefest fraud and a hack [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] how did i do? [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] And totally irrelevant to the Malick discussion, I recently rewatched James Dean's filmography. Now, anyone saying that he's overrated is probably right, but he's rightly overrated. In three films he showed not only amazing acting chops but also incredible range - he played three flashed and different personality, he showed more effort than some actors couldn't have done in like 30 films. He's a biggest waste in history of film, that's for sure.
i completely disagree, malick films can be enjoyed by all if one can flex into the great void of goodness.
I really like Malick but there are a few people who's opinions I greatly respect film-wise and they just haven't been able to get into his films. Ain't no big thing On the flip side, I'm really tired of Malick's fans convinced that they're on this smarter-than-thou pedestal and that you don't really understand film if you don't like his films etc [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] I kind of feel the same way about Lars von Trier's fans and I say this as someone who fucking LOVES Breaking the Waves
Night of the Lepus, the Rifftrax version - 7/10 I really want to know who decided a premise like 'giant fluffy killer rabbits' was a premise that needed to be played straight. Seriously, this isn't scary! It's cute! My first instinct isn't 'run away', it's 'OH MY GOD, I WANT TO HUG IT'. Hell, Janet Leigh said it best. It's impossible to make a bunny rabbit menacing. This needed to be something like Airplane or Blazing Saddles; used as a background for jokes while occasionally poking fun at the ridiculousness of it all.
On the flip side, I'm really tired of Malick's fans convinced that they're on this smarter-than-thou pedestal and that you don't really understand film if you don't like his films etc
That can be said about almost any fandom. Try disagreeing with fans of Bergman or Tarkovsky, or god forbid Godard. Heck, I was once accused of not getting the brilliancy of Christopher Nolan after criticizing Interstellar. "It's not bad, you just don't get it, the power of love is a very smart explainer of what happened!"
Saw Deadpool again today for like the, uh... 4th time now. This time on IMAX. Still a 10/10 movie. This is my #1 favorite movie of all time right now. It's so crazy good. I'm gonna be watching it a fifth time next week, most likely. I can't get enough. [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] I'm gonna end up single-handedly funding the entirety of Deadpool 2. I can feel it.
