The Guest 12/10 This movie is amazing.
King Kong Lives (1986) B-Movie Grade: 6/10 Movie Grade: 4/10 Absolutely bizarre pseudo-sequel to King Kong. Uses a weird tokosatsu-styled Kong outfit that's stiffer than Ron Jeremy and hairier too. The special effects are regularly bland, but sometimes laughably bad to the point of where it's entertaining. If you can handle weird pacing, god awful dialogue and Linda Hamilton, you're in for a helluva time. [editline]31st August 2015[/editline] (By the way, the "B-Movie" and "Movie" grades are simply: In terms of a B-Movie, 1-10 means how enjoyable it is regardless of the badness. I.E Sharknado 2 scores a 3 or less, while They Live gets a 9-10. "Movie" just means raw grade.) [editline]31st August 2015[/editline] [sp]Also I love Linda Hamilton so shush[/sp]

This looks like something out of a DEVO video
it was worse then I thought...
stan winston must have been rolling in his grave when he saw that.
The Funeral (1984), a.k.a. お葬式 Osōshiki I haven't seen a lot of them so it might not mean much, but this is probably my favorite foreign language film. At its heart, the film is a satire of and an exploration into the themes and ideas of a traditional Japanese funeral, but what makes me love it so much is that it is so relatable no matter what language is being spoken. For a culture so different from my own there is something so near and close in the film whether it be the family members, the funeral procession itself, or the subtle idea that in a way funerals can become happy occasions as they allow us to reconnect with people that we haven't seen for years. That and it's hilariously funny. 9/10
stan winston must have been rolling in his grave when he saw that.
it's like, you're going to forgo employing the raptor costumes like what were used in the original movie, but in order to do the (arguably less effective) CGI effects you feel the need to demonstrate, you're still going to have to pay actors to dress up in suits pretending to be raptors, moving like them and, judging by their mouths in that photo, making noises like them--but--only wearing a *part* of the dinosaurs' heads on their faces. Like you've already covered all the bases on the HR side, so really why not just build suits for much cheaper and greatly improve the atmosphere of your movie??
Haven't see American Ultra, and don't really plan to, but has anyone been seeing all the shit Max Landis is saying? He's freaking out, which is a shame because I liked Chronicle.

This was because the operator had pretty limited visibility. Now in Jurassic World you have scenes where the raptors are running outdoors - through underbrush and dirt, having to sidestep logs and rocks - at night, something that it would be exponentially harder for practical effects. So by shooting with stand-ins, you get the much-lauded "something physically there for the actors to react to" and also can pull off maneuvers that are prohibitively challenging for a raptor suit. It's like Rocket and Groot - by shooting with stand-ins and making the final product CG rather than practical gives you a much greater range of motion and freedom to act. He's freaking out, which is a shame because I liked Chronicle.
He's ranting about how "audiences don't want to see original ideas and films these days" and for what ever point he may have I just want to say to him "Try making an entertaining and original film instead of a dull, half-baked version of Shoot 'Em Up or Wanted." That's really the other big thing about Ultra is that even though it just came out a few weeks ago, it already feels dated. From what I can remember about it for being such an unmemorable experience it honestly feels like something that should have come out when I was High School in the late 00s, when films like Shoot 'Em Up and Wanted came out, which makes me have a sneaking suspicion the reason that he's so upset is that this is a script he had been shopping for years and Chronicle gave him enough clout to get it made.
Her: 10/10 Holy shit, where do I start. The writing was incredible, masterfully weaving the various subplots together to tell the story of Theodore and Samantha. Joachim's performance made you not just feel for Theodore, it made you feel like you were actually him. Johansson's delivery was incredible as well, bringing to life an otherwise incorporeal character. The cinematography was absolutely on point. [sp]Favourite scenes include the one where Catherine signs the divorce papers as scenes of their past play out silently, as well as the one where he goes on a date with Samantha at the fair. The ending scene too: throughout the movie, he was always shown writing letters for others, to others. Finally, at the end, he finds his own voice and writes a letter to his ex-wife.[/sp] And the music. Possibly one of the best movie scores I've ever heard, although I'm probably biased because I really like the piano. All in all, an absolute gem of a movie. I definitely recommend it.

Yet it makes sense for them to use CGI for those shots but yet they still could use god damn animatronics for so many shots when it was necessary instead of just using the CGI-layed animatronic raptor heads in the one scene.
Watched Jackie Brown for the first time again since I was like 15 I'm thinking it's better than Pulp Fiction
Streets of Fire - 6/10
Prom Night (2008 version) - 3/10 I went into this with low expectations and it still sucked. Hats off to you, movie.
Fantastic Four (2015) Got free tickets to see it, knew it was going to be awful. About on par with how awful it was. Mega cringe-fest.Especially at the end when they didn't know what to call themselves and The Thing said "This is Fantastic" and Reed was just like "Say that again" I was just screaming at the screen NO NO NO NO STOP PLEASE DONT SAY IT
World War Z When this came out, I ranted about it. Quite a bit, actually. I was bored just now and I stumbled upon it and figured I should try it again. I mean, it's been 2 years, I've mellowed out a bit, let's give this another try. Surely it's not nearly as bad now, right? As it turns out, it totally still is a gigantic hunk of crap. There's no story, just stuff happening, often for insanely idiotic reasons. There's no acting, just exposition and blatant direction of where our protagonist goes next. The effects are awful, nothing looks real or even a little bit intimidating. Even the admittedly pretty cool action scenes are ruined by dreadful camera work.
child 44 I know people like to roll their eyes at the accents in this movie but i really liked how over the top they are. I think they fit the film's style perfectly. It's kind of a cheesy how the characters act but I think the actors pull it off perfectly. Really enjoyable watch imo.
친절한 금자씨 (Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, Park Chan-wook, 2005) I was expected to be disappointed because it is hard to top Oldboy. But I wasn't, it was nearly as good... Nearly. The ending went on for too long, but holy shit, the classroom scene with the parents is one of the most morally disturbing and psychologically conflicting scenes I've ever witnessed. Thus, Park Chan-wook's Vengeance Trilogy: Sympathies for Mister Vengeance (2002) - 8.5/10 Oldboy (2003) - 9.5/10 Sympathies for Lady Vengeance (2005) - 9/10 Sympathies for Mr. Vengeance is distinctly different from the other two because it's darker, more realistic and down to earth. It's also special because it's one of those films where people in an already unfortunate situation become trapped in situations worse and worse, very much like Requiem for a Dream. It's entertaining and very interesting, but it doesn't make you feel warm inside.

I watched WWZ the first time and it was poop, but then I watched it again like a year ago because my brother wanted to see it, and I ended really enjoying it. It's not perfect but it I think people don't give it enough credit because "blah blah the book". The biggest piece of bullshit in that movie is Brad Pitt surviving the plane crash, like it's not totally impossible, but he has already survived some serious shit before that. I would give like a 7/10

V/H/S: Viral: 3/10 only one out of four of the segments in this was enjoyable (Dante the Great) and that's only because of how retarded it is, but I think that was intentional. I hope.
i didnt read the book nor cared for it in the slightest and i still think the movie is poop
the movie wasn't 10/10 or anything, but it wasn't that bad.
max brooks is a hack fraud so i'm betting the movie is about as good as the novel
max brooks is a hack fraud so i'm betting the movie is about as good as the novel
his books aren't the greatest but how is he a fraud?
Any good films about the Cold War? Doesn't matter how it touches it, from spy movies to war movies. Preferably something that is known to be on Netflix or Amazon Prime, I haven't money to go out and buy a DVD.
Rocky IV
his books aren't the greatest but how is he a fraud?
because he thinks he has any authority on what is and isn't a zombie you know. a made up mythical creature. based on a real word to describe a brainless or dumb person. based on voodoo culture describing someone under someone elses control. [editline]4th September 2015[/editline] heres a tip: if the author of whatever media says or intends for something to be a zombie: it is one. they're not real. you can't concrete a definition for them. running 'infected' are zombies. slow shamblers are 'zombies'. they're all zombies if they're supposed to be. [editline]4th September 2015[/editline] that and the 'zombie survival guide' is just embarrassing
