The soundtrack to Oblivion was so good i actually went back and watched it twice.
Because M83 make music that sounds like a soundtrack anyway, so when they actually did a real one it worked out nicely.
escape from new york > the warriors
Obviously; I had given EfNY an 8/10 if I recall correctly. There's no doubt that it's better, but those two films still share a lot of similarities and deserve to be compared.
Apparently a theater near my campus is showing Ivan's Childhood early October. Good thing I found out now before seeing it via my laptop or TV at home. Rather see the film the first time in a theater.
Mad Max: Confused/10 It's a weird action film with really stupid designs and strange characters, with the film sadly being boring at points, but with the positive of it being entertaining when it's meant to. I'll watch Road Warrior next with hopes of it being better.

rewatch it, you'll disagree with yourself. also it's the 70s and they used fresh actors on purpose.
I forgot to mention that my friends and I tried to watch the first Mad Max two days ago We opted to change film after merely ten minutes me, with me whining, among other things, that the landscape wasn't looking empty and wasteland-ish enough
Found this thread open in my tab even though I never visit it. Just watched The Infinite Man and I'm gonna give it a solid 8.5/10. I've always had a thing for time travel and wow this movie just left me in awe. I really enjoyed it and do recommend it to anyone who wants to knack their brain a little, keeps you thinking until the end. Thoughtful movie.
Watched two films today. Saw Straight Outta Compton finally and was actually pretty impressed. Kind of dragged a little in the middle, but the ending was very sad and definitely more than worth it. Solid 8/10 Also rewatched American Beauty at the insistence of a friend after not really liking it the first time, and it's a lot better the second time around

"A League of Their Own" - 3/10 "We want to do a movie about the Rockford Peaches, so let's shoot it in buttfuck nowhere Indiana". There are scenes where they're driving through ''''''rockford'''''' and it has like, 5 houses. Excuse me? We were the 3rd largest city in Illinois during the 30s and 40s, for fucks sake. You had one goddamn job, it's not that hard. They're practicing in a field in one scene that doesn't look like Rockford at all. Also the movie is just bland and is a "sports feelgood cash-in".
But what about Tom Hanks's legendary performance?
Tom Hanks was the only worthwhile part of the movie
Inglourious Basterds was again on TV, and as always I had to watch it. Damn good stuff. Modern masterpiece, and from the technical standpoint - Quentin's best.
Insidious 2 5/10 Not scary. The story was, eh, serviceable I guess, but the whole thing was a jumpscare drag. The last 15 minutes were the best part, reminding me a little of the shining. That's about it. Technically it was fine, but it's completely forgettable and didn't even give me any resemblance of scare at all.
Expendables 3 5/10 It was okay. But not really any different from the first two. Mel Gibson should have had more screen time as a villain, I really didn't see him as the "bad guy" in the movie.

Masters of the Universe AKA The one where Monica meets He-Man Um. Why? Why does this movie exist? Or maybe I should say, why was this movie the result of the success of He-Man toys and cartoons in the 80s? There was definite reason to make a He-Man movie, but this is not the way it should have been done. I have vague memories of loving the cartoon and toys as a kid but I think I was too young to have ever seen the movie (Which is why, when I saw that it was on Netflix, I wanted to watch it). Probably wasn't allowed to see it by my parents, and with good reason - it doesn't feel like a kids movie at all. It would be like taking Adventure Time and making a live action movie out of it, but removing the humor and weirdness and just focusing on the violence and adding some swearing. And it's horribly acted and the fight scenes are badly choreographed and shot. It felt like they spent all the money on the costumes and sets and special effects, the only things that were actually done well in the movie (for the time. It's from 1983). So... Probably won't give it a number rating but it'd be as low as low can be. Check it out if you want to see teenage Courtney Cox and the guy who played Tom Paris on Star Trek Voyager run around with shirtless Dolph Lundgren.

Mostly good, but a problem with Skeletor's was that you could see black cloth where the holes of his nose would be. And that the lips never came together, but maybe that helps the skull look.
Just saw Mad Max: Fury Road. Fantastic movie, can't really say anything that hasn't already been said but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and for once I felt like there were actual stakes involved during the fight scenes. If you haven't seen this do so imo
Captain America: Winter Soldier Pretty predictable regarding [sp]Fury's death being faked, Pierce being the bad guy - like it's obvious from the moment he's introduced as a character -[/sp] as well as the progression of the story, but that's fine, I wasn't going in to it expecting mind-blowing plot twists, though [sp]Shield having been infiltrated by Hydra, and Bucky being the Winter Soldier are things that I didn't expect, but it'd been a while since I saw The First Avenger so it took me a minute to recognise him.[/sp] Though I could nitpick on a few of them, the action sequences were generally great and the film had good pacing. Overall 8/10, delivered well on what I expected from it.
Odd Thomas - 6/10 Nothing special but definitely worth watching once I guess. John Dies at the End - 8/10 Much better, though I haven't read the book.
John Dies at the End - 8/10 Much better, though I haven't read the book.
the parts it did show were pretty true to the book and the atmosphere of it was great, but they cut out a huge portion of the book because if they didn't they would likely have to made it into two films. The book is great though along with the sequel (This Book is Full of Spiders) and you should read it.

John Dies at the End - 8/10 Much better, though I haven't read the book.
if you liked the movie you should deffo read the book. it's tons of fun and some of the best stuff wasn't in the film
Inglourious Basterds was again on TV, and as always I had to watch it. Damn good stuff. Perfect
The best thing about Expendables 3 was the joke at the beginning when they broke Doc out of the prison train and one of the guys asked him what he was in for and he responded "tax evasion" :v
Yeah, that gave me a good laugh. These Expendable movies take themselves too seriously sometimes, it was a nice break from that.
because it's a dystopian film, not post-apocalyptic. it's during the fall of civilization, not after it.
As I said to my friends too, maybe the memories from Fury Road are too fresh for me to appreciate a movie like the first Mad Max
what a brilliant reason to stop watching a movie
Yes. And ...?
