The Killer has 100% on rt so im assuming you guys have seen that?
My favorite of the CYF and Woo movies is A Better Tomorrow. I'm not saying it has the best action but overall I just liked it more than the others.

Dom Hemingway, was expecting a gangster flick, got a feel good drama
5/10
Just watched a goofy movie again. God I love this movie. 9/10 easily.
The Look of Silence
Utterly amazing, I don't even want to rate it but a very solid 9/10
Hard to even describe what I felt seeing this, so much emotion that just grabs you by the throat.
I've managed to watch a pretty jarring combination of films here.
Aachi and Ssipak (2006) - 6/10
The style of this Korean animation reminds me a quite a bit of Dead Leaves. It's one big slurry of crude violence and innuendo with heavily stylised animation and it's a massive amount of fun. There's zero character development and zero investment in the plot but that's not what the film is going for. It does a great job at what it's trying to do which is entertain you with bright colours and explosions for an hour and a half. I don't feel like I can honestly rate it higher but if you like stuff like Dead Leaves or Redline then it's definitely recommended.
The Fake (2013) - 7/10
And right at the other end of the fun scale you've got this. There are 2 intertwined halves to this story - one about an abusive father returning to his wife and daughter in their home village, which is soon to be flooded for a reservoir, and one about a con man running a church to scam the desperate villagers. This is a film without any hero - the father character Min-chul may make it his goal to take down the man scamming his neighbours, but he's motivated by petty revenge, and even the naive pastor brought to front the church is eventually dragged down by events around him. This is really not a pleasant film, but it's a powerful bit of drama. The very realistic style of character design gave me some uncanny valley effect at first, but it works well once you get used to it.
Straight Outta Compton
Went into this film not really knowing what to expect, I loved it. Gritty, raw and gripping. Sure it's probably a Hollywood version of events but the story itself is powerful. The film is a good 2 hours + but the ending came around in my opinion too quickly. Id be happy to Sit through a longer version of events and to watch the rest of their stories.
8.5/10
Legend
Tom Hardy is amazing to watch start to finish. I felt the story slowed in pace at some points and unlike straight outta compton the film didn't fly by. However it still kept me engaged enough through some great scenes of confrontation but mainly down to the talent of Tom Hardys performance.
7/10
Taxi Driver
5/5
I got to talking about this in one of my film classes and I suddenly wanted to watch it again. Fantastic film. And it's been about a year since I first saw it too.

my friend and i were toying around with the idea of how a sequel could go down, if it ever did.
that being said i'll definitely watch the film again soon.
i saw Legend too.
it was ok. Hardy is v good on screen, in a way his Ron performance was a kind of sequel to Bronson.
I did feel it missed oppurtunities tho, and it didn't quite hit the spot.
It also did borrow a few Goodfellas vibes, but tbh in places it was v humerous.
So overall, it seemed like a slapstick, dramatic, crazy bit of film with very nice colour, it is worth a look but it's not a through and through good gangster flick.
watched starred up yesterday and boy is it good. really difficult to watch at times because it hits so hard but thats just a testament to how superb of a film it is. i deffo recommend checking this out, might be a bit hard for americans to understand all the thick south london accents though
Masters of the Universe
Was expecting a really crappy 80s action movie and my expectations were just about met. Was surprised at Skeletor, though. He really pushed the movie forward and was just over all fantastic, action and dialogue. Though half the film seemed straight ripped from Star Wars (Skeletor/Emperor leading stormtroopers?), it felt like Skeletor and his dialogue was an A level villain in a B action movie. If I ever watch it again, it'll be for him and him alone.
3/10
Rambo: First Blood
Never saw a Rambo movie before, wasn't disappointed. The only thing that I didn't like was it felt really unbelievable that things would escalate that far to the point where the National Guard would get called in all to hunt for one man.
Not sure if it was the intention (though I'm guessing more than likely it was), but the whole movie felt like one big analogy for the Vietnam War - bunch of men who don't want to be there sent out to hunt for a dangerous enemy by a lunatic in office.
8/10
Rambo First Blood: Part II
Liked it a little less than the first and this was definitely more action focused with just divinely accurate spray-and-pray gun fighting but it was still pretty good none the less. Rambo's little speech at the end about wanting America to love its vets as the vets love America felt a bit out of place, probably because of the lack of "he's a vet down on his luck" imagery like the first film.
8/10
Hoping the watch the rest of the Rambo movies later on.
Rambo III
All I got to say is
I shouldn't have to wait literally an hour into an hour and forty minute action film for the actual action.
5/10
The only Rambo movie I've seen is the 2008 one and all I remember is being amazed at the ridiculously over the top violence.

Rambo '08 was....pretty okay. The gore, as weird as this is gonna sound, served it well.
You have to set aside the "Rambo" aspect of it and just understand that it's Stallone doing actiony things with the title slapped on there for selling points.

i never liked rambo 2. it discarded everything unique about the first one, and wasn't even that fun to make up for it
i only watchd first blud cos i am smarte
Having never seen them before, I just got done watching the first three Mad Max films. Over all they were decent, I like the setting and some of the characters.
The first one hasn't aged too well in my opinion, but it was still enjoyable. The story was a bit jumpy, things didn't always follow on from each other in a way that was immediately obvious. I was still able to follow the story, though.
The road warrior is my favourite of the three by far. It was consistently enjoyable, and it was the closest to what I thought the mad max films were going to be like before I had watched any of them. I really liked this one.
Finally, I watched the third film tonight. It started off alright, but the entire second half of the film with the kids was not to my tastes at all. The ending was decent, but I don't feel as if it was worth slogging through the rest of it to get there.
I haven't seen Fury Road yet. I'm going to watch it soon and I'm interested to see what it's like compared to the others.
Those of you who have seen them all (or at least the first three), what were your opinions on them? I'm curious as to whether my experiences of them are anything like how other people found them.
I honestly never cared for the first Mad Max film. Road Warrior is one of my favorite movies, and despite popular opinion I liked Thunderdome almost as much as Road Warrior. I didn't hate the Lost Tribe like basically everybody else did. I liked Fury Road a good deal, and I'm fairly excited about the potential sequels, but I don't think it's the best thing around like everybody and their grandma did for a few months after it came out.
I'd probably personally list them in the order of RW>FR/TD>MM
My complaints about Fury Road mostly come from the fans, honestly. The movie was fine, other than not giving enough focus to Max and Tom Hardy not quite filling Mel Gibson's boots. (he makes a really fucking weird face and purses his lips for most of the movie and I am not 100% sure why)
All the "lol Xd shiny and chrome what a lovely day mediocre haha" shit people wouldn't stop spewing for weeks actually pissed me off honestly, almost to an unreasonable extent. It was super annoying, and they're not even particular good quotes in context, they're just easy to remember one liners that all the goobs attached to for some reason.
I also don't care what anybody says, the "doof warrior" was stupid. I mean, I know Mad Max has stupid characters in droves, but the "doof warrior" and the whole concept of the "doof wagon" in general just rubbed me wrong for some reason.
I pretty much agree with you, BackwardSpy. I didn't like the first Mad Max much, and I see it as the prequel to the real series rather than its first episode. Road Warrior lacked in a bit of everything, but it's still really good. Thunderdome does many things completely right, and a few wrong. Fury Road is by far the best though.
FR > RW/TD > MM
The Visit - 6/10
The Last Airbender is the only movie that's made me leave the theater, so this is pretty much a masterpiece from M. Night in comparison. Although I kind of figured out the twist pretty quickly
The Rambo films are alright. But I much preferred the rocky films
Two different types of films. But i agree. The Rocky series might be my favorite series of all time. Second to Star Wars.
Is Rocky such a good film series? I always thought it was just brainless fun about a guy who likes boxing. Is it worth watching?
There's a lot more to it than just boxing.
Is Rocky such a good film series? I always thought it was just brainless fun about a guy who likes boxing. Is it worth watching?
kinda like with rambo, you should watch the first one. the sequels are nothing like the quality of the originals
I've only seen the first one and the last one, they are both pretty great movies. Rocky IV seems to be one of the most popular in the franchise as well.
Rocky IV may be the most 80's film ever conceived
The Maze Runner
It was a movie adaptation of a teen novel. The pacing was terrible and the reason they were in the maze was stupid as fuck. It did have perhaps the biggest over reaction to a character death I have ever seen though so points for that.

See, everybody thinks that but there is a reason why it won a Academy award and the sequels are really good too, except 5.
