i'd rate the rambo movies in the order of 1, 3, 2, 4
The Maze Runner It was a movie adaptation of a teen novel. The pacing was terrible and the reason they were in the maze was stupid as fuck. It did have perhaps the biggest over reaction to a character death I have ever seen though so points for that.
I'm looking forward to your review of The Scorch Trials.
Watched the Infinite Man... solid 8/10. The comedy and characters were at times not to my tastes and the beginning was a bit slow, but by the halfway point I was interested in it. Had me guessing all the way through to the end and the writing was very clever and extremely well thought out. Was a fantastic watch and left me with a good impression.
Rocky IV may be the most 80's film ever conceived
Which somehow makes it the only one that has aged well. Like, I don't ever have the desire to watch any of the others but if 4 is on TV (which it is nearly every weekend) and there's nothing else on I'll watch the heck out of it.
Stagecoach 4/5 A pretty good movie. Kind of surprising that this was the movie that made John Wayne a star. John Ford gave the most interesting role to a complete unknown, and even then, Wayne gave a rather subdued performance. Other than that, there's not a whole lot to say about this movie. It's a fairly typical western, but I'd say if you're a fan of the genre, it's an essential.
Black Mass. Solid 7/10. Really enjoyed it. It was tense and Johnny Depp was great. It was especially fun watching the slow downfall of the FBI agent as he got more involved with Johnny Depp's character.
Scanners - My second time watching the film and I felt I enjoyed it a lot more than my first watch. Still has many memorable scenes aside from the famous exploding head one. I also seem to always like Michael Ironside's performances despite him not being a A+ actor or anything he is really fun to watch in a movie. Honestly I thought as far as visuals and audio go the film did a great job. The film contained some plotholes and flawed moments, but I still overall love the film despite them.
To follow up from yesterday, I just watched Mad Max: Fury Road. I enjoyed it, would probably give it 8 or 9 out of 10. For some reason, though, the ending left me feeling a bit off. I can't really place what it is, or even how I feel about it. It wasn't exactly disappointing, or bad as such... just something about it struck the wrong chord with me. I think I'll sleep on it and re-evaluate how I feel tomorrow.
something about it struck the wrong chord with me.
Yeah yeah yeah, everyone hates the final guitar shot.
Human Centipede 3 Completely fucking ridiculous, I rate it 1/10 stars but yet I still have zero regrets about watching it.
How tasteless is 3 compared to 2? I just remember closing 2 out after [sp]that baby got smashed by the car pedal[/sp] because that was some real low-brow shit
Rocky IV may be the most 80's film ever conceived
happy birthday paulie
Just saw the Scorch Trials. Super good as well. 8/10 for me. Saw the [sp] betrayal [/sp] coming from a mile away though.

What?
I'm looking forward to your review of The Scorch Trials.
I probably will see it just because I can for free and I have nothing better to do.
Rocky IV seems to be one of the most popular in the franchise as well.
Rocky IV is one of my favourite rocky films. My dad prefers rocky 3
Rambo '08 was....pretty okay. The gore, as weird as this is gonna sound, served it well. You have to set aside the "Rambo" aspect of it and just understand that it's Stallone doing actiony things with the title slapped on there for selling points.
It was entirely forgettable though, except for the part where he mows down all them bad guys with the 50.
It was entirely forgettable though, except for the part where he mows down all them bad guys with the 50.
I'd rather have a movie that's forgettable than a movie that makes you feel insulted, like the latest Transformers movie
Wall Street 9/10 thought I wouldn't understand any of it and be bored, but turned out to be one of the best movies I've seen in a while. I strongly recommend it, and I can't believe I've missed it up until now.
Sicario - 9/10 This was the movie experience I was expecting from The Counsellor A bleak and grey crime movie in the very bleak and grey world of the drugs trade Cinematography and scare are a 10/10
John Wick - 7/10 It was a good film for what it was. Some of the story felt clumsily organised. Personally I would have loved it if they replaced the soundtrack with synth wave music; but thats just me.
the other guys i don't care for either of the leads, and this movie didn't do much to change my opinion on them. lots of good gags ruined by ham fisted humor. it felt more slapstick-y than your average american comedy though so points for that
I finally got around to seeing The Warriors and the review a few pages ago is pretty dead-on. Solid 5/10.
The November Man Pierce Brosnan was pretty great in this film....everyone else, not so much. The plot was interesting enough to have my attention through the film and the action, though little, felt right with the pacing of the film. I'd watch it again if I had time to kill. The twists were a bit predictable, though it kept it interesting none the less. 6/10
Crash (1996 Uncut) - Wow, I'm actually unsure what to even say about this film. I've never been so unsure about my opinion on a film. After seeing about five Cronenberg films I expected it to be fucked up, but damn. The film really I can't compare to any other film.

This is by far my favorite Cronenberg film and probably somewhere in my top 20 films Honestly, I didn't really get it the first time either but it really haunted me and stuck with me, which led me to watch it again, and again, and then it dawned on me just how brilliant it was
Man of Steel I really wanted to like this film. I really did. The first two Christopher Reeves films I don't think have aged the best but I still think they're really good and I actually didn't mind Superman Returns. I actually kind of like Superman but I must admit that if not handled well that Superman can come off as a really boring super hero. To my worst fears boringness is a huge problem with this film but overall it's a jumbled mess of a film. Or perhaps I should say films because this really feels like its two halves belong in two different movies. Up until the climax this film is merely a collection of short, forgettable scenes where nothing of consequence happens that abut themselves to form a movie. Scenes that are either disjointed flashbacks or scenes in which half-baked and not particularly well fleshed out characters appear in places they have no reason to be in other than the fact that the fact that the script needs someone there and can't be bothered to come up with satisfactory reasons why and in which all the lines of dialogue are expository statements, oftentimes of things that the characters should already know. Lines such as "I'm a Pulitzer winning Journalist," or "Didn't the Daily Planet once write an article calling my website trash?" In any event none of the dialogue is written in a way that actual people talk and all of it is delivered in either flat monotone or ridiculous over the top ham.. For these and several other reasons at no point do the characters or their motivations or any of their actions throughout the movie seem reasonable or believable. In fact I might go so far as to say that ironically the only well written and believeable characters are the genocidal villains. But then at about the half way point the movie remembers that a superhero film is supposed to have action in it and attempts to make up for it with non-stop action for the rest of the movie. This also a problem for a multitude of reasons. For one this action climax that lasts seemingly more than an hour is a harsh contrast with the really boring first half of the film and would be even if the action was good but that leads to the second problem. All of this action is so gratuitous and unnecessary that this film feels less like a superhero film but some sort of disaster movie. From the second half on this feels like what we would have gotten if someone had let Roland Emmerich direct a superhero film. It also suffers from the same problem that a lot of people had with The Dark Knight in that the film is riddled with climaxes. Every 20 minutes or so after the end of the first hour we'll arrive at some setpiece or scene that feels like it should be the end of the film, but whereas the Dark Knight got away with this eventually by making each scene feeling like it was the buildup of tension until something boiled over and blew up into something big this feels like nearly the exact opposite, that there was no real need for the film to keep going on from that point other than that they wanted a longer run time. If there is one word that keeps resounding in my head when watching this film it's "unnecessary." The expository scenes and dialogue that contribute nothing to the film are unnecessary. The rampant product placement is unnecessary. The gratuitous violent action is unnecessary. The muted colors are unnecessary. The shaky cam in the action sequences is unnecessary. The fact that the film never ends is unnecessary. The fact that they rebooted the franchise is unnecessary. 4/10
Psycjo (1998): 5/10 It's pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of the original, just with really shitty acting. And that essentially ruins the whole thing. because none of the actors give a shit, there's no suspense or sense of panic and anger that made the original so damn good.
