Pretty much all "found footage" films after Blair Witch Project are shit. The narrative device itself is at fault.
Pretty much all "found footage" films after Blair Witch Project are shit. The narrative device itself is at fault.
[REC] was pretty good. Can't really say the same about the sequels or the American remake however
Last movie I watched was The Gift. Surprisingly pretty good, kinda predictable, kinda not. I rather enjoyed the acting too.
Chronicle was pretty good, and not even horror like most of them are
i never hear about it but its a pretty good ass movie
The Martian Not as good as Interstellar/10 No, really... As a space dork i give it 8.5/10 trying hard to not overrate it.
Space Mutiny: 1/10 MST3K Space Mutiny: 7/10
Pretty much all "found footage" films after Blair Witch Project are shit. The narrative device itself is at fault.
chronicle europa report blair witch is intro to found footage
Blair Witch wasn't even that good imo
I just watched Inside Out with my family. I give it a 9.5/10 It kinda made me rethink about my own life. It made me feel a little emotional, and I'm not an emotional person at all. My one and only gripe is that, at least for a Pixar movie, there really wasn't too much action. It was very dramatic, and yeah I know that's kinda the point of the movie but still. Nonetheless, the movie was another amazing Pixar adventure with the inevitable feels at the end. It's gonna be hard not to think about every action I take is decided by tiny people in my head for the next few days :v:
Sicario: 6.5/10 Kind of disappointed in it honestly. Obviously because Villeneuve directed, it was extremely well shot and extremely suspenseful, especially in the first half. But I feel it lacked a lot in comparison to Enemy and especially Prisoners, who had such compelling characters and motivation behind everything. Meanwhile I didn't really like any of the characters in Sicario. I understand the reason behind why Kate [sp]was completely useless the entire time[/sp] and usually I like when movies do this (where the protagonist [sp]is powerless in influencing the plot because of how messed up things are[/sp]) but I didn't like how it played out in this. And Alejandro's straight up "I'm doing this because [sp]revenge for murdered family!"[/sp] feels pretty uninspired. In Prisoners, Hugh Jackman's motivation is also pretty standard, but the rawness of his character and his actions made up for it, while I don't feel the same for Del Toro's. That being said, the tension and the graphic violence makes me feel like it's worth seeing anyway. Once again, Denis Villeneuve is the man. It's just that the screenplay feels really weak in comparison to Denis' previous work. [editline]4th October 2015[/editline] Oh, and whoever Jeff Donovan played as was the best character by far
Pretty much all "found footage" films after Blair Witch Project are shit. The narrative device itself is at fault.
I know other people don't like it but I thought Poughkeepsie Tapes was pretty creepy
Space Mutiny: 1/10 MST3K Space Mutiny: 7/10
Same can pretty much be said for anything MST3K/Rifftrax. There's a few where even their commentary can't save it but for the most part they turn crap into a good time.
somewhat late but i think trollhunter is enormously overrated people are always giving it 8/10 and above but i watched it and laughed at how ridiculously cheesy it was
I liked it because it didn't take itself so seriously. I mean, some of those scenes it it were clearly meant to be humorous despite the lack of comedic music or atmosphere to go along with it.
Legend (the one with Tom Hardy and Tom Hardy) 2/5 Really awful attempt at making criminal drama comedy. At times it felt like watching shitty ass hollywood comedy where all jokes are based on character saying "ASS" out loud. Tom Hardy was the best thing in movie, and conflict between brothers was interesting to follow. Unfortunately the film was more focused on romantic part which was boring and uninteresting, but the movie made it like it was so important.
The Martian Not as good as Interstellar/10 No, really... As a space dork i give it 8.5/10 trying hard to not overrate it.
Saw it today and because it's more exciting and simpler, makes it better than Interstellar for me. I shall check out the book now
Oh, and whoever Jeff Donovan played as was the best character by far
Loved his character, had no idea it was him until I had it pointed out later on :v:.
blair witch project kinda sucks dick outside of the marketing. cloverfield is superior tbh
blair witch project kinda sucks dick outside of the marketing. cloverfield is superior tbh
They're both good. They're also not comparable at all outside of the format.
i dunno i really didnt enjoy blair witch, just unscary build up and not really any pay off. i also think the two films are more similar than you'd think at a glance
Critics can idiots sometimes in not understanding film, but what's more baffling is when sites decide to hire a critic who has no knowledge of the series or what it is about to see this film. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/oct/01/dragonball-z-resurrection-f-manga-animation hem hem
It may as well be Kenny G, or Preparation H. Kudos to anybody who, in 2015, remains on-point with developments in this particular trading-card universe, but fully-formed humans will find the business of this dubbed cartoon reboot as baffling as its presence on UK screens. There’s apparently been no let-up in the gotta-catch-‘em-all battle for those translucent golden orbs, nor indeed in the churning-out of non-mouth-synched Japanese animation.
Did this critic even know what he was going to see? Pokemon?
The Martian was great.
I saw Everest, thought it was a great movie too.
I haven't read the book, so all of the problems that people had with The Martian went straight over my head. I should probably get around to reading the book soon. Also, I didn't know anything about it other than the poster so I expected this serious film, but I came out pleasantly surprised with all of the humour involved. I thought the resolve to the ending was pretty damn stupid, but the film itself knew that it was stupid... which somewhat alleviates that but doesn't really make it any less stupid. I'd say its a good 7, at least for now.
my only problem with the Martian was the [sp]tarp sealing the airlock, i mean come on[/sp]
DOPE 6/10 Nice soundtrack though. And liked the Eye of Horus shirt.
Sleepaway Camp (1983) - 5/10 Pretty generic "Slasher at a summer camp" movie, but the ending absolutely ruined whatever buildup the movie had. Don't watch it if you want something special, but a couple of the kills are pretty neat.
