Tequila Sunrise (1988) - 5/10.
Mac Mckussic is an unlikely drug dealer who wants to go straight. His old and best friend Nick Frescia is now a cop who is assigned to investigate and bring him to justice.
Kurt Russel, Mel Gibson, Michelle Pfieffer, hard to go too wrong. Had a rather poignant moment towards the end about who your friends are, but an otherwise average film.
Dirty Pretty Things (2002) - 6/10.
An illegal Nigerian immigrant discovers the unpalatable side of London life.
Pretty good, didn't like that the protagonist has this unbendable will but go figure.
Superman Returns (2006) - 6/10. Very nice and nostalgic first half let down by a rather silly second.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was pretty clearly marketed as a comedy first and a spy movie second. All of the poor reviews I've seen are mad that it's not James Bond or Mission: Impossible. Don't know why people expected otherwise.
It's more comparable to compare it to something like RED.
How do they compare to Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movies?
Soundtrack was pretty generic though.
Please elaborate how this post is wrong.

but it isn't
this is hans "write one or two motifs and repeat them for 4-5 minutes, with maybe a key change or octave jump" zimmer we're talking about. he hasn't written a good score since 2005.
duders why are you taking interstellar's "love is the most powerful force blah blah" literally
it isnt fucking love that directed cooper to murph, its the future us/aliens/what fuckin ever is that but not literal love

yes hans zimmer is the only composer who incorporates a common theme into his scores

not really the message was loud and clear
Shiet, the reviews for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. are not good. Sucks to have no good spy movies this year. I'm still going to see it anyway tho.
But there was Kingsman...

Interstellar's soundtrack was breathtaking and had me in awe. I don't even understand how some people cannot feel anything when listening to something like this.
But there was Kingsman...
Shit, I thought it was last year. Kingsman was fucking great.
Anyway, without further ado, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
Not Ritchie's worst, but obviously not his best. Not many setpieces, lame villan, underdeveloped relationship between the agencies. I feel like it suffered from it's use of screen-time.
However, I did like seeing Adolf Hitler and boobs in a 12+ movie. The lead actors contrasted well, in my opinion, and the jokes were alright.
It was ok, 6/10 kind of ok.
not really the message was loud and clear
what message? if I shout "the power of luck will help me drive to a gas station" its not the power of luck driving, its my hands on the wheel
No Country for Old Men - The modern set western isn't a genre explored a ton, but it has a lot of great potential as this film demonstrates. Really an amazing film. Great actors, great shots, a thrilling plot without resorting to cheap gimmicks or tricks. Sorry if this review is a bit empty, I posted a more in-depth one last night, but FP fucked up so I lost it.

Sounds pretty generic to me tbh. It's like he followed a formula for "epic movie soundtrack" point by point.
What if Hans Zimmer is so good all he does is just make epic movie soundtracks, and it is just what we come to expect from him? He literally created his own genre of movie soundtrack.

I really don't see what you think is generic in this song. How many epic movie soundtracks use organs prominently to evoke the majesty and gigantic size of the universe?

i present to you hans zimmer's entire interstellar score

I usually dislike Hans Zimmer's scores, but I really loved his score for Interstellar.
Even though the movie was overall bad I liked his score for The Fountain

oops it's actually Clint Mansell...don't know why I got them confused

it's a film. and it's a message. it's not a literal direction. it's an underlying message.

do you like, have ears? are you deaf and making assumptions?
[editline]14th August 2015[/editline]
like i agree that hans stagnates quite a bit. but the docking song from interstellar is excellent.
While it's undeniable that Hans likes to reuse his soundtracks making certain pieces plain lazy, the Interstellar OST was a fresh breath of something magical and a sing of sheer genius from here. It was both simplistic and grand-scale like. It captures the right atmosphere and hits the right chores. Just stellar. Interstellar.
Yeah, I feel like the comparisons to Philip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi score were well deserved
Harbinger Down (2015)
A piece of shit. Alec Gillis singlehandedly killed the production effects industry.
Terrible production, terrible direction, terrible script. I fuck this movie with all my heart. You know those shit movies from the early 00's that are not so-bad-it's-so-good but just bad, boring and look like shit? This is basically the same experience.
Do yourself a favor and watch The Thing instead.
Fuck this movie.
tHis is less of a review and more of question lawrence of arabia what kind of way should I wacth it doing to be being a lArge move 3 hour's and should I get LE/SE bLu-ray sEt or something also

I was extremely wary from the get-go with "Harbinger Down" because the pitch was all "this will be a movie with practical effects!!" but said nothing about actors, writers, and so forth. I don't give a shit how neat the effects are if the movie is dumb. Back in the days before CG there were a lot of awful movies with practical effects.

To be honest, the actors were fine, even if Lance Henriksen looked like he'd been there just for the paycheck. There is no place for character development because of the movie's pitiful screentime (less than 90 minutes), but at least you know everyone's place in the crew.
A thing I want to add about the practical effects - people always say that with practical stuff the actors have something to react to. In this movie, they don't, and the monster looks like spaghetti.

either you liked it or you didn't, idk what to say. how is it generic though?? just because he uses a common theme in his works doesn't make it so
Yeah, I feel like the comparisons to Philip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi score were well deserved
i've definitely compared it to koyaanisqatsi, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. koyaanisqatsi is dope. and it was different enough to have it's own vibe.

is this the movie that was the practical effects response to The Thing remake/prequel?
[editline]14th August 2015[/editline]
that's a real shame if it's terrible.

I loved Toecutter's movement throughout the film. Made him seem very animal-like.
hans zimmer is the phil collins of movie composers :-)

fuck yeah, definitely. Koyaanisqatsi is one of my favorite films easily. I listen to the score all the time
The Running Man - If you go into it expecting a serious scifi movie with a moral lesson and deep themes you'd be disappointing, but as a cheesy action movie it is fun. Still could've been better though. Some of Arnold's lines felt very forced and imo. After reading a quick plot synopses on the original book it was based on, it's really interesting thinking what the film could've been. Nevertheless I still had fun watching wrestlers and body builders fighting each other and shit in a dystopian future.
