rocky and rambo are the most boring films to discuss
i mean they are good movies with heartfelt themes imo, nothing that exceptional about the stories but i still think it's interesting how different they are from the sequels
every rocky and rambo sequel is offensive because they totally disgrace the good original ideas. in a perfect world thet would have made them and just called them something else. they go from tortured vietnam vet to vengeful one man army killing machine and underdog, brain damaged boxer to I MUSTT BREAK YOU. and the caricature of rocky you see in family guy etc. without a doubt came from the sequels when the brain damage stuff just started to become cheap sideshow
Stallone explained why the brain damage thing wasn't such a big deal and still let Rocky fight:
"When Rocky was diagnosed with brain damage, it must be noted that many athletes have a form of brain damage including football players, soccer players, and other individuals in contact sports such as rugby, etc. Rocky never went for a second opinion and yielded to his wife's wishes to stop. So with the advent of new research techniques into brain damage, Rocky was found to be normal among fighters, and he was suffering the results of a severe concussion. By today's standards Rocky Balboa would be given a clean bill of health for fighters."
Return of the Jedi 10/10 Cried like a motherfucker
Interstellar's ending wasn't mindfuckish though, just really shitty.
it's for a casual audience though, if it would have been stuff like primer people would just have been let down not that i understand primer at all but still
The Nightmare- 5/10 Wasn't as much based on looking into sleep paralysis as much as just "here's some people telling their stories about it", and it was pretty repetitive. To give it credit though, there were a few mildly spooky moments. The goofiness just kinda outweighs it. [editline]27th October 2015[/editline] Return of the Jedi is easily the worst of the original trilogy, but it's still fantastic. Is it weird that I'm more concerned for episode 7 than I ever was with the prequels? The ending to ROTJ always seemed so "final" to me.
Even in my childs eye, the celebratory bonfire and party at the end of RotJ was just a night off, and the morning after Leia woke up, got dressed, found her blaster and started getting everyone back on track. There's a whole lotta Galaxy out there and the Empire still exists in some corner of it.
Spectre 8/10 Not as good as Skyfall but I still found myself very much enjoying it, I don't even care that it's worse personally. Its certainly much better than the mediocreness of most of the Marvel films. Will probably give this a revisit on Blu-ray at some point.
Spectre A lot better than I expected and definitely the best craig bond movie. Dragged a bit in the middle but everything else made up for it.
The Martian Matt Damon is just really entertaining to watch in just about anything, which is this movie's biggest strength I think. The rest of it is really good and a pretty cool scenario to see thought out, but it screams "the book is better" with a lot of sequences that feel rushed. Still a solid 8.5/10 from me
Day of the Dead - 7/10 i was not prepared for that you know exactly what im talking about
Day of the Dead - 7/10 i was not prepared for that you know exactly what im talking about
no i've seen the film and do not know what you're talking about
dat [sp]vocal chord screech[/sp] :disgust: [sp]"CHOKE ON IT"[/sp] is seriously the best thing ive ever heard in a zombie movie though
Spectre mmm dats one atmospheric bond movie. I'll have to watch it again because it's v soothing and moody, very much a movie for late night. Classically, it follows standard procedure. But it's not boring tbh, it has a nice smooth flow and imo reminiscent of Skyfall's movement. I have to say, they still haven't got the gunbarrel on target. It just isn't as lethal as a Brosnan, not subtle at all. But that being said, Craigy is v craig and this time he's a bit more relaxed into his miserable yet smooth delivery. I think this will be the last of the craig era, and good to move on. Waltz is demonic. That is all. i thought bringing his character would cheesen it up a little bit and in a way it did. It's rootsy too. I think for people, this will be either craig's best, or second; at last he has a level of suave and not just grr and argh all the time. There's one sequence where he escapes and he kills it. [editline]28th October 2015[/editline] all in all, exspectre a high quality bit of footage. [editline]28th October 2015[/editline] also nice intro and batista is fucking lethal wtf
Sicario 8/10 Felt a lot like Zero Dark Thirty only more interesting and less Jessica Chastain having PMS
The Martian, Was pretty good, kind of annoyed me that it had sound in open space.
Spectre A lot better than I expected and definitely the best craig bond movie. Dragged a bit in the middle but everything else made up for it.
Yeah, the movie felt too long and too slow and it still felt like parts were missing.
In the Mouth of Madness 6.90592120 out of 8 Fun as shit, really stupid, falls apart near the end, not my favorite director's best not even close but fun ass movie. Come and See 9.9998 out of 9.9999 One of the best movies. Best sound ever for a movie, horror in audio form. I appreciated that there was almost no real gore, just darkness. Rewatched: Conan the Barbarian 10/10 One of the best movies, comes relatively close to Robert E. Howard's original Conan. Is metal as fuck, has great set design, costume design, badass buff dude with a hammer, giant fucking snakes, hot girls with tits, hot monster girls with tits, green slime soup, fucking Aku from Samurai Jack. Wish there was more high adventure sword and sorcery movies with that much creativity, adventure, brutality, and wonder. Sweet Movie 1/10 Thought it was gonna be a cool edgy surrealistic arthouse movie, turned into a bunch of boring symbolical shit about sex or something. Really shitty. I hated it. The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires 11/10 one of the greatest movies ever made, I can't even explain how awesome this movie is. It's got everything that's awesome in it. One of the most fun cult classics period.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 6/10 Disappointing Guy Ritchie film, and a barely above average action/spy flick. Inbetween the mostly mediocre action scenes, which are too few and far apart, we have some pretty funny jokes and dialogue exchanges that the movie benefits from. Other than the stylish finesse of Ritchie, and some of the writing there is very little to like. A great climactic action sequence is sorely lacking in the last part of the movie, it just consists of a clumsily put together montage, and a chase scene involving people with different vehicles catching up with other people, rather than some one-on-one fight or anything of the sort. Watch it if you're bored, it ain't shit. side note: the russian guy was way more badass than the protagonist, he went through many more life-threatening situations. I don't know the actor, but I think he pulled off the role pretty damn well.
Yeah, the movie felt too long and too slow and it still felt like parts were missing.
ye tbh the thing that was missing for me is the intro should definitely had a one liner when [sp]he chucks that asshole out of the helicopter[/sp] because then it would have made sense other than leaving it ambiguous. and being that it was the festival for the [sp]dead[/sp], he could have easily said something like "enjoy THE PARADE". other than that, decent film.

Casino Royale made that very clear. On the topic of a darker Bond, I'm not over analyzing when I thought this movie had quite the anti surveillance tone am I? Remember M describing the [sp]privately owned surveillance company with access to every 1st world government's secret service resources[/sp] as "Orwell's worst nightmare"?
Craig's Bond isn't a one liner kind of Bond though, he's a dark, morally challenged government employed assassin and he knows it.
Worst James Bond.
Worst James Bond.
Roger Moore?
Worst James Bond.
That's how Ian Fleming wrote Bond, killer first gentleman second. Besides, Timothy Dalton did the whole "tortured borderline lunatic murderer" Bond before Craig got a shot at it and arguably did it worse.
James Bond is classy, Craig is just a thug.
he was cold and methodical. "thug" would be the last thing on my mind

hello hi i am just here to remind you all that james bond is a rapist man thanks [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] hello you are trying to shower? what if i come aboard your boat, undress myself, and sneak into the shower with you, and the first moment you realise i am even here, my hardon is already smacking between your thighs like i'm playing the triangle. [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] you are telling me surprising someone with sex isn't okay? you need consent???
John Wick - One of the best action movies I've seen awhile. Like I am having trouble finding any fault in this film. Can't wait for the upcoming sequel although I'm curious how exactly it will continue from the first and how it can live up to the first.
I think the movie, or the action, felt kinda tooo streamlined. But it wasn't a bad movie at all.

The only good bond movies are casino royale and skyfall as far as I'm concerned tbh everything else is trashy schlock like all the old bond movies are embarrassing
does this happen in Spectre?
Yes he literally breaks in to a woman's house and rapes her. Not even joking. It was pretty damn uncomfortable.
