The Martian - 7/10 Didn't know anything about it, dad wanted to see it with me at the cinema.. Nothing spectacular, was pretty slow overall but with some feelgood moments - would probably not watch again.
George Lazenby is my favorite bond! Also I mentioned a skype party, I'd think to do it another time.
Finally got around to watching The Grand Budapest Hotel This movie has dethroned Fantastic Mr. Fox to claim the title of my personal favorite Wes Anderson movie. It has all the classic storybook charm of all of Andersons movies, but now it has a story as fascinating and captivating as his characters, as well as having some fucking hilarious and memorable dialogue. Probably his best work ever.
I can't decide if I like Royal Tenenbaums or Grand Budapest Hotel more
The Host - Not what I expected from a monster movie and that is a good thing. Loved the part [sp]where he counted bullets wrong. It totally caught me off guard.[/sp]
moonrise kingdom best hands down
The Gift (2015) 8/10 Definetly one of the best thriller/mysteries this year. After watching it and thinking about it for a while, it's not that original but I failed to predict most of the twists so I can't really complain. Although I could see certain things coming from a mile away. It's crafted really well, from the photography to the slow-building tension. Strongly recommend it if you're into thrillers.
Okay, here something completely different: Ragin Cajun Redneck Gators It was a long time since I saw a movie this badly made. I usually leave that to funny people on the internet to add hilarious commentary. Me and my brother in a long time had nothing better to do, saw this title and had to turn on the TV (In Czech they named it Mutated Werecrocodiles from the Swamp which looking back is a spoiler.). Anyway, terrible cuts, character motivation changes from scene to scene and terrible effects. Don't get me started on the sci-fi/supernatural reasoning. We had few good laughs but it started to drag after a while. The main heroine was pretty though.
moonrise kingdom best hands down
Really? Aside from Edward Norton and Bruce Willis's characters I didn't like it as much as other anderson movies. Not totally sure why, maybe it's because I found the two "main" characters fairly uninteresting.

It's a movie that could make me feel happy no matter what. The Royal Tenenbaums is almost the same but not quite while Life Aquatic and Grand Budapest felt a bit cold to me and Rushmore I just plain didn't like very much. Not seen Fantastic Mr Fox or The Darjeeling Limited yet.

i have such a backlog oh god
The Human Centipede: First Sequence I can't give this film a rating because I came to the point where I'm unsure if this movie is good or not. Like, the film is unsettling sure, but I'm unsure if that's either a good or bad thing with this one in particular. You're probably better off watching it and judging for yourself.
I've never had an urge to watch splatter films
I just don't like movies that are disgusting for the sake of being disgusting
The Fog - John Carpenter really is amazing at creating tense atmospheres. Not one of Carpenter's best films, but it is still a really great horror film.
I know I'm late to the party as hell, but I've finally seen it. Sicario (Denis Villeneuve, 2015) 9/10 I think everything's been said already.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Big fan of their work, so I've seen it before and still love it all the same. See it if you haven't basically.
Worst part about showing Holy Grail to a friend is that if they haven't laughed within the first ten minutes, it probably isn't for them. Has anyone in here seen this movie with someone who absolutely hated it? It's one of the most awkward situations imaginable.
yep i told him he was retarded

though honestly I got to watch it again so it's all good [editline]31st October 2015[/editline]
you did hit him, right?
I half assed it because I was watching the movie
Brazil - Oh my God, that was one of the most amazing films I have ever seen. I cannot even think of what genre to put it into because it does so much. I'm glad I went in as blind as I did because damn, that was just purely great. Loved the [sp]negative ending. It fit so perfectly especially how it was hidden before the very end.[/sp]
Way of the gun 6/10 This is a hard movie to judge. Its failings are also its strengths, its a very unconventional movie and thats probably why critics didn't care for it but it had something of a cult following when it came out on VHS/DVD. The protagonists aren't good guys, in fact they are almost certainly scumbags. The plot slowly becomes more complex over the course of the film, and characters that initially appear incidental are revealed to have deeper connections and motivations to central characters. The dialogue is almost David Mamet-esque sharpness but without mamet's goobly gook-no-one-actually-talks-like-this-IRL execution. Gun nerds like this film because it showcases firearms and some real world tactics, but I didn't care for that as much as I did about how differently and more realistically this film portrays violence compared to every other hollywood film: the "good" guys don't have perfect aim, the "bad" guys don't have stormtrooper aim, people aren't always sure footed and decisions made in the heat of the moment end up having appropriately unconsidered consequences. For example in one fight in the film, Phillipe's character leaps over a wall to take cover, in doing so, lands on a pile of broken glass and beer bottles tearing his arm up painfully. Del Toro's character hides behind a pillar and needs a few moments to gather his courage. People miss their shots, a lot of wasted ammo - it feels like an actual fight, not a dance. This is all a far cry from the usual hollywood shootout affair where in the main characters cooly walk through the set shooting in all directions and hitting their marks without breaking a sweat. Overall, its not a great film, and is somewhat disappointing in that there are a few moments that make you feel like writer/director McQuarrie was trying to extract something deeper but hadn't quite developed it yet. But its still a decent film, and contains one of the best opening scenes ever. If you hate Sarah Silverman as much as I do, you might agree:

Rusty, why don't you like Brazil?
because it is classic terry gilliam - style over substance. it was just about nothing and i hated every second of it [editline]1st November 2015[/editline] it really gets in your face and hits you over the head with its style which i found to be completely hollow
Brazil is amazing, Rusty is wrong.

A film can focus heavily on style while still maintaining substance. [editline]1st November 2015[/editline]
Brazil is amazing, Rusty is wrong.
Oh, I already know Rusty has bad opinions, it's okay. Except he likes John Carpenter which is 👌 in my book.

"nothing is what it seems"?
