oh lord was that awful Robert Altman movie not enough
The Abyss (Special Edition) - The film had great sets and mostly great effects, especially after reading how terrible of a process was for everyone involved just to get the perfect shots. I enjoyed the human based conflicts, but felt the film would have been much better if [sp]intelligent water aliens[/sp] was cut out completely. The only reason I felt it was in was to start and end the plot, which could have been done in better ways.

Honestly I would have just been content [sp]never seeing the godddamn merpeople in the first place[/sp] but I'm fine with there being an [sp]alien influence on the plot and characters[/sp] as long as its kept properly mysterious and interesting. I feel like the [sp]giant purple sea cucumbers rising up out of the gotdamn ocean feat. our protagonists[/sp] was jumping the gun a hell of a lot but I don't think it weakens the preceding scenes much, if only because the majority of the movie is so gripping and wonderful.
sorry, but a real peanuts movie would be hand-drawn, not this 3d nonsense like they did with peabody & sherman.
Peabody and Sherman was bad because it was bad, not because it was cg.

I feel like Cameron himself didn't know exactly where he wanted to go with it so had to wrap it all up with a sort of half assed plot device tbh. Still a great film though.
How to Train Your Dragon - 6 or 7/10
Nice setting and concept but I felt like the story was very cookie cutter. Like at one point Astrid says something along the lines of "whose side are you on? The humans or the dragons?" even though this is before anyone knew that Hiccup was helping the dragon. That's just one example of dialogue that felt really artificial. Despite that, the tone of the movie was pretty mature, which is why I think a lot of people like it, and the camerawork is something you don't usually see in an animation and I thought that was neat.
So I hear How to Train your Dragon 2 is better?

i liked it. has some of the same problems but gets more creative with its plot and characters (and with some of the dragon designs as well)

Either that or it was a darling he should have killed from the start. Guy's kind of a sentimentalist if his filmography proves anything.
i think we all get the music tries to do that. Its the part where it doesnt work that make people say that kind of thing. I have heard tons of ironic ost's and this doesnt really work the first time you see it.
you've got a lot of people in this thread saying they think it worked perfectly though? so i dont think you can say that it factually didnt

That movie was awful? I loved it as a kid
Tbh I still love it. I probably love it for all the reasons people hate it. It's just so fuckin twisted and every joke that works feels like a cocaine fueled accident and I love every second of it.
That movie was awful? I loved it as a kid
That's not saying much. I loved the Garfield movie when I was a kid.
The Hunt-9/10
Never saw a movie that was this frustrating and made me swear at the screen so much.
Don't watch this if you're in a good mood cause it will ruin it :v:

There was a point in my life where I could quote the Spongebob movie front to back
Hell, I could still probably do it and enjoy myself while doing it

The Spongebob movie is a legit funny movie. I was just watching it 2 days ago fixing gameboys.
The Spongebob Movie is actually fairly okay for what it is. It definitely feels like a "we should end the show here" kind of movie.
I haven't seen the second one yet, bit apprehensive about that one. All I know about it is the [sp]Epic Rap Battle near the end.[/sp]
And yeah, the first Spongebob movie is pretty great. The game for it was pretty good too, considering it was basically a reskinned version of Battle for Bikini Bottom
Ant-Man
I didn't like it at all. I didn't like the characters, the attempts at humour, the cringeworthy dialogue or the overall blandness. I don't think I've been this bored during an action movie since transformers 2.

Yeah pretty much after the movie the show went downhill.
As far as I know, the man behind Spongebob, Stephen Hillenburg, intended the first movie as a gran finale for the series as a whole and didn't want the show to go on after it
Well ...

obviously, they offered him more money
And he wrote for the most recent one, which is why is better than the show's been.

Not only late because the movies are old, but also late for BTTF day. Either way, I enjoyed part 1 more than I enjoyed part 2. I have yet to watch part 3, but part 2 felt like it resolved nothing. It wasn't very satisfying. Every time an issue came along, it got fixed, but the fix created a new problem.
Also it might just be the age, but a lot of the story felt predictable. The gags also. Doc travelling back to the Wild West was more than just hinted at, it was thrown in your face. So when it happened it didn't feel like "wow", it felt more like "finally". And how many more times can Michael J Fox tell somebody to look somewhere?
I have to say I still very much enjoyed part 2, but I enjoyed the first one more for sure. Going to watch part 3 tomorrow, and hope it can conclude the story a bit.
Amelié
8/10
This movie is unbelievably comfy, really takes me back.

I'd rank them 1 > 3 > 2
A lot of people don't like 3 very much because it's so different from the other two, but I think it manages to be different enough to be interesting and fresh - I liked how there was a subplot involving Doc, since the first two movies were pretty much all Marty doing his thing. It's also the only one where the character development involves Doc and Marty - 1 was about his parents, 2 was about Biff.
The [sp]final action sequence on the train[/sp] is also very well shot and exciting, almost as good as the clock tower scene near the end of part 1
spectre - 8/10
i really don't know what you guys were going on about before, this is definitely no 2 in the craig series. it was a classic bond flick in every sense of the word.
i'd rate them in this order
casino royale > spectre > skyfall > quantum of solace
i havent seen it yet but i find it hard to believe that spectre was better than skyfall idk
obviously, they offered him more money
No, he just left and they kept the series going without his input
UHF - 7.5/10
Sort of destined to be a cult movie, this is a fun screwball comedy. Some parts feel dated or awkward but by and large the wide variety of jokes are great. "Spatula City", "Gandhi II", "The Ballad of Jed Clampett", and "Supplies!" are probably my favorite gags.
