i havent seen it yet but i find it hard to believe that spectre was better than skyfall idk
they both suck
skyfall was good but it was hardly bond, could have been any secret agent man story. also, people tried hyping it up to be the best bond because it reminded them of the dark knight. fuck people. spectre was much more of a bond film than the last two, which is why i rate it up with casino royale.
so how do you start watching movies again when you're in a slump? I haven't watched a movie in over a week now and every time I try to start one I just turn it off after ten minutes
so how do you start watching movies again when you're in a slump? I haven't watched a movie in over a week now and every time I try to start one I just turn it off after ten minutes
For me, it really depends on the movie. When I'm not in the right mood, I usually don't bother with movies where you really have to invest yourself into the movie but would rather go with some easy to watch stuff. Action, comedy or horror usually works, even if they aren't great movies. Or just watch an episode of a tv show or something
Spectre 9/10, don't let anyone tell you this movie is terrible or bad. Felt like Craig was finally really James Bond in this film.

[editline]16th November 2015[/editline] and that people who like that, aka the old bonds, will like this one
Oldboy God. I feel kind of gross after watching this. People who have seen it will probably understand. I don't really know what I just watched, or why, but it was damn good.
Oldboy God. I feel kind of gross after watching this. People who have seen it will probably understand. I don't really know what I just watched, or why, but it was damn good.
that squid eating scene
that squid eating scene
that paled in comparison to some of the scenes in the last 30 minutes
i think, what i have decided from all this, is that i just hate james bond? he is a deplorable asshole starring in incredibly generic and boring, soulless, power fantasy, 1 dimensional spy films? [editline]16th November 2015[/editline] and that people who like that, aka the old bonds, will like this one
I think you're too busy looking for some in-depth social or moral theme/commentary to every film to just take a step back and enjoy it for what it is - a somewhat cheesy, cliche spy-action movie where the hero kicks ass and gets the girl at the end.
I think you're too busy looking for some in-depth social or moral theme/commentary to every film to just take a step back and enjoy it for what it is - a somewhat cheesy, cliche spy-action movie where the hero kicks ass and gets the girl at the end.
but that's really outdated (And yes, for a good reason). the Craig reboot specifically tried to get away from where the classic Bonds were going stale in the end of the last century. he looked more like a ruffian, he struggled through and was injured by significant failures, he was less trained, he was more brutal, he was too trusting. even if you give the series back all the classic stuff that many pined for, what is it for? are you resigning to go back so you can rehash 40 years of nostalgia? at the very least, i would really hope we could make a modern Bond movie where he isn't a rapist. Casino Royale was so good for finally deciding to change things up. what do we have to go backwards for?

watched Raging Bull 4/5 i'm da boss
which is why casino royale was a better movie in every way
alongside with on her majesty's secret service because it doesn't go for the typical bond formula. which is even more surprising considering how old it is.
i think, what i have decided from all this, is that i just hate james bond? he is a deplorable asshole starring in incredibly generic and boring, soulless, power fantasy, 1 dimensional spy films?
I meant to tell you that some time ago because I had suspected it, but I forgot to. Though there probably are a couple James Bond films that you could like better, which have a little more depth. Have you tried From Russia with Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service or License to Kill? Or Casino Royale too, I'd say.

[editline]16th November 2015[/editline] and that people who like that, aka the old bonds, will like this one
well yeah, they were like action romp films the best thing the craig films do is get more into the psyche of being james bond. funny enough, it all still fits in with the "007 james bond is just a codename" theory, even with skyfall.
I for one can't wait until this thread stops talking about James Bond
and that people who like that, aka the old bonds, will like this one
Or they won't, because they'll be dissatisfied with a film consisting of only jerking to the older Bonds and ruining THE Bond villain.
he is a deplorable asshole starring in incredibly generic and boring, soulless, power fantasy, 1 dimensional spy films?
james bond is not an admirable character lol. but the reason I think BonD Jeames Bond is success is because he's so fucking smugly suave it's painful. and that is good. [editline]16th November 2015[/editline] even tho Craig is a miserable twat, he's still suavely miserable.
I for one can't wait until this thread stops talking about James Bond
Well if it's the last movie we saw... :v:

Watched The Imposter a few days ago. Amazing movie. 10/10. Would recommend to anyone. Surprisingly dramatic and full of plot twists for a documentary.
i think i thought casino royale was okay, i forget. it's been a while. i do like mads, though. he was really squandered, especially retroactively by the latest film, by being relegated to the 'first sub-villain'
But that's what he was? He was a banker for terrorists who lost his clients' money and entered the poker game to try and win it back.
i think, what i have decided from all this, is that i just hate james bond? he is a deplorable asshole starring in incredibly generic and boring, soulless, power fantasy, 1 dimensional spy films?
There wasn't a generic until there was Bond
There wasn't a generic until there was Bond
they're still dull. and it makes no sense to go BACK to a dull formula that's been done to death
they're still dull. and it makes no sense to go BACK to a dull formula that's been done to death
But it hasn't. I mean, there's James Bond, and then there's ______ It's just the place people go for a certain thing. It's like Call of Duty. Most put-upon franchise in games nowadays, but it's still probably the most successful too. It's because it's a very specific collection of sights sounds and feelings that people want and expect from a very specific name. I don't like it, but I'm not gonna call it dull when it's clearly sharp enough to pull the quantity of players it does. That doesn't make any sense. It didn't get dull, you just developed a callus. It's fine. It's human.
Turbo Kid - 8/10 Got off to a bit of a slow start but boy was this fun. Just a really genuine adventure film, with an eye for creative designs and a skillful use of a low budget. Also: literal fountains of blood and gore! If you're looking for a fun little post-apocalyptic movie go ahead and give it a watch.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation - 9/10 I just finished watching this and this scene pictured below is missing: Anybody notice this or did you see this scene? Please let me know.
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. 6/10 It was okay, but I was at once reminded why I don't watch South Park. I completely get the message, but when it's delivered to the tunes of "shut your fucking face uncle fucker," it gets kind of diminished. The issues are presented intelligently, but it's wrapped in low-tier humor... I honestly found it as irritating as Terrance and Phillip's Asses of Fire, the parody film in the movie. Like it was parodying itself. So it gets points for being smart and intelligently-written, and there's a very real nugget of truth and social commentary in there, but it's covered in poo. EDIT: Okay, apparently people disagree. Did I miss something, or was the humor just lost on me?

Plus, the "exploitation" elements didn't even faze me in the slightest because they looked so obviously fake I really ought to stop watching genre-revival stuff with any hope. Should've learned my lesson after Kung Fury
