Hunger games 2 though was pretty good. The rest is meh.
Just saw Grease in theaters thanks to TCM. It was great seeing it on the big screen, it was a sing along though which kind of bothered me since I just wanted to watch Grease as it was originally released, not with annoying graphics that were a little overdone in some scenes. It really wasn't that big of a deal, but the option to watch it without them would have been nice. Solid experience though, and if you can I highly recommend going to see it if you're into musicals.
Gone Girl 8/10 I came in expecting to know what this movie was like but instead got an enthralling but disturbing movie that I quite enjoyed Reznor did a great job with the OST too but yeah that was some heavy shit
Ant-Man 9/10 pretty funny I guess, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
Ant-Man 9/10 pretty funny I guess, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
i can agree to everything but your rating no way was it a 9/10, 7/10 at best
The Descent - 9/10 fuck. if you haven't seen this go into it totally blind [sp]hehe[/sp] that ending was incredible

What I took from it is that I'm not going in any goddamn caves. [editline]16th August 2015[/editline] Oh, what's that other movie where there's people stuck in a subterranean monster city? There was some flying things or whatever. [editline]16th August 2015[/editline] Awgh, you made me think of The Descent, now I'm not going to be able to have a normal sleep cycle.

I wish they had just done the standard subtitles rather than the animations.
Altered States - It was a good pretty creepy scifi film until the [sp]man monkey part[/sp] where I'd say it jumped the shark. Were some good parts later on though like [sp]when reality all fucking breaks down near the end when the tank explodes.[/sp] I personally thought the ending [sp]was really poorly done and felt a bit stupid. A negative ending would've really fit the film much better and a positive one could've been done better.[/sp] Also I don't get [sp]why the film decided to ditch a lot of the religious imagery later on. The image of hell early on was very well made and memorable.[/sp] Despite many flaws, I'm still glad I watched the film though.
I came upon a childhood classic I used to have on VHS as a kid. Cat's and Dogs. The movie still holds fond memories and I enjoyed it as much I did back then.
Attack on Titan 7/10 This movie is half insane, half stupid. This is the kind of movie that has 100 foot tall monsters that look like naked mutilated humans without sex organs and they eat people(the insane part) and someone shoots arrows at them(example of the stupid). This is the kind of movie where someone goes wandering off from the group because they hear something(the stupid part) but it turns out to be a disturbing freaky something(the insane part). I don't watch anime or read manga but I can tell that a lot has been compressed for this movie. Characters are sketchy, one character eats a lot, that's it, that's the character. I'm sure there was more depth to it in the original version. Even so, it's worth it for the titans. They're sick and disturbing creatures. A lot of this movie is pure nightmare fuel. Any movie that can creep into my dreams like this one did must be doing something right.
The Descent - 9/10 fuck. if you haven't seen this go into it totally blind [sp]hehe[/sp] that ending was incredible
this movie is honestly perfect to me and I would put it in my top 20 films or so
Man, I remember The Descent being pretty decent but I don't remember it being that good. It was like 10 years ago though, so I might have to re-watch it or something.
I liked The Descent, but I almost wish it was just [sp]cave exploration and all the tension came from that, with no monsters.[/sp] I still liked it though.
I liked The Descent, but I almost wish it was just [sp]cave exploration and all the tension came from that, with no monsters.[/sp] I still liked it though.
Give Sanctum a shot. (if you haven't already)
make sure you watch the original uncut version of the descent. the american ending sucks
jurassic world - not that bad/10 i can see where everyone saying this is awful is coming from, but it wasn't unwatchable, just bland. lots of scenes that were probably great on paper and would've been great on screen if the movie had a bit more style, but it just felt like "movie" i'll give it credit for setting up stuff well though, everything that happens at has a bit of "oh they talked about this before" which sounds like something that should be a standard and not worthy of praise, but with hollywood schlock that's how it goes i guess wouldn't recommend it as a dumb fun movie because there's much better ones out there, but it won't be a pain to sit through if you catch it on a plane or something
make sure you watch the original uncut version of the descent. the american ending sucks
unsure which i saw a long time ago. what's the difference?
unsure which i saw a long time ago. what's the difference?
[sp]iirc the original she doesn't escape the cave but hallucinates that she escapes, while in the american ending the hallucination is real and yay she escaped everything's fine[/sp]
I came upon a childhood classic I used to have on VHS as a kid. Cat's and Dogs. The movie still holds fond memories and I enjoyed it as much I did back then.
Most live action kid's movies from that era were god awful.
Dog Soldiers - 8/10 Still a great movie, still a lot of fun. Also, best 'about to be killed off' line ever.
Oh, what's that other movie where there's people stuck in a subterranean monster city?
mario bros.?
Oh, what's that other movie where there's people stuck in a subterranean monster city? There was some flying things or whatever.
Journey to the Center of the Earth? Was pretty meh. Also there was some movie where everyone lived underground because nukes or w/e but then they made a tough journey and up and it was all ok up above ground for some reason. Iirc.

Deathwatch - 5/10 Maybe it's because I haven't seen this in at least 7 years but I don't remember this movie being so goddamn boring! It's not so much of the lack of any real events (though it does feel that way at times), it's the fact that the parts where nothing happens are just completely devoid of anything to keep your attention. It becomes a crawl up to the climax.
Under the Skin: ??/10 what the fuck did I just watch
The Man from U.N.C.L.E This was a lot of fun. It maintained the 60s atmosphere really well I thought, especially the way that the actors performed their roles, but what's more is the fact that I liked the idea that this film is both a tribute and a parody of these old spy films and the tv series that it's based on (which I have never seen). For example there is one sequence early on where after picking apart a clock only to reveal a bug mic, the agent then goes through his entire hotel room to discover that nearly every single thing in his hotel room is bugged. If you're a fan of the old spy films, the kind that are rather light hearted and not particularly serious with themselves, go give it a watch. 7/10
Gangs of Wasseypur - 8/10 First things first this is definitely the longest film I've ever watched. It was split into two parts post-production but taken as one film it's close to 5 1/2 hours long. It still doesn't feel excessive though - the film follows 3 generations of a family's rise to power from colonial India right through to the 21st century and it's actually very tight in it's storytelling. Pretty much every scene is about progressing the plot rather than building the characters, but you still end with well developed characters since you're following them through so many plot threads. Like some other more serious Indian films I've watched it hasn't quite thrown off the Bollywood influence and there a lot of times when the film takes an excuse to have a long dialogue-free period where they can just blare some music at the audience for a bit, but since GoW is so full on otherwise this gives you a bit of a breather. The soundtrack is pretty much entirely Indian pop music which seems a bit odd for such as serious film but it's executed pretty well. The only complaint I have is that the ending feels abrupt. While the particular revenge plot that the film is centred around gets resolved at the end, the general gang conflicts and the cycle of revenge don't, and you're left feeling that the film could easily have gone for another generation if the makers had wanted it to. After 5 hours though you're probably not going to mind too much.
yeah that's one movie def on my list of movies to watch.. can't wait for that 1 [editline]17th August 2015[/editline]
Like some other more serious Indian films I've watched it hasn't quite thrown off the Bollywood influence
There are a LOT of srsly good Indian movies, but the "bollywood" nonsense has really put a shitty cloud over their actual good collection. e.g. a good recent one is "The Lunchbox", tbh a shame it didn't get chosen for academy award by the country.
