Mockingjay 4: hunger games part 2. 7/10. I enjoyed the series for the most part (if you have a wife or Gf, your kinda forced to like these). For the young adult book-to-movie craze these movies are above most of those dumb movies.
My gf thinks these movies are garbage but judging by ur avatar I see u have a goatee and are into vid games so I assume u don't rly talk to women so mayb u think they don't know about movies cos yea sexism. I also like how ur bracket had no actual relevance to the rest of ur statement like u just wanted to say "lol dumb women like Hollywood schlock what a good man I am for putting up with it"
lets not go too far i have a beard and love video games too
ill be honest one of the main reasons i dont like the hunger games series is because i dont like the character of katniss and i honestly dont really like jennifer lawrence, the only thing i've liked her in was silver linings playbook

And the movies are surprisingly bland and are 95% CGI.
They're worse than the Hobbit films, imo
That's a bit of a stretch.
At least with the Hobbit films I felt like I gave half of a shit about the lore and the world. The book was fun and I read snippets of the short stories that Jackson took inspiration from, and I liked those as little one offs.
The Hunger Games as a series are bland, repetitive and uninteresting, and they play out like any other ~young adult novel series~.
~WoOoOO! Teenagers in a tough situation! Only shoehorned love stories and ineptitude of adults will save the daaaAaAaay~
I hate to be one of those people, but the hype around The Hunger Games kind of ruined it for me. Seemingly everybody I knew was excited for the movie and they had read the books and all that and I hadn't and the movie looked decidedly average to me. So a group of friends saw it without me. Most of them said it was good, but one friend (who has very similar taste compared to me) said it was just okay. Never felt compelled to see any of them since.
But anyway
The Man from UNCLE
3.5/5
I enjoyed it, but it was pretty average. Some good ideas, gags and performances, but the plot felt kind of lacking in a weird way. The editing also felt out of whack at times, though I did like the split frames. Also I've heard people complaining about the lack of setpieces and I thought it had plenty? Anyway, if you were curious about seeing it, it's okay. Not the best Guy Ritchie movie, but it's far from his worst.

this, i keep getting told to watch them and i have no actual interest in doing so.
The Rocketeer - 8/10
This was really fun! Some good ol'-fashioned adventure movie magic.
I've noticed that I tend to really enjoy what I call "genuine" or "earnest" movies - they may be a little cheesy at times, but there's not an ounce of irony or cynicism in them. And The Rocketeer is a great little movie.
Holy Motors - tbh I feel like Carax focused on style in order to get funding for future films which makes sense considering he was working heavily to get an English film made beforehand. Each small part though, stands pretty well on its own, although the entire film imo lacks a lot of real substance tying it together. I personally think each part would've worked better as a separate short film. Lavant gave an amazing varied performance though.
The Other Guys - 7/10
Kind of middling overall, but there are a good number of bits that are just outrageously hilarious. Pretty fun, even if the characters' shtick starts to wear out their welcome during the runtime.
catching fire is legit good imo
all the rest are not
Mulholland Drive - 10/10
This is my fourth viewing of this masterpiece, and I love it more deeply each and every time. Mulholland Drive is basically the film that got me into cinema in the first place and I don't ever see it being anything less than perfect in my eyes. Masterful in every single way.

Yeah pretty much. Anything else?
lets not go too far i have a beard and love video games too
Me too I just think goatees make u look like a nerd
saw spectre, overall impression was a resounding "meh"
I thought the whole "bond is a rapist" thing was just sjw boogeymen overreacting but it actually was pretty creepy in the film. I saw casino royale recently and didn't get those vibes, what the hell was the director thinking?
I probably should have rewatched the rest of craig's bond films because I couldn't really care about the overarching SPECTRE plot. [sp]okay, all these guys are connected by an overarching evil organization (whose motivations I never really found out. just get more power? idk) with a super-cliche logo. it felt pretty hammy and supervillainy which would have fit in older bond stuff but not really the grittier daniel craig films. then of course christoph waltz gets a funny scar (just like mads from casino royale) and returns in a hammy supervillain way. felt like it would have fit better in Kingsman or something. and why did stopping the surveillance program matter that much? I don't see why it's such a bad thing to let it run for a few hours and then get shut down after spectre manipulation is discovered anyway.[/sp]
where did they blow their budget as well? it's the 9th costliest film ever made but I didn't really feel it
the only section I really enjoyed was the opening with dia de muertos, with the parade and the drums creating a cool atmosphere. also the opening song which thought was complete shit beforehand actually fit in pretty well.
5/10 bond is feeling really tired now
Southpaw 6/10
a painfully by the book story, which saves itself with some great performances and technical competence. Some characters are extremely under-developed, especially the 'bad guy' latino dude, who's basically just there to say fuck you and piss off the the main character. Not that bad, just really avoidable.
as per usual jake gylenhall is good as fuck in that movie, its saving grace

Hey my friend was in that movie as an extra. I only watched it for that scene and then returned it to family video.

nothing could save literally the most basic movie ever created. i still get flashbacks of sitting in a sweaty theater with loud fat people behind me eating up fity cent and his totally suave acting skills
from literally the first five minutes you knew itd be bad and you didnt think it could get any worse but it sure did. it is actually a straight 0/10
Sometimes you need to watch a bad movie to remind yourself just how BAD movies can get
daily reminder that south paw is a cinematic abomination

i liked the movie but jesus i thought i was the only one who shared the theater with a bunch of shits
as someone who has never seen it, is it one of those so bad it's good to get drunk with friends and laugh at films or is it write a will and buy a 12 gauge bad?
when we walked it was so bad we were almost speechless, everyone should just know it's pile of shit and never speak of it again
i feel like it's my duty to warn people to not watch it
[editline]d[/editline]
i'm just butthurt about spending an absurd amount of money on something so worthless

no its insufferably boring
I'd just skip to the boxing matches and try to ignore all context
unless you're not into boxing then just don't watch any of it

Rarely are sport movies about the actual sport. If you can't watch it for the context stuff, then why bother watching it at all?
Rarely are sport movies about the actual sport. If you can't watch it for the context stuff, then why bother watching it at all?
because when the parts with the actual sports are good, then good's good, man.

Except it's fake and predetermined?
The only time sports are worth watching for the sport is when it's a real life game, not a dramatized, predestined victory or defeat where each hit and strike was practiced and choreographed.

I can respect that, but even so, I still find enjoyment out of it.
