Krampus It was...a thing. Not really that great in plot or acting but it was solid for what it wanted to do. The first 15 minutes really bring out everything one could possibly hate about Christmas all in one sitting. Kind of followed the standard procedure for a horror movie: Bull-headed gun-ho guy, the smart 'I don't know what's happening but this is the plan' guy, the child who knows the answer to it all and you know has plot armor, the elderly character that knows the lore and reveals it to everyone halfway through the ordeal with much of everyone in disbelief. I'd give it a good 6 or 7 out of 10. I did appreciate the lack of "jump at you" horror, there's almost none of that and the moments it does you really see it coming and can prepare.
Krampus - Probably a 5/10 Outside of the funny opening scene with black friday, there wasn't really anything noteworthy about this movie. It didn't get scary because it's more of a comedy than horror, but I felt like more of the jokes fell flat than not. The pacing was also really bad. It starts out alright, but after all the characters are introduced and Christmas Eve starts, it drags so badly. Even at 90 minutes, the movie felt overly long because nothing happens for like 20 minutes after [sp]the dad and uncle search for the sister the first time.[/sp] It doesn't add suspense because of its comedic tone, so it just gets boring quick. Once the monsters come into play, it gets a lot more interesting, but it doesn't slow down at that point until the end of the movie, which may be a plus or minus depending on how much you can deal with loud screaming and strobe light effects. I know a lot of people apparently hated the ending, but I kind of like it, whatever. One thing that definitely deserves praise though is definitely the monster design. Not necessarily the Krampus itself, but the smaller things that attacked the family in the house really reminded me of (monster spoilers) [sp]Five Nights at Freddy's monsters, just higher quality and made prosthetically.[/sp] That and the elves were hilarious. They were the best aspect of the movie.
The Informant! 6.5/10 Enjoyable enough, with a fun style and some excellent comedic performances. It kind of drags in the later half, though, and a lot of the time feels kind of aimless.
if you wanna watch a good Soderbergh comedy watch Schizopolis
Raiders of the Lost Ark Just showed this to my girlfriend, her first time seeing it. Been a little while since I've seen it last. Honestly it's just so goddamn masterful and iconic it's beyond words. John Williams is just a literal genius, basically setting the gold standard for soundtracks and themes for decades to come. Harrison Ford is incredible, the directing and set design is incredible, everything is goddamn incredible. I could easily go on for hours talking about the nitty gritty details of it but we all the movie is incredible. 10 out of goddamn 10, forever
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Absolutely amazing. Great performances and really had amazing shots, flow, audio, etc. Gilliam really is a great director.
Last Shift 3/10 So I heard people saying this movie was worth a watch and actually scary. It wasn't. It's the usual spooky-house jumpscare nonsense. The whole movie is literally cliche after cliche: noises, door slamming, appearances that vanish when you turn around, lights going weird and some backstory that attempts to piece it all together without doing a good job of it. The reason why I didn't give it 1 is because it's shot quite well, and the acting is solid. It's technically competent, but lacks in literally every other quality. to top it all off: it's not scary, nor creepy or anything of the sort. Even the jumpscares I could see coming from a mile away.
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones It actually made me burst into laughters at some dialogues, 10/10
Snatch. 9/10 Hilarious, dark humor everywhere. Fantastic soundtrack with characters that you love to hate, not a single one is a redeemable person. Fun little shot gimmicks from time to time, and a simple-but-great storyline to boot. Highly recommend
Kill List 8/10 A really effective film, perhaps a little slow moving around the start but for a good reason. Loved the dreamlike atmosphere. Nightcrawler 8.5/10 Loved this one too, great performances and some good social commentary. Reminded me of something Palahniuk would write. John Carpenter's Vampires 7/10 A fun movie, and I can never get enough of James Woods. I felt it dragged a little in the middle, but I enjoyed the climax a lot. Terrorvision stupid/10 Glorious trash, goes well with beer and friends.
'We're the Millers' 1/10 - 'Meet the Fockers' rip-off.

Literally in my top 3 movies of all time.
'We're the Millers' 1/10 - 'Meet the Fockers' rip-off.
Did you even see Meet the Fockers? The only similarity is the RV
Mr. Holmes 7/10 [t]http://davidminortheater.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/QLyq84d.jpg[/t] Quite special for a a Sherlock Holmes movie and most folks I talked to didn't like that, they expected combination and the Sherlock Holmes thing all of the time but I think it's a refreshing entry to the catalogue of adaptions of a literary figure I love an if one HAD to come up with a really really old Sherlock Holmes THIS would be the almost only way to do it. Go watch it, even if just to watch Ian McKellen in one of the best acting jobs he's ever done in movies.
Did you even see Meet the Fockers? The only similarity is the RV
The titles of them sound similar - "Meet the Fockers" and "We're the Millers". Yes, there's the RV. There's also the fact they're both based on messed up "families".
i only recently came to think about it, but is it a real trend for studios to throw out "dysfunctional family holiday comedies" every year, or is it just me?
i only recently came to think about it, but is it a real trend for studios to throw out "dysfunctional family holiday comedies" every year, or is it just me?
It seems to be. I have to admit though, some of them are quite good.
i only recently came to think about it, but is it a real trend for studios to throw out "dysfunctional family holiday comedies" every year, or is it just me?
it has been for a very long time
watched Dude Where's My Car? sober never again it's like a time machine that takes you back to show you how dumb you were when you were 12
Kingsman: The Secret Service Violence, awesome music and Samuel L Jackson. What ells could you want in a film? This movie is definitely more my style than the new Bond films. If you've been itching for a less serious spy flick give this a watch.
Krampus - Probably a 5/10
My friend asked me how the movie was, and I gave him this response to it: "Is it a good movie? Not really. Did I enjoy watching it? Yeah, pretty much. Will I ever watch it again? Unlikely"
It's not a particularly bad movie. It's just really not good at all.
It's hyped to fuck is the problem
the general concensus seems to be that the creatures and horror aspect of it are pretty good but the comedy and story arent
the general concensus seems to be that the creatures and horror aspect of it are pretty good but the comedy and story arent
I got the feeling they injected comedy into the movie in an attempt to make the premise of the whole movie less unbearable and stumbled hard on doing so. Most of the jokes, especially in the later part of the film you kind of just chuckle and wonder "I was suppose to laugh at that...right? right?" [editline]6th December 2015[/editline] The design for Krampus himself, his sleigh and...whatever he used for reindeer though were amazing
Creed 5/5 I'm gonna make a confession: I've never seen a Rocky movie, apart from most of IV. I knew the important things though. You don't need an extensive knowledge of the series to enjoy it. It's a bit predictable, and it has a similar structure to the first movie (from everything I know about it). That being said, it was a great movie. Michael B Jordan was great, Stallone was great ([sp]his bit talking about how he doesn't want chemo was heartbreaking[/sp]), and the fight were brutal. I think Raging Bull had some grimmer bouts, but I will admit there were moments that made me wince. And when they [sp]played the Rocky Theme during the Conlan fight[/sp], that was so kickass. Go see Creed. You won't regret it
watched Dude Where's My Car? sober never again it's like a time machine that takes you back to show you how dumb you were when you were 12
I watched it with a couple of friends from work and i forgot how bad some of it was. That being said, it is kind of fun to watch with friends.
rly want to see creed.. but need to see rocky 3 and 6 to prepare
rly want to see creed.. but need to see rocky 3 and 6 to prepare
Why Rocky 3? Rocky 4 and 6 would be better prep. Maybe even just Rocky 1 and 6.
Why Rocky 3? Rocky 4 and 6 would be better prep. Maybe even just Rocky 1 and 6.
i already seen 1 and 4 and don't feel like rewatching them just yet. 3 and 6 are the important ones i never saw
watched Dude Where's My Car? sober never again it's like a time machine that takes you back to show you how dumb you were when you were 12
Generally if you have to watch a movie high or drunk, it's not a very good movie.
