Generally if you have to watch a movie high or drunk, it's not a very good movie.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas says otherwise
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas says otherwise
you should watch that movie after a hit of andrenichrome, fucking gooooood
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas says otherwise
That movie is great sober. I'm talking about a film/tv show/music/anything that have to rely on being inebriated to be entertaining in the first place.
Song of the Sea 9/10 What a goddamn gorgeous movie. The only reason it lost that last point is because you probably can't watch it with your guy friends without feeling emasculated. This movie is serious eye candy. I mean, Look at this shit, goddamn. If you're a sucker for beautiful artwork, you should probably be watching this right now. If you don't really care for pretty pictures, the movie also features a plot swimming with mystical folklore elements and a non-static brother/sister dynamic that was far more adorable and heart-wrenching than my masculinity cares to admit. It's really been a long time since a movie got me so invested in it. Oh, and did I mention how gorgeous it is?
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas says otherwise
i had plenty enough help losing my mind just watching that movie in a dark room with no distractions tbh
Dope 8.5/10 When I first saw that it was 'comedy' I expected really cheesy cheap Ass teen/adult themed comedy. But nope this shit was tight, the delivery is really well done and it manages to be both geeky and still keep it all in layman's so one doesn't need pre-knowledge of the topics to understand it. There's only one thing I can say for this movie, Damn that shit's dope.
evil dead (1981) truly a descent into madness: as the movie went on, the grin of pure enjoyment on my face became bigger and bigger. i can not find a single aspect of this film that failed my expectations, evil dead is the perfect recipe for a campy yet horrifying experience. this is my first time seeing this film, i could talk for hours about how much i enjoyed the gore and the practical effects but i just wanna say that watching evil dead is something that very few movies left me. and i want more of this.
if you liked 1 that much, 2 will blow your mind [editline]9th December 2015[/editline] (worth noting so you don't get confused, the first ~20 minutes are a recap and a retcon. he doesn't go back to the cabin.)
Prisoners - 9/10 even better on the 2nd watch, really outstanding movie. definitely one of my favorites to come out recently
I always liked the first Evil Dead the most. All of em' are basically perfect.
even the remake? :vs:
The remake was fucking great, but obviously not as good as the originals. Probably my favorite horror remake next to The Thing.
Well, when other remakes range from outright terrible (The Hitcher) to OK but inoffensive (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), there isn't much of a comparison. Still, the Evil Dead remake was entertaining in it's own right.
best remake is still the 1978 invasion of the body snatchers
i really enjoyed the evil dead remake, shit was so intense in the cinema
i really enjoyed the evil dead remake, shit was so intense in the cinema
[sp]the guy getting stabbed by the needle makes me cringe super hard every time[/sp]
Prisoners - 9/10 even better on the 2nd watch, really outstanding movie. definitely one of my favorites to come out recently
detective loki is so kickass
Krampus - 7/10 Pretty much what I was expecting, in a good way
the movie is clearly a total joke, but it could have been better. at least the theme is good.
hey i just watched that last night the beverly hills scene still freaks me out/cracks me up [sp]ITS THE SURGEON GENERAL OF BEVERLY HILLS[/SP] holy fuck i just realized that's [sp]bruce campbell[/sp] [editline]d[/editline] also his getup was fucking og in the beginning escape from la had so many great moments with its cgi, like that still of the surfer looking down at destroyed LA when he came outta the sewer. it was so unreal and hilarious at the same time that ill never forget it, i wish i could find a picture of it somewhere. the movie's like escape from NY x1000 cheese factor the first time i watched it i thought it was dissappointing compared to NY but now i just appreciate it for how fun and self aware it is [editline]d[/editline] the part after he lands on the back of the pickup with a motorcycle (lol) where he takes everyone down with a shotty was absolutely legendary. it only lasted for like 8 seconds but it was probably the best stunt in the whole movie [editline]d[/editline] in case you cant tell im a raging nerd for the escape movies. i hope the remake isnt garbage
Just watched Ex Machina, 7/10. The effects were clean and I loved the dynamic between Ava and Caleb. Looks like Oscar Isaac had fun in the role too. Genuinely did not see that ending coming though.
Uncle Nick - 6/10 I've never seen Brian Posehn in a leading role before, so this was fairly shocking. Of course it's hard to see him as such because of his notorious role as side-characters, but I think he did pretty well. The entire film seems to be based off the cathartic thought of "What if you went to Christmas dinner and told everyone to go fuck themselves instead of pretending to love everyone?", in which it worked well, along with some strange-but-fitting oddball history about baseball. I think it took the dark comedy genre and stretched it a little too much though. Too many scenes that dragged themselves out when you already got the point, etc...and a weird dynamic between characters. "Oh, you're fucking insufferable, but in this next scene I'm going to immediately forget all the crimes against humanity that you've done."
in case you cant tell im a raging nerd for the escape movies. i hope the remake isnt garbage
didn't know they were remaking it. was about to say it's unexpected, then thought about it for a second and got disappointed when i realized that nowadays, it really isn't
didn't know they were remaking it. was about to say it's unexpected, then thought about it for a second and got disappointed when i realized that nowadays, it really isn't
it will probably suck
it will probably suck
i have some faith. the guy who made luther is writing it and john carpenter is a producer so hopefully he'll make sure it isn't total crap
Why does it even need a remake? The original is still perfect. If we were to get anything new in the series I rather see [sp]Kurt Russel as Old Snake in the post-apocalyptic world without electricity[/sp] than a likely shitty remake.
it doesn't need one. im still going to watch it though (unless it's offensively bad, which I don't think it will be), especially if they're making the effort to get good people for it and since im just curious as to how it'll turn out from who they've hired it seems like they're at least somewhat passionate about it. i don't see the problem in a remake as long as it doesn't bastardize the original concept [editline]d[/editline] this was a much better idea:
In the early 2000s, John Carpenter, Kurt Russell, and Debra Hill developed a proposed Snake Plissken television series that was ultimately turned down by all the major networks for being "too dark and bleak."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_Plissken
So this time of year I try to catch up on all the big 2015 movies I haven't seen yet Ex Machina - 8/10 This was surprisingly good and subverted a lot of my expectations, had a very cold and sinister tone to it and made Ava as an AI very believable. Raised a lot of questions about technology and surveillance as well as [sp]misogyny.[/sp] The ending was also a very pleasant surprise and really put the whole movie into place, and I could see a rewatch being very different since you know all the twists and turns going in. It Follows - 6/10 This one didn't live up to the hype for me. The premise is amazing and made me freak out when I would see an extra walking around in the background, and the first half had some really solid scares. But then about two-thirds through the movie when they [sp]started hitting the invisible entity with beach chairs[/sp] it all kind of fell apart for me. Not to mention that [sp]dreadful pool scene was basically something out of Scooby-Doo.[/sp] This one could have been much more with a few script revisions, in my opinion.
Not to mention that [sp]dreadful pool scene was basically something out of Scooby-Doo.[/sp]
but that's what was so great about it it's what a bunch of kids would totally do. it's so rare in horrors you see the gang of kids actually 'okay, hang on. let's actually think about this. what can we do?' and actually try some viable solutions. it was fucking great.
The last Hunger Games movie It had some pretty good moments, some pretty boring and dull moments but all in all, I found it to be a pretty entertaining movie. Might be noteworthy to say that I watched all the previous ones on occasions where other people wanted to see them, like my ex-girlfriend and my sister, so I wasn't really that invested into the series. [editline]10th December 2015[/editline] 7/10 [editline]10th December 2015[/editline] Ending was gay as fuck tho
Just watched Forrest Gump for the first time. Aside from the dumb "run forrest, run" stuff that people just love to repeat, it was a really heartwarming and great movie.
i still can't get over how much of a dick jenny was, and forrest just kept taking it
