What I like about Mulholland Drive (or, hell, any open-ended movie like it) is that the viewer is invited into the movie as a participant and it's up to them to decide what it means. The most plausible explanation I've heard behind Mulholland Drive is that [sp]the first two acts of the movie is Diane Selwyn's dream about her jealousy and desire for Camilla Rhodes, and her wish to be a great actress.[/sp] However, the film is such a complete experience from beginning to end that even with that explanation in mind, there are scenes and bits where things are purposefully left ambiguous I'll always have a special spot in my heart for Mulholland Drive, it's the film that got me into cinema and I don't think I'll ever be able to make a list of favorites without including it

Just watched Watership Down after buying it on a whim and going in blind. It was amazing, and the whole "Bright Eyes" (by Art Garfunkel) scene was a nice surprise too, never heard of it before this but man that was magical. Maybe I'm just a sucker for old style animated films but I couldn't be any happier with what I got.

The Way of the Gun - It was pretty cool to see a movie of this style without any "good guys." Gave pretty well done action scenes where it seemed as if everyone was fighting in a realistic manner, but still entertaining.

[B]Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope[/B] - 9/10 Still a fantastic sci-fi adventure. I'm always impressed with how much ground the [I]Star Wars[/I] movies cover in just a couple of hours. If I had to find a flaw, I suppose it could be the occasionally stilted dialogue. That and some little things don't add up when you consider the whole saga as context, but that's not really this movie's fault.

Tried watching Filth, will probably finish it tomorrow but from the first 20 or so minutes it came off as being pretty forced. Will finish it it tomorrow maybe since I really like James McAvoy but honestly it seemed dumb.

Filth is a good movie, basically Scotland in a nutshell.

I liked filth cos it's such a perfect parody of Scotland and Edinburgh which is where I live and its humour is fucking top notch parody, like to me it is one of the funniest movies of the past few years but I think that's mostly because everything is just so real like the whole thing is just what everyone Scottish person talks about Scotland being, a beautifully disgusting yet loveable shithole. All the representations of scummy people are v accurate n it's great seeing James mccavoy goin off in his Scottish accent for 90 minutes. Loads of the dialogue is just spot on. However its story is a bit iffy and tries a few things that it isn't quite able to handle properly. That said I do enjoy his descent even if it can be a bit cheesy at times. It's no Trainspotting but it's a good Scottish movie and James mccavoy is great in it.
