It was like a big, quality fan movie. I liked it overall, except for two things: [sp]the senate planet and the starkiller blowing up effects, they felt like they had no oomph at all, especially with the latter turning into a fucking star, and lightsaber fighting skills of finn and rey. They just picked it up, wtf? [/sp]
to be fair [sp]rey's skywalker force helped her a lot and it's pretty feasable that finn was trained in sword combat given that one stormtrooper had a weird storm sword thing.[/sp]
Waterworld - Was pretty meh. It had a lot of potential with the unique setting, but a lot of the characters were poorly developed and the film made the mistake of having the annoying kid trope, but still acted like we should care about the character. I don't get why [sp]the dryland had like no fucking people. Like if Earth was legitimately flooding anyone would half a brain would head towards high land, but there's only like two spooky skeletons there. Also how the fuck do three jetskis crashing make that big fireball?[/sp]

Oh and like half of the shit felt ripped off from the Road Warrior.
[sp]Finn yes, I could believe that, but Rey? Maybe she was meant to kick the most ass with it[/sp]
what is whatever you tagged for?

Can't quote Rusty on phone for some reason :why:
pretty fuckin angry
the last star wars film I saw in theaters was episode 3 when I was a kid, and never expected any more of them
I fucking love star wars and I have dozens of books from just plain EU novels to encyclopedias, and video games and everything
I've been religiously not following the movie much so as not to spoil it, and just randomly at 3am last night I was taking a short study break for finals and went on /r/buildapcsales to see if maybe some server components I could use were on sale and there were MASSIVE spoilers all over /new/
Fuck you guy. Seriously ruined so much.

It's like you're new to this sort of things. I got TDKR ruined night before the release here on Facepunch, Bond on 4chan and partially new Star Wars somewhere else.
If you don't want spoilers you've gotta be careful, and even better, don't fucking go to the internet.
I've always been aware of Star Wars, saw all the films as a kid and rewatched them this year but I'm not a super fan or anything.
The Force Awakens thrilled the shit out of me from start to finish and for me it was one of the best blockbuster films of all time, definitely one of the best movie-going experiences I've ever had and my fav movie of the year hands down (edit: Fury Road was pretty close). It was really great seeing it in a packed cinema at midnight on release as well, people were cheering when old characters appeared and everyone applauded at the end, it was so much fun being part of that.
I love how Star Wars is kind of consistent in its style too and that makes it stand out a lot from other movies right now, you're not going to get snarky Whedonesque characters or any of that shit. It was just balls out fun throughout, I don't think there could have been a more perfect way of saying 'look it's gonna be good this time we fucking swear'
i'm probably gonna watch the new one pretty soon, but i don't really understand how not even half of the tickets are sold out here

i can almost get a center seat on monday
they had seats for the first showing at 17:30 yesterday, I guess people don't care that much
I got a ticket for Friday for a pretty good center seat, conveniently so I can also skip on school Christmas celebration shit
I'm gonna say something really controversial - when watched back to back, Episode IV right after prequels, cult classic legendary aside it doesn't stand that far from the prequels quality-wise. It might be difficult to take off nostalgia goggles but the things I hated in prequels are visible here. Of course, they can be somehow excused, taking into consideration that it was 70s, but still, there was no such things in ESB or RotJ.
It's just another point against Lucas. I'm not saying A New Hope is bad, oh now. It's just less impressive after time. Especially if you watch The Hidden Fortress in between.
[sp]The thumbs-up lighter thing from BB-8 cracked me up[/sp]
Good movie. A little too much comedy, felt like a homage to the originals more than a stand alone, atleast the plot has been laid.
I won't lie, I'm going to hate the Force awakens' guts if I'll come to the theatre and discover the same grade of cringeworthy humor as the one in all the Marvel movies to date
cringeworthy humor as the one in all the Marvel movies to date
really? if anything i'd say the humor in marvel movies is direct and on point, not distracting terribly from the main plot (except maybe from avengers 2)
Perfect Blue
Other than the twist not quite making 100% sense and a few minor pacing issues, it was a great thriller. A little surreal and a little Lynchian. Not something i would recommend to watch with the family around. Worth watching at least once. Definitely recommended. 9/10. Might be 8/10 on a re-watch.
Tokyo Godfathers
Re-watched it after a few years, great Christmas film. A little cliche, but definitely worth watching. 8.5/10.

[sp]Finn is maybe trained in melee combat along with other forms, but we literally see Rey wreck some people in the first 30 minutes using a swordy type staff weapon. In fact the weapon she carries throughout and she trusts the most is that staff, so it's feasible that she's confident in that style of fighting.[/sp]
MODS!
Once the dust settles this is how history will remember it. The prequel trilogy will stand superior
Just wait until next year when three more movies are announced, and there are so many spinoff show from different writers and directors and they all suck! If you thought marvel had too many movies just wait for Star Wars. The only games will be iOS shovelware and the new movies will be playable via Disney Infinity v3 where you will have to pay $13 a character to enjoy mediocrity. You will not be able to go into a store without being bombarded by the new movies that retcon the old series and try and replace them
Ye have been warned!!!

[sp]I liked the movie but the Rey fight scene also irked me. I get Finn being able to fight because he's been trained like that but he eventually gets rightfully rekt by Ren. Meanwhile after losing for a bit to him, Rey uses the force somehow and becomes super proficient with the saber. You can't tell me that an untrained (in lightsaber use, she might be good with a staff but they're pretty different weapons and her skills would only really have her hold up against lesser fighters) wielder is able to best what I'm going to assume is one of the more powerful and skilled fighters in the galaxy atm (he was trained by Luke for a quite while and then slaughtered every single one of his fellow students, so i'm gonna assume this). It didn't detract too much from my enjoyment but I would've preferred seeing someone help her to beat Ren or whatever else other than her simply touching the force and becoming a pro[/sp]
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
3/5
A lot of fun moments, cool action scenes, good music and good performances. Pacing issues, especially near the end/act 3.
Unfortunately played too safe and we got a remake of A New Hope.

"The Force is strong with her"
Star Wars EP7 spoilers [sp] I thought it seemed pretty obvious Ren is kinda inexperienced ( him losing complete control and smashing up his office, not to mention he's young, meanwhile Rey has been shown to be really talented in melee right away and it's clear she's really strong with the force. It's not that far fetched. Also he just murdered his own dad, that probably didn't help. [/sp]
I watched Krampus a few days ago, it's a really fun movie. I just wish the movie wasn't so slow, really would have benefited from a faster, crazier pace.
how in the fuck
im watching porn when suddenly in the middle SW is spoiled, jezus fucking christ
