Force Awakens - 4/10 might as well watch george lucas and jj abrams jerk each other off for 2 hours
Force Awakens - 4/10 might as well watch george lucas and jj abrams jerk each other off for 2 hours
most of the movie seemed like a big middle finger to george lucas though
i cant get over how bad it was, i honestly dont even know where to begin. literally every other line was self referential and it doesnt let you focus on any protagonist. oh hey, reys pretty cool. oh nope onto another character. its so bad and its depressing people buy this shit
He-man: Masters of the Universe 4/10
i cant get over how bad it was, i honestly dont even know where to begin. literally every other line was self referential and it doesnt let you focus on any protagonist. oh hey, reys pretty cool. oh nope onto another character. its so bad and its depressing people buy this shit
it seems like you went in wanting to hate it im the biggest pessimist on earth and im not even a big fan of star wars in general but the force awakens was good and very fun. if it was just a cash grab, sure, i might feel the same way. but you can tell there was a lot of love and passion as well as creativity behind it. hating on this movie is going too far into your hate cave and missing the point of cinema, which is to entertain. and tfa does a lot of stuff right and has a lot of brains behind it. you can tell a lot of stuff was meticulously thought about, and it was really trying to do the old movies justice. [editline]22nd December 2015[/editline] jj is definitely not a director for hire. he's not in it for just a pay cheque. he doesn't really understand star trek, that's super fair. but he does understand star wars.
thats the thing though, i didnt go into hate it at all. i love star wars. on the surface it seems like a movie that fans would love, but its really not. so much shit wrong with it. also what is the deal with the stormtrooper not acting like a guy who supposedely got taken at birth and being trained as a soldier his entire life, totally not acting like that at all. hot basic garbage. i wasnt entertained at all either sorry, i was falling asleep. at least chewie was still a g and i got some slight hints of emotion when john williams classic soundtrack came on
hot basic garbage.
Well yeah, [sp]Finn was in Sanitation[/sp]
Well yeah, [sp]Finn was in Sanitation[/sp]
hahH star wars reference!!! :D exactly my problem with the movie, its full of itself and didnt try to stand on its own for even a second. i truly think it sucks what hollywood is doing to good movies. i horribly overextended and just trying so hard
I don't even think we watched the same movie dude. Like yeah there were some references, but not nearly enough to truly bog it down. [sp]And besides, do you really expect a trooper who was part of sanitation to truly believe in all that indoctrination? Sometimes people slip through, and for Finn it was the shock of being placed in combat. He cracked, so he ran.[/sp] [editline]21st December 2015[/editline] Like a 4/10 is what I'd give TPM, and TFA is certainly a far cry in writing alone from TPM.
lol yeah thats the thing, theyd go on for about like 2 minutes after every development and be like "haha ur so silly!!" its just so in your face that theres no charm. the one liners were awful. rey was great, shame that every time things got interesting theyd yank her away. if they actually had a focused protagonist things wouldve been a lot better. i should give it a more proper review when im less pissed but that movie gave me just the worst most pompous vibes [editline]21st December 2015[/editline] also yea luke spends like his entire life training to become a jedi, but nope i can learn it in the span of like 20 minutes lol. it just takes away so much and turns it into another run of the mill movie

I sense a disturbance in the force. Rofl_copter has turned to the dark side of shit taste. In seriousness, I like star wars as well, hell I even like the prequels except most of episode 2. But, your calling it a mediocre movie when you aren't seeing the true picture of it. It's both a light hearten and somewhat dark return to Star Wars, as if it was a welcoming party, so much love put into it from a director who was more passionate about SW then ST and you give it a 4/10?!? That is why TFA is fantastic and much better film then the prequels.
what because it shows harrison ford talking about parsecs and the millenium falcon? ugh idk, maybe im being harsh but i cant wait to see the revenant or hateful eight to wash away the shittiness. or maybe ill just watch 4 and 5 right now
what because it shows harrison ford talking about parsecs and the millenium falcon? ugh idk, maybe im being harsh but i cant wait to see the revenant or hateful eight to wash away the shittiness
youre being too harsh. the force awakens is NOT a jurassic world. it has heart and you can tell people worked super hard on the story and fitting it into a well established world without it being stupid, which isn't easy. i agree it's guilty of a little too much fanservice, but that aside it's a very well made ACTION FAMILY film its weird to hate on this movie and have darth maul as your avatar and on a second viewing, most things eclipse the fan service parts. they were necessary for the beginning of this new trilogy and will almost definitely drop off after this movie. [editline]22nd December 2015[/editline] it was a send off/wrap up of the old trilogy as well as a startup of a new one. and it did a great job of that
I saw the new Stare Warts I left the theater feeling like it was on par with the originals, I could probably tear it apart and find something to complain, but I'm too damn satisfied with what I saw.

My friend did a good review of it, kind of summing up why it falls short http://crypticelluloid.tumblr.com/post/135644915005/star-wars-the-force-awakens
The Pentagon Wars 8/10: Really great movie. I'm sure you've all seen the clip by now, but the full movie is just as entertaining. It feels like a recreation of events and I was pleased to learn there are few historical inaccuracies in the movie. Would highly recommend it if you are interested in military projects or know more about fighting vehicles than just "it looks really cool and blows stuff up". Also the actors are really good.
Platoon - Damn, that was a good war film. Amazing how it managed to keep a chaotic terrifying presence at times, but still let the viewer properly follow events during the intensity. Great performances by all the actors and the film kept me engaged the entire time.
again i totally disagree. the old movies felt really good and almost subtle in a way, with the occasional (actually funny) joke now and again but never too in your face. wasn't the star wars i know, where it felt like you were watching a legend unfold. i don't know how to explain it that well but it just did not feel like a star wars movie felt like it had a lotta good things going for it but it just squandered it by overextending itself and trying to play too much on its name
Actually the funny thing about the latest star wars movie is that technically it's not star wars. I mean, usually when a movie mocks some things that have previously been presented in a serious way, we call it a parody, and tfa mocks like every single moment of all previous star wars movies. It takes the piss out of jedis and siths, their lightsabers and lightsaber fights, it mocks stormtroopers, the empire and death star assault, not to mention that whole skywalker family thing that had been going on all over the old episodes. So, technically speaking, the new film is a parody, and it's only difference from some silly things like Spaceballs is the quality of like everything in the movie. That doesn't mean i didn't like tfa. It's a good film with tons of nice, subtle jokes and decent special effects, but i just can't acccept it as an actual development of the old saga.

The thing that separates it from Spaceballs is that Spaceballs is a comedy, whereas TFA is a proper sequel that pays tribute to the classics one heck of a lot mroe than it pokes fun at them.
gonna watch storage wars episode 7 with my nephew 2moro.. it's still selling out even in smaller theatres. [editline]22nd December 2015[/editline] also just saw Hateful Eight get 2 stars on Ebert's site... that site is now totally bust to me now... all the reviewers are absolutely poor.
American Beauty as sad as it was beautiful. for some reason it reminded me of Donnie Darko. I know the stories are completely different, but the location, time period, and [sp]the sequence at the end[/sp] all reminded me a lot of one of my favorite movies 8.5/10, great movie
There's a theater near both where I work and where my brother goes to school that's showing Hateful 8 on film. I'm probably going to see it with him, exciting!

For a movie you haven't even seen yet. Ok then.
