Now I can see what's in my soda can before I drink it! Cool thread, I love these types of things.
:buddy:
good for pc case
Wouldn't it get cloudier the thicker you make it? Still, quite awesome.
Invisible soda cans!
Fuck yes!
It could change the world!
:buddy:
Obviously shop'd :downsrim:
Invisible soda cans!
You are a fucking genius :buddy: Make this NOW! [editline]10:47AM[/editline] Also, invisible cars anyone? [editline]10:47AM[/editline] Invisible computer cases! [editline]10:47AM[/editline] Invisible missiles! [editline]10:47AM[/editline] Invisible bicycles! [editline]10:48AM[/editline] Holy shit!
I think people are forgetting these aren't completely invisible.
The problem with this is though that glass serves a purpose in case of a fire or need to quickly escape by smashing the glass. What would happen if a car goes into a deep lake and the doors have jammed? That and that Glass is probably a hell of a lot cheaper than this.
Alumina is ceramic, not metal.
Way to ruin the fun... :argh:
I have a couple of questions. How much does it cost to make this? How long does it take for this stuff to rust?
Aluminum doesn't technically rust in the sense like iron. The rust is clear to opaque on aluminum. So if that stuff does "rust," all that would happen is that the metal would look cloudy, and you will not be able to see very well out of it.
Whoa that would be cool.
The Awesome Meter would flip around and go right back into Awesome. That's how awesome it would be.
I want some of this. Now
I don't think aluminum rusts, but I could be wrong
Aluminum corrodes, but it creates a thin layer on top which stops it from corroding further, so it practically doesn't.
I've heard of aluminum oxide before but used as bullet proof glass, just can't recall where.
Yay!
Aluminum doesn't technically rust in the sense like iron. The rust is clear to opaque on aluminum. So if that stuff does "rust," all that would happen is that the metal would look cloudy, and you will not be able to see very well out of it.
That means solid colored and that you can't see through it at all... So it ranges from completely clear to completely opaque.. makes perfect sense.
One of the best treads ever.
Yay!
You have the most annoying avatar on FP. :'(
Whoa that would be cool.
Like a bottle of soda, but metal! :downs:
Transparent alumina also occurs in nature (with some impurities)

"Hello computer" i loved that movie. This stuff looks cool, all the things we can do with it
Why would someone flying at Mach 4 hit a goose? Wouldn't they be flying higher than any goose? Also cool article bro, it's a cool material
A good point, if you're flying at Mach 4 down in the altitudes geese fly at, your plane is melting from the friction with the air. Low-level Mach 1 bombers during the Vietnam War had to circulate coolant through their canopy to keep it from melting.
