I've Never Felt Empathy, Remorse, Loss, or Sadness - General

I used to think that I was able to suppress my emotions and act all hardcore and shit and have the whole "fuk da world!!!" attitude Then I lost my GF of four years in 2007... At her funeral, I sat beside her casket and much like the opening to the movie Up I sat there and looked down, hiding my emotions, and holding back my tears. After that, my attitude changed but since then I've kind of gone back to my old self hiding my emotions from my friends and my current gf. Then I lost my best friend of 15 years two weeks ago... At his funeral I tried my hardest to not break down then when his mother requested that I play Tears in heaven by Eric Clapton I agreed to do so. 3 minutes into the song I put my guitar down and sat there looking at his open casket. For 5 minutes I sat there trying to suppress the tears and the emotions. I couldn't. I stared out towards his family and when I saw his mother stare at me with the tears in her eyes I had to let go and I ran over to her and hugged her. You people state that you don't feel emotions or can't have sympathy for anyone or anything and say that you won't feel anything when a loved one dies or a close friend. Let me tell you, I felt the same way but in the end I broke down and let myself be vulnerable for a few minutes. You can sit there and vehemently deny that you will ever feel any sort of feeling or emotion of sorrow, pain, or sadness when it comes to losing someone or something but deep down, you will. Denying yourself the ability to express your emotions and feelings is like denying your humanity. Expressing emotions and feelings is a basic part of being a human and what sets us apart from animals. Sorry for the long post, just need to vent I guess.

Let me give you some examples so i can put this a bit more simply, I dont give 2 shits about the starving kids in Africa, i don't care that a TV salesman, or a midget, or a child molester dies, i could care less about some third world country that got a little shittier because of an earthquake, but, you want to know the darndest thing? You know that episode of futurama where Fry's dog is waiting for him and it died and whatever, it nearly brought me to tears. I get sad when dogs are involved, and i'll never know why. But yeah, that's the story of my life, i cant be sad or feel bad, but when a dog is involved, the tears start flowing. I just thought some people out there would like to know, so there you go. TL;DR- I'm a kind of sociopath, and I don't feel bad about anything except dogs. Rate me heart because I apparently dont have one.[/QUOTE] Nobody cares. :smile:

People who deny that they have emotions are filth in my honest opinion. They need to grow up. Emotions are what makes us human, and if you don't have any emotions you are less than a fucking rock to me, because at least rocks can be useful and don't take up precious resources to just sit on their ass and leech off of society.
