Ive never been good at wishing people luck, but uh, good luck dude.
On a separate note, your first doctor is bat shit stupid. Never go back.
His first doctor wasn't a neurosurgeon. Since it was out of his area of expertise, he recommended a specialist for OP's condition. I don't see how that was stupid.
Best wishes and the best of luck to you. I am very happy that you will be under - I couldn't imagine being conscious. I know there would be no pain - but being able to hear and smell them cutting into your skull would just be bone chilling, also knowing that they were just working on you like that.. Luckily you won't experience this though, so good luck!

The thing is, according to the OP, he didn't even know of a specialist so the OP's wife had to find one herself.
Good luck mate :patriot:
That sound so weird.
It's true but it doesn't really seem like you just "wake up". Last summer I had to get surgery on my ankles, I was on the operating table at one moment, and literally a second later I was in the recovery room with no memory of falling asleep or sleeping in between.
w0lfeh that patriot thing was uncalled for
Same thing happened to my uncle, he underwent the same sort of surgery and came out fine.
Don't worry OP you'll be fine. :unsmith:
I've never been knocked out for surgery, but people say you just wake back up like nothing happened
When I was knocked out for upper and lower jaw surgery I was dizzy and disoriented like I was severely drunk, and then was so tired I had to sleep until like 7pm (the surgery was a 6am and was a few hours long)
I wish you all the luck in the world, and I hope EVERYTHING goes well.
Hope everything goes well and I hope you feel better fast for your family's sake
Man that's an awful thing to have sneak up on. I'd be absolutely livid at the Doctors who gaffed you off to begin with.
Though I'd be happy that they've found it and are going to do something about it.
Godspeed to you good sir.:patriot:

why
godspeed man, see you on the other side. i'll be checking this thread every day to see if you turn out alright.
SYOTOS!
OP, you're gonna be awake during surgery ? I heard they do that since there's no nerve endings in brains or something, so you don't feel it. And that they can constantly check if they aren't negatively affecting the part they're operating on.
And Foszor, good luck and best wishes.
If your speech centres are damaged, does it mean that you just can't understand spoken words, or that you can't understand spoken or written language at all?
Either of those options sound scary as hell, I really hope you come out of there okay :ohdear:
OP, Y U GO AND MAKE ME CRY? That's insane, I'm so sorry to hear that.. I wish you and your family the best of luck. You'll be in my prayers.
I love you man. I hope everything turns out well.

you just had to fucking go there didn't you
Good luck.
Fuck I almost cried, good luck man.
He's not responding anymore, I guess he's in surgery now :ohdear:
Err.... I kinda have a similar thing... Maybe I should make a bawww thread to. :smith:
Anyway, You have my compassion because I happen to kinda know how you feel, OP.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broca's_area
However, slow destruction of the Broca's area by brain tumors can leave speech relatively intact suggesting its functions can shift to nearby areas in the brain.
You should be okay. Good luck
I'll be thinking of you. I really hope you'll make it out of there. Take care.
Well...shit man.
Thank you all so much for your kind words... it really does mean a lot. I'm not just saying that, I was crying reading these responses.
The surgeon visited me about 10 minutes ago... they now decided to keep me awake during the surgery. I guess since so much of it is on my speech center, they want to check each area and see if I can still speak, count and recognize shapes.
This is bittersweet. I know its for the best but I'm still really scared. I wanted to go to sleep and wake up with everything finished.
I haven't eaten since 10pm last night, surgery is scheduled for 6:00pm.
Again, thank you all.

OR he is enjoying the possibly last days of his ability to speak or even worse, possibly his last days alive, with his family and friends.
OP, i hope things go well.
edit: oops, spoke too soon. You have my prayers.
