Lemme tell you, I really don't like most of Magpul's products, but those magazines are absolutely flawless. Light, durable, easy to take apart for maintenance, and real cheap to boot. Glad to hear you were able to sort it out but that's still a weird issue.
Google says that apparently the C39 has a non-standard bolt carrier so I wonder if that could be causing hangups. If that's the case, the gun probably just needs to be broken in and smoothed out, and nothing will smooth friction between the top round in the mag and the bolt carrier quite like live fire.
I think you ought to test with your working mag and see if the gun handles fine before you go and buy a bunch of stuff. If it does have serious problems that aren't the magazine, it'd be good to know as soon as possible so you can either deal with Century or get a refund. After my experience with buying a Century AK I highly advise being 100% sure of your purchase ASAP.
Magpul mags are terrific but that didn't stop me from gutting mine and putting their followers into USGI mag shells because I like the look.
I already had some magpul mags and USGI mags
Gotta love them USGI mags. They work most of the time, but they don't like dirt very much. I remember having trouble just seating the magazine in the weapon during the night course, and when I tried to shoot, I must have had 3 out of my 5 rounds misfire. SPORTS didn't do shit.
Then again, I was shooting blanks. Blanks suck.
I have one marked "restricted law enforcement/government use only" :v:
Stickin' it to the man.

Is it surplus? It was probably made when the assault weapons ban was still in place.
Yes, it is. I got two for $15, one marked, one not. The followers were USGI anti tilt and they didn't really work but I liked the shells so I put in the ones from the magpul mags that came with my AR.
Anyone here shoot black powder, specifically flintlocks?

I'm scared that if I bought a .308 gun like a PTR, I would be poor very quick.
Is reloading hard? I hear horror stories of people guns exploding due to bad loads.
Guns explode from reloads where the reloader was not paying attention. When reloading, you make sure every case has the same amount and type of powder. Other things that cause ka-booms are the shooters not checking and removing a bullet stuck in the barrel from a squib.
You just pick a load you want from one of the many books on reloading, get parts and equipment, and reload. Start with the lowest powder charge and only make 5-10 rounds of that load to test. Check each case after firing to check for signs of over pressure like flattened out primers and bulging cases.
Once you are confident with your load being both safe and accurate in your gun, throw that lever like there's no tomorrow.
In the case of a PTR 91 style rifle, kiss reloading goodbye. It mangles the brass and that's if you can find it after the gun flings it 20ft. An AR10 or M1a would be better semi auto choices for .308 rounds.
Or there are always the dependable bolt actions and single shot rifles.
There is a buffer you can buy to alleviate the brass destruction. But you need to make sure that your rifle doesn't have a rail. I made the mistake of not checking and now I have a useless piece of plastic.
Is it weird that I'm a better shot with iron sights(specifically aperture)? I had a hell of a time with the cheapo stock prismatic scope that SIG gives out with one of its M400 AR variants, missing all the time despite constantly sighting it in. Earlier, I stuck some cheapish flip-up A2 style ones on, gave it a general sight-in, and I was hitting reliably in the center of a 2 inch steel .22LR(yes dangerous i know) spinner target at 50m.
Been a few days now and the guy trying to sell a 15 round Hi-Point carbine magazine as a 30 round Hi-Point C9 mag hasn't replied yet... Maybe me and the other guys shouldn't have made fun of him on the Facebook post.
I bought the Primary Arms GEN3 red dot optic a few months ago, and made the mistake of thinking I wouldn't want the spacer mount to raise it up.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a cheap/decent mounts to raise up the optic a bit?

She also made consistent 15mm 5-round groups with .22LR and .223 Rem (CZ452 and 527).
Told me she wanted to come along next time too, maybe I recruited someone new to the hobby. How many have you introduced to shooting this year? ;)

That's awesome! I brought 3 friends of mine from baseball/school at FSU to the range, and actually got 2 of them to get a temporary license to come hunt with me for turkey and duck this year.
Now they both have their hunter safety course completed and are asking when I'm going again. One of them already went out and bought his own 870 for ducks.
[sp]Now they can start buying their own ammo for the range. :D[/sp]

You can buy just the spacers from PA...

That's what I intended. But I was looking for a bit deeper feedback, like which ones do people use and like?

I've brought at least two people to the range last year, but can't say it stuck with em...
I love taking people to the range. I usually take my brothers when they visit or sometimes my wife's in-laws. It's a blast.
On a random note, what do you all think about ultrasonic cleaners for firearms? I've read quite a bit about it and it looks interesting.
My new AK, after I sold my last one. I think I'll keep this one.

^ absolutely love that wood color and grain, what'd you pay for that bad boy? However I'd prefer a non-blued ejection port and a wood grip, but it's still rad as fuck
I know this is going to sound retarded. But what are your guys opinion on hand-tightening a barrel nut for an AR? I got a rail system that needs a special $100 tool to tight the barrel nut down with a wrench so I was wondering if I could get away with just tightening it as much as possible by hand or other tool.
I saw via Google that plenty of people hand tighten barrel nuts so I figured I'd get the opinion of FP.

Pretty sure you could do it by hand if you bought yourself a cheap torque gauge. I don't know about in the US, but here in Australia I can buy a cheap one for $18 at the car parts shop.
Well, the KAC nut is kind of made purposely difficult to put in without the wrench.

I can do it by hand than use pliers to tighten it down as tight as it will go. I just wonder if doing that and only that is enough to not kill me or anything.

Very pretty rifle!
Thanks! I didn't even have to convince my wife to let me get it, she actually wanted me to. I walked by it, and she said "Your birthday is in four months, you want that?" and pointed to it.
It was a bit of a tossup between this and one of those Century Arms HK91 clone type rifles. The ones they had were used and a little rusty, so I decided on the new gun that was half as much.
