The C96 in the picture belongs to the woodworker who made the stock, I have a full size broomhandle.

I'm picking up the stock this weekend. The one in the picture is for a Hi-power but the guy gave it to me with the pistol, the wood dude used it as a template.
I'm going to Richmond tomorrow to give that ponce McAuliffe a piece of my mind.

You laugh at the british police weapons sweep, but think about how I nearly got cuffed for holding a sapling.
[editline]24th July 2015[/editline]
A dead sapling.
So, in UK land they arrest you for holding something that you could hit someone with, and in prison they beat you with nightsticks and throw you in the hole for holding something that you could hit someone with.
UK=almost as bad as prison?

I do want to hear this story, even the TLDR version

McAuliffe's not awful. And he's certainly better than Cuccinelli and our convicted crook ex-Governor McDonnel. Warner, on the other hand, needs to get out of Senate.

Yea, the whole lot's a mess. Warner's a fucking dork, but so's McAuliffe.
I think I'm going to buy a Kel-Tec KSG.
I have the money and there are some local gun stores that have them, I figure I'll save a bit more cash this month and than I can go for it.
Assuming my pistol permit takes another several weeks (which it probably will) otherwise I'm going to buy a new handgun or two and accessories, ammo a redneck shopping spree basically.
I went to the range recently to test some cast lead bullets in my Glock 34, and a relatively new shooter tagged along. He did some fantastic reloads:

Doesn't Glock explicitly state in the manual not to use cast lead bullets?
This is America. We explicitly say 'fuck you' to manuals and do it anyway, and then sue when shit goes awry.
[editline]25th July 2015[/editline]
Also, wait; completely unrelated to the thread: but when did I become a gold member?!
They re-activated gold... becoming. Becoming gold. I forget the threshold but obviously you met it
Doesn't Glock explicitly state in the manual not to use cast lead bullets?
Pretty much everyone here in Australia uses cast bullets when shooting handgun. Despite that I've never seen damage done to a Glock because of it.
Doesn't Glock explicitly state in the manual not to use cast lead bullets?
Glock tells the customers not to use lead bullets due to "excessive leading" I believe. The idea is that lead will build up and constrict the bore, which could lead to a catastrophic failure if a jacketed bullet is fired without cleaning first. I took the gun apart like 20 times to inspect for leading or other problems since I was firing some jacketed bullets as well. After firing about 400 rounds (with 250-300 being cast lead) the barrel was indeed leaded, but not excessively.
For some reason, the cast lead bullets were horribly imprecise. One of my other videos from that day shows me messing several shots at short range. It was like shooting a shotgun, one pellet at the time...
I think I've read that lead bullets are inaccurate in modern rifling.
Lead should never be fired from polygonal rifling. It easily be comes leaded and can ruin the barrel. Even HK says to never use lead in their hand guns because of the polygonal rifling. Lead bullets are good for traditional rifling that you get from a Lone Wolf after market barrel or other gun manufacturer's like XD and M&P.

Show me a real world example of it causing trouble.

Why is he cocking the gun back? Just use the slide release for god sake.
He gets a gold star for trying to reload.
So my old man and I are thinking about getting a new rifle for the house. I was thinking about an Ares SCR or Mini-14.
Any opinions on either?

He has limited experience with guns, and did what felt good. I often find myself doing the same, even though the slide release is a better and quicker way to do it.
Also, we are not practicing combat techniques ;)

Did you not see the bottom of the post? It said it wasn't his in the picture. But my question was answered and he does own one..

The Mini-14 is the evilest, most women-hating gun in all of Canada, and the most baby-killingest in all of Europe. Get that one.

It does have the name of Bobby Killah 5000 in California. Still though, I do like the ARES SCR for it's piston system. It just seems so right for some reason. Not to mention 7.62x39mm.

To give an honest opinion, I hear the Mini-14 leaves much to be desired for accuracy. I hear it's basically impossible to get groups tighter than an inch and a half at 100 yards.
I want a Mini-14 just to have one but I can never find any with the wood stock and metal heat shield around here. Plus the proprietary magazine puts me off.
Get a 580-series Mini 14 and change the gas bushing. The Mini is overgassed, and will usually achieve better accuracy with lower gas pressure.
When it comes to accuracy, the average Mini will not be able to compete with bolt rifles or high quality ARs, but it's good enough for hunting and plinking.
Also, the Mini 14 is a very fun rifle to shoot :)
That fucking big eared bastard Tony Abbott has suspended import of the new Adler 110 lever-action shotgun for 6 months because of the "terrorism risk". I don't even know if he has that legal power.

Oh, and would you look at that, it seems the SSAA have banned me from their Facebook page for telling them to grow a spine regarding semi-autos in their newly released official policies.
