word photoshop is the worst thing to ever happen to ad aesthetics, I think [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] also lmao that Witness poster looks like a promo pic for a bad unreal engine 2 cyberpunk mod
I painted in the trades and stuff on my new Glock. I like it.
:(
Who exactly was in the newspaper ad market for an Ultimax 100? Besides Ubisoft and their crazy obsession with it.
What's special about the 12ga? [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] @prusse
Who exactly was in the newspaper ad market for an Ultimax 100? Besides Ubisoft and their crazy obsession with it.
There are a number of magazines focussed on defence equipment. They're intended for governments and military procurement departments. [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] Probably for police forces as well.
I don't have the patience to collect ammunition - I'd end up shooting it. Every time I've bought a neat bullet I wound up buying a gun to shoot it with. It happened with my .303 and 7.63x25. :v:
:(
It sucks. I know for a fact if I hop the border to PA they'll sell me standard capacity but it doesn't really make much sense because if I were to carry the gun around with one of them in it and I got involved in a traffic stop or god forbid a real self defensive shooting I'd probably lose my pistol license. So I just carry a couple spare mags and if I go to a really bad part of town I'll carry a New York reload and have my Bodyguard in a ankle holster I can grab if I run dry. But you know, that's assuming I ever need too, which if probability has anything to say about it, I luckily never will. Oh, also are we showing off ammunition collections? I inherited my Grandfathers and I've been meaning to go through and research every round in it but haven't gotten around to it. [t]https://i.gyazo.com/620e77650ab220ad44f1c91503b6a41c.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.gyazo.com/d5fe14b15b19a16210354bb341885c0e.jpg[/t] I recognize some stuff. Like the Wendy clear-plastic shotgun shell down there. Other things are mysteries to me.
I really dont understand why nuggets are so despised now, aside from "HAH STOOPID OLD 4CHAN MEME LEL". I guess i am the guy that bought 2 cosmoline packed nuggets from cabelas and was happy with the purchase. Cosmoline is piss easy to clean out with acetone and a heat gun. It takes 30 mins, tops. Both nuggets are $100 91/30s, one is a 1927 hex reciever that shoots 2 1/2" groups at 200 yards with a brass stacker and 50$ aim scope. Sure, thats nothing super impressive, and the trigger is pretty heavy, and the bolt pull is slightly sticky, and i have to clean it every time i take it out, but its under 200 fucking dollars for something that shoots reasonably accurate 7.62 with stopping power comparable to 30.06 at around 20 cents a shot. I dont see how thats a bad purchase at all.
Why the hate on Mosins? Mine works pretty good. The bolt is good, accuracy is decent, non corrosive ammo is easy to find, and the trigger isn't super bad. For the price you can't get much better, accounting for things such as ammo.
I wish I had an updated photo of my collection but everything's packed down in a box after I photographed every single round. Now the photo gallery is outdated again :^( Neat stuff, are those calibres marked on the rounds, or something else? Some of my rounds are marked with 4-digit SAA numbers which are reference numbers for a book with case dimensions [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] @codemonkey
I haven't looked into it. A lot of cases are marked directly with their calibre and what not but some have the digit code. I got a couple of books and catalogs with it and he had a whole box of index card with every single round on it and the specifics about them.
When I get home I'll take some pictures and see if there is anything really interesting in there. I think there are some 30-06 tracers, pin fire bullets, paper cartridges and some other cool stuff. He used to have a huge Winchester rifle collection too. I got the Winchester M1 Carbine from it. He gave it to me before he passed. It makes me want a modern reproduction though to keep in the house for pests and stuff, but I value it too much to leave it outside the safe.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/91uozvz.jpg[/t]
I do wish they could import some of those Norincos here in the states. If I recall there is still a ban.
I do wish they could import some of those Norincos here in the states. If I recall there is still a ban.
If Norinco was allowed back, the US gun market would be destroyed. They can make equally good products and sell for a half the price of the competition. Currently they are limited to only shotguns, and those are probably on limited import restrictions.
My '24 Remington Model 10 absolutely will not feed any brand low brass shotgun shells, even vintage, but it's fine with high brass. Is there a reason for this?
Did you try slowly cycling the action and watching as it loaded the shells into the chamber?
I went ahead and bought me a gun. I decided against the mosin, but wanted something bolt-action/single shot, with power, low recoil, and versatility. I got really lucky and my gun shop had a used but damn near mint condition Ruger 77/357 for $680. I started to regret it as I left the store, but a short trip to the range changed my mind. This thing is FUN, it hits hard, uses relatively cheap ammo(in the form of .38 from PPU on SGAmmo), and can be used on everything from varmints, deer, and potentially things bigger than that. The recoil is on par with my 5.56 AR. It was expensive, over 3x my intended budget, but it's not a problem, considering that it's versatile as hell. [editline]no[/editline] If I were stupid enough, I'd ream the chamber out to accept .357 Maximum and use it for elk. But the brass shortage is enough to say no to that. [editline]yes[/editline] Apparently that would be a waste of time, considering that in a long, 18.5" barrel, .357 gets velocity gains up to and over 2,000 fps in some loadings and weights. Some loads surpass .30-30 in energy.
Did you try slowly cycling the action and watching as it loaded the shells into the chamber?
Yeah, the low brass shells almost always snag on the bottom of the mouth of the chamber. The high brass shells don't ever seem to have any trouble. It's bizarre - I'd record a video but I don't have any high brass shells right now to demonstrate.
Feel confident enough to polish or lightly file the edge of the chamber?
If Norinco was allowed back, the US gun market would be destroyed. They can make equally good products and sell for a half the price of the competition. Currently they are limited to only shotguns, and those are probably on limited import restrictions.
i hope that some high up arms distributor/importer/whatever can take advantage of both the current rise in pro-gun legislation and the bright future we have and talk with norinco on terms like this. Import AKs, SKSs, SVDs, combloc handguns like the Makarov and CZ-75, and never touch the AR or bolt action market, ever. Also, you can't sell any American-design Chinese/foreign-made clones except for 1911s and M14/M1A clones and derivatives because fuck Springfield until their ass bleeds all over their shitty cast receiver rifles they ask 2k for. If a smart person can get into the higher levels of the gun industry, we can re-establish our constitutional rights and not fuck up our industry or foreign relations. I'd advocate the nullification of bans and sanctions in the importation of Russian and Chinese guns, but only on the conditions that the Russians and Chinese stick to making their own designs and not fuck with our AR market (which is the largest chunk of the gun industry and market here). The AK/commie gun market would be owned by Russia and Ukraine, China, Serbia, and possible Valmet if they want in. I'd want Daewoo back in entirely though. They can modernize the K2 and make bank there with the STANAG-compatible market, and I can imagine that they could make some pretty damn fine ARs. Also I want the USAS back in because it's the only good thing Atchisson has ever done. Good 'ole USA can make whatever though. We should stick to ARs and our other US-designed/sponsored systems, because even without an influx of 100% import actual not shit Russo/Sino commie shit, we couldn't make a good AK to save our life. I.O would be shit out of luck, and everyone would rejoice (and they'd reformat themselves into an importation company to let in the foreign guns while maintaining their worker's job security). Also, IWI can come back, and I want some of that VHS-2 goodness so I can feel like I'm in GiTS. Chartered Industries of Singapore needs to come back full force too, the newer Ultimax models, the SAR-21, and SAR-80 and variants are all really good and fit niches that American manufacturers wouldn't really touch. However, we'd always have the home field advantage because muh nationalism and muh 100% MURRICA made AR-15 will be popular with Americans. [sp]not mentioned: obviously switzerland, germany, belgium, south africa, poland, sweden, czech republic, and pakistan can come too, because belgium and germany would be constantly trying to one-up each other, pakistan would make cheap HK-quality HK guns and BTFO germany, belgium would also BTFO germany with innovation and HKfags can have all their overprices shit to themselves. sweden can come because muh gustav and bofors, south africa because of the fookin' prawns, and switzerland because they make the best, if priciest, guns on the planet. czech republic because they are the slavic belgium, and poland because they're the slavic sweden.[/sp]
Feel confident enough to polish or lightly file the edge of the chamber?
It's missing by too much to file, about a quarter of a centimeter.
Is it a slight timing issue with the shell elevator?
The flapper is working perfectly fine as far as I can tell. It works every time with high brass shells, even empties. The only thing I can think of is that since this is a riot/trench gun at heart it may have been designed specifically for high brass, but I can't imagine how it'd make this big of a difference. [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] Tomorrow I'll try to take a video of what it's doing. I have a spent high brass shell I can demonstrate with.
Here are a couple of examples I picked at random. An assortment of pin-fire shells and a pin-fire shotgun shell. Life with a rifle in .300 Savage feels like every box is a cartridge collection.

Yeah, those are Winchester but it does it with Federal and even my old Western cardboard shells. The reason it happened in the video seems to be that the rim missed the extractor when I just dropped it in. It'll do the same with high brass if I load them that way. My only guess is that for some reason the extractor almost always misses the rims on low brass shells.
the only glocks worthy of trade filling are 10mm turboglocks. why do gun ads today have to look so stupid? look at how good (or at least, informative) they were back in the 80's and 90's.
dude, holy fuck, congrats. i really want one of those, nice find! be sure to post some pictures, they're awesome
I'll be sure to do so next time I take it out. I really like it, best purchase yet. Oddly, my AR kicks more sharply than it does, it just feels like a soft push to me. It's not unlike shooting a .22lr. I definitely get that vibe from hearing the sound of the supersonic bullet flying through the air after the relatively quiet bang. I guarantee that next year(or the year after, damn waiting period), i'm getting the barrel threaded and will put a suppressor on it. Thing is, subsonic .38 loads become supersonic in such a long barrel, so i'll need to reload my own and underload them quite a lot to keep it under 1050ft/s. I'm likely going to take it out in either 3-4 days, or next weekend. I have a lot of friends who are interested in it, as a bolt-action .357 magnum is pretty much unheard of. Also I got some scratches on the poly stock, the idiots that run the public range that I frequent put in concrete shooting benches and those are hazardous to finishes, but i'm not worried about rust as it's all stainless steel.
