would what be possible to do? a plain jane AMD-63?
No, it's an AMD-65, but instead of the shitty wire side folder that folds to the right, I want to use the century series/AK-74M solid side folder that folds to the left.
So, I'm legitimately curious because I was thinking about this the other day Would something like this be possible to do? I imagine you would have to change the rear trunion to a standard side folder one, but if it was possible, it would make an awesome little not-SBR.
You'd have to change the receiver or do some welding and grinding along with the new trunnion, because the hinge for the AMD folder is in the same area as the button for the 100 series side folder. It might cost less than buying an SGL or SLR with a poly folder and modding it to look like an AMD-65 front end however. Hinge for reference:
I dunno, most of the appeal in getting the AMD was in it's size, as it's not an SBR with the pinned and welded muzzle break (Also because I just think they're neat). I guess another question would be, instead of modifying an existing rifle, what about building a rifle with an AMD-65 parts kit and using a receiver (like this) made for a traditional side folder? I'm not really interested in doing this to avoid the cost of an SGL or something like that, I just thought it would be a sort of neat project gun. I already plan to pick up an SLR-104 at some point so that I have a 5.45x39 AK with the solid side folder. [editline]11th August 2015[/editline] Turns out it should be doable by doing it like I said above, found an example that uses the triangle side folder, but if memory serves, the rear trunion for both is the same or nearly identical I thought. Apex just got in some matching number Belgian FAL parts kits http://www.apexgunparts.com/bgs-fal-parts-kit-w-type-a-stock-metric-7-62x51-good.html
The holster for my C96 came in. I'm really pleasantly surprised. [t]http://i.imgur.com/pMtY4eD.jpg[/t] Here it is on me. For $30 out of China I don't think you could do much better. It is real leather and is fairly well put together. It's a copy of a Chinese military holster, intended to be worn over the shoulder (with an included leather strap), and designed so you can shoot it without removing it from its holster. As far as I can tell it doesn't impede the action in any way so I think that's very possible. The only downside is that it's a bit hard to draw as the front sight post will snag, but I don't think you can design a holster for this pistol that won't have that problem, and is probably part of the reason it can be fired while in the holster. Really neat and I'm satisfied with it. e: I should add that unlike a lot of holsters I've seen it has no metal hardware (buttons, rivets, etc) protruding through the inside of the holster, so there's nothing to scratch it.
So I'm thinking of getting a Howa 1500 in .223 for coyote. What are your guys' opinions on it? Also, do I get it Howa branded or branded as the Weatherby Vanguard?
When buying a gun online (particularly cheaperthandirt), is it typically a good idea to contact the FFL dealer before you order the gun, or what? Ive never done this before.
When buying a gun online (particularly cheaperthandirt), is it typically a good idea to contact the FFL dealer before you order the gun, or what? Ive never done this before.
It's not absolutely necessary, but you should absolutely do it just as a courtesy to your FFL. Just call them and tell them what to expect and that so-and-so from XYZ is going to need a copy of their license or whatever. They are always nice people to make friends of as well. [editline]11th August 2015[/editline] I misread your post. The dealer doesn't need to be contacted before hand. Whoever you are shipping to should be (as I said above). It is always a good idea to follow up immediately after your order though just to make sure that they associate a person to the order in case something goes wrong. Helped me out when I order the upper to my AR15. The dealer was really nice and kept in touch over the phone through the whole process, which I doubt he would have done if I never bothered to make any contact aside from an online order.
Is a Howa Hogue combo for $550 a good price? Comes with a Gameking scope and is in either .243, .270, 30-06, or 300 WinMag. I'm thinking of the 30-06 for reloading.
Well that combo up here is like $750 so...
Turns out it should be doable by doing it like I said above, found an example that uses the triangle side folder, but if memory serves, the rear trunion for both is the same or nearly identical I thought.
The trunnions are almost the same, the only difference would be if it's a Bulgarian or old Russian style which are 4.5mm hinge pins and a 6 degree angle or the new Russian style, which is a 5.5mm hinge pin and 4 degree angle. That and the angle for the Bulgy folders isn't as horizontal as the Russian folders (SLR vs SGL). I know it's small:
i think the whole ffl is stupid as fuck. why do you need to have guns sent to a middle man like that? here the dealer/seller takes care of the paperwork, then ships it directly to you. then you pick it up at the post office like a regular parcel (or receive it at the door if you choose that)
The background check and ID verification is likely done at the FFL it's shipped to. In Canada we have guns shipped to our houses because the seller verifies that you're not a criminal when you give them your license number when ordering, so there's no need for a local dealer to check it.
While I think it's dumb that it's required I don't think I'd have a gun shipped to my door, as I'm out a lot of the day, so it isn't a big inconvenience for me other than the FFL fee/paperwork.

yeah, its odd but I don't find myself resenting mass murderers because of the people they killed, but because of the pointless restrictions they caused non-mas-murderers like myself.
What is going on in this ad exactly? [t]https://i.gyazo.com/35b085b073928ffd73033745af8a1f89.jpg[/t] "We'll apprehend that criminal with interpretive dance!"
...designed so you can shoot it without removing it from its holster.
FYI, that kind of holster is illegal in most states.
FYI, that kind of holster is illegal in most states.
You're going to have to cite some laws on that. Don't give me any of that wallet gun bullshit either.
I've never heard of that and plenty of holsters I see for sale around here offer trigger access without removing the gun. I have heard that swivel holsters can be illegal, though this isn't one of those. You can shoot it while it's holstered if you're using the shoulder strap, but I decided I wouldn't as I don't want it swinging around a bunch. e: Can't find anything about holster requirements in Texas, but open carry hasn't been legal since the 1800s and is only just now becoming legal again, so it may well be required in the future that the trigger be covered by the holster. Currently though it doesn't seem to be. Either way as tempting as it is to actually OC this pistol (it is my most reliable and most accurate pistol by a wide margin) I don't think I will be often, if ever. Maybe for certain occasions, but I'm afraid that if I ever have to use it it'll get "lost" in the evidence room.
FYI, that kind of holster is illegal in most states.
As far as I know, Indiana (my state) has no laws specific to the style of holster you're required to use for open carry.
So a site has K31s for $300 shipped. Buy it y/n?
Well, do you want a K31 and are you willing to pay $300 for one? Almost any gun that isn't a saturday night special or a dubious single barrel shotgun is worth $300 minimum, K31s included. Buy one if you want one.

It looks like some kind of defensive installation. It seems that the rig has some sort of device for a quick overview of where the weapon is pointed.
Next up in "ideas I steal from others on the internet": [t]http://imgkk.com/i/h1w_.jpg[/t] I've got one lined up. I just need to decide whether or not I want to go through with it.
Looks like it's designed to be able to be shot at a strong downward angle since it's mounted from above rather than below. That's awesome as hell.
So I looked at the Howa 1500 Hogue and the Weatherby Vanguard, and I much prefer the Hogue stock on the Howa over the Monte Carlo on the Weatherby. I also looked at the Ruger American and feel kinda "meh" towards it. I also saw a Savage M25, which was a nice gun, had the accutrigger, heavy barrel, and a detachable mag, but not the accustock, and the action was ridiculously long for a .223. There's a place out west selling a Howa Hogue with a 20" heavy barrel and a Nikko Stirling 4-16x44 scope for $800, does that seem like a good deal? If I could get just the gun for just a bit more than the $500 the slim barrel costs I'd just do that and put a Bushnell Legend on it, but I don't think anywhere has the HBAR one standalone, and if they do it's probably like $650.
So, my dad decided to buy the SSAR-15 stock with some giftcards I got for him for Christmas. Today we put it on one of our AR-15's and tested it out. Lemme tell ya what... bumpfiring is so much fun. It did burn through ammo like crazy and the barrel got really hot, but it's a fun toy nevertheless. It's almost like shooting a real full auto. Although the only real full auto I shot was a rented MP5 at a range (which was very enjoyable).
So I FINALLY got a 5,7x28!!!! Took me ages to find one.. weird since many European LE/militaries uses P90s. 4,6x30, 5,7x28 and .224 Boz (along with 12,7x99) are all "forbidden" calibres for civilian use. 4,6x30 is fucking everywhere among collectors, shows how much these idiotic symbolism laws work. [editline]13th August 2015[/editline] Also got a 7mm TCU, which is a really neat concept
Now get some SS190. :q:
