[editline]12th August 2015[/editline]
Is that a bunker it's mounted inside? Looks funky as hell. What's the purpose? I see the Scharfschützen Bern jacket, any story behind it?

It looks like some kind of defensive installation. It seems that the rig has some sort of device for a quick overview of where the weapon is pointed.
Yes the MG is mounted in an artillery bunker built in WW2 to protect Switzerland against an invasion from the south. It is mounted with a so called "Schiesspanoramatafel", it allows the gunner to shoot in bad visibilty conditions against reported enemy positions. That jacket is from my shooting club, most of us wear it when go someplace together.

Thinking about buying a HK USP .40 off of a friend of a friend. He said it has a cerakote job that the previous owner tried to remove, as well as about 500 rounds through it (grain of salt). Probably going to get some pictures from the guy after he gets off work today, and go meet him in person if it looks decent. Being my first private sale, what all should I take note of before making a deal?
That you have money to pay. Unless you're in a commie state

at some point i have to ask myself [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/sbz3RyO.jpg[/img_thumb] where the hell am i supposed to put all this ammo in my 900 square foot apartment
at some point i have to ask myself [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/sbz3RyO.jpg[/img_thumb] where the hell am i supposed to put all this ammo in my 900 square foot apartment
In an express box before mailing it to me.
My "babbys first handgun" arrived today I put 10 rounds through it earlier. I was a little rushed because it was getting dark so I dont exactly know what to think of it yet, but so far I kinda like it.
I hate to say it, but that thing has too many safeties. One for the firing pin, one for the trigger, and one for the mag.

So my friend wants a nugget after firing mine.
I hate to say it, but that thing has too many safeties. Just like a normal gun except with an extra safety now.

Dat sexy engineering.
I think I NEED one now, that's too cool for $100
I mean for the price it's a fun gun to just plink around with and the only problem other than the redundant safeties is the occasional failure to feed. It will sometimes not have enough power to chamber a new round completely but it's not that bad, the round will go in but the slide just need to go in about another mm or two to chamber it completely. And if you get the one with the short barrel and the long one it will run you I think about 125-130ish but if you get one without the long barrel like I got I walked away with it for $100 even after tax.
Some people on the Military.com comment section made a good point by saying that for the moment it seems that this is more-or-less change for the sake of change. The US Army probably wants a handgun that is equally intimidating as it is worth the price tag.
nah man we just want glocks 'why do you want glocks though!?!? plastic pistol WITH NO SAFETY!!1!!' i'll give you a hint, only pilots and military police will ever use their m9 for its intended purpose as a combat handgun apart from that its really just an offhand tool to search someone, and the m9 is fucking retarded in this regard as it's heavy and the safety is retardedly located on the slide
It still puzzles me how the M9 ever got selected by the US. It's really not very impressive.
It still puzzles me how the M9 ever got selected by the US. It's really not very impressive.
If you compare it to it's other 1979 candidates at the beginning of the XM9 trials it seems like the best choice. The other guns in the line up were the Colt SSP, Smith & Wesson Model 459, Fabrique Nationale DA, FA and High Power, Star M28, and the H&K P95 and VP70.
The P226 made it far in the trials and should have won
The P226 made it far in the trials and should have won
I suspect it was more expensive than the Beretta.

I've never interacted with M9s till I came into the military and I immediately was not a fan. The safety pisesed me off so fast
Got my CETME back from Bill at TriggerWorks. Did a great job with the trigger and the paddle release. Can't wait to take it to the range.
Picked myself up a Glock 17 Gen4 for $539 today I think I got a pretty good deal!

Meaning just about anyone can shoot it and the Army wants everyone to be able to pick up a gun and shoot it without bitching about "ermagerhd recoil hurts, I can't hit the target, blerghh... ( M16 anyone? Recoil isn't even a thing lel ) It's also a fairly simple learning platform because field stripping is one lever, the slide stop can be used with one hand, the safety is ambi also located on top away from the other controls which can be a big deal. And like I said, it's soft shooting. It's one of the best handguns for teaching people to shoot cause they're not gonna be able to come back and pop themselves in the face in almost any way. The safety is still stupid as all hell for where it's mounted but hey, carry with one in the chamber and all you have to do it flip it up. Or just keep the safety off and the hammer down ( the way I carry it while hunting ) ALSO, can anyone help me identify this optic for a friend? All he knows is that it's a Leupold from what the description of the photo said but the thread is soooo old he can't get the guy to respond. [T]http://i.imgur.com/VbEiXTv.jpg[/T]

Also found out he was shooting with it but forgot to ask the guy at the Range what was on it. Aaaand he definitely won't be dropping 5k on a scope, no matter how much he liked it at 900m.
